As a teenager with PTSD, this hits me hard. I’ve been listening to you for years and it’s always helped me through my hardest times. I’ve had so many people tell me I’m wrong for having PTSD because I’m “too young”, or never been in war. But this illness is caused by more than war and any age can have it. Thank you Citizen Soldier for being with me, this song will always be one of my favorites.
Your emotions are absolutely valid and real, people trying to invalidate that are wrong, plain and simple. I hope you can manage not to let words like that affect you too much and perhaps find some further help through therapy. All the best

I’m 22 and I have had ptsd since I was 8 so I understand your pain @Rei I hope you get better and find the best ways to cope with it, mine is listening to music or punching a punching bag
I got PTSD at 13 and just found their songs when this one released. I definitely agree that music helps disorders and nobody is to young for it. And yeah..it helps other disorders as well

Honestly the fact you say if he's on the trauma of what used to be just hit my hard too hard it makes me think of my trauma and I want it to just go and leave me alone
This describes exactly what I feel. My dad was very physically abusive and my mom was very emotionally manipulative. All I remember is the memories and it causes me panic attacks. All night and everyday all I do is replay the memories. It’s like I’m alive but trapped in the memories. Amazing job capturing what people feel when memories haunt them.

I've been shot at cut up chocked in front on my daughter and forced to defend myself multiple times I can't hear a gate close without looking anymore on top of that i hear things that arent there and this hit so hard because truly until you go through this your never understand what a monster made from memories are

I related to "Ashamed like I'm sleeping with the enemy" It's how I feel a lot of the time. I feel like my memories are keeping me awake, and ashamed of what I remember in the past, it's like a monster on my shoulders that was made of things I wished to forget. You guys are truly amazing, and I hope you keep doing what you are doing. And don't forget to look after yourself too! Since you do so much for us! So many songs in one week is crazy! I loved them all!

Im 37 and most of your songs represent me.... a byproduct of inhumane cruel blood family. I paid for my fathers sins before i was born until i turned 17. I left my family and signed up to die in the army. I was convinced noone will ever care about me. That was until my kids were born, they are the only reason i still live. Great music thank you

To all those who need to hear this. You are loved. You are wanted. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. “No pain, no gain.” You are all living proof of these quotes. Your abuse hurts and will probably continue hurting but this will make you a stronger person. Your bravery and strength to hold on will be rewarded in the future. Don’t give up now because there is so much out there worth living. If you die, you’ll never experience the joy and happiness of life. You’re your own jury, your own judge. Don’t look at others. Only look at yourselves because you matter. You always have, ever since you were born, and you always will. “Every child deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a child.” You aren’t the monster. Whoever is torturing you is. Love yourself and others will love you. Respect yourself and other will respect you. “Your abuse is your glory” as Citizen Soldier has said in one of his songs. Your abuse is your glory and the story you will write in your future. No one is like you. God makes everyone different and if you die. Your uniqueness dies with you. No one wants that. If your loved ones can’t see that then they are not truly your loved ones. There is no one else like you. Don’t think you are inferior. Everyone is the same. What matters is what’s in your heart, nothing else. Remember that and live your life to the fullest so one day, you can look back and say “I really did it all.” Live life with no regrets and leave this world happily knowing you experienced everything you’ve ever wanted. Karma will punish those who’ve hurt you and Karma will reward you for your glorious bravery. You’re the next generation and the warriors of this world. You’re special. One day this world will see that. Everyone who’s ever doubted you will see that. You don’t need anyone’s approval other than your own. Never forget that and live a life full of love, happiness and fulfilment. We’re all with you :)

This will be blasting on my phone for a long while. As someone who do have traumas, this is on point. Many nights I stay awake or have nightmares about these. Sometimes waking up with tears in my eyes. It's not always easy to live with this. Being paranoid that it can happen again... But I keep my head up and try to keep going forward. This song hits hard in all of the right ways. There's a lot of misconception when it comes to mental health, such as the outside perspective of "they looked fine to me"
Probably the toughest misconception though is that getting help makes it all go away. It doesn't make everything just magically disappear... just makes it easier to live with it.

This is bringing tears to my eyes. I've never heard anyone say exactly what I feel like this before. I don't sleep at night cause my brain is going through every bad part of my past even stupid little moments that no one else would remember like embarrassing myself in front of a friend etc. Thank you so so much I needed this song more than anyone will ever know.

I've made several OCs just based on individual songs by one of citizen soldiers, all of their works speak deeply to my heart
For me, this song corresponds in a manner likely not that which Citizen Soldier intends.
For me, the unwanted event and memories of and around it are *separate* from the "monster".
My "monster" is my friend - one of the few I have - embracing me to fight against the unspeakable, the latter of which is like a deceitful young man, not a 'monster' at all.

Thank you for y'all's music. Since I've become clean from my addiction y'all's music has helped me so Damm much over these past 6 months.
This came out while I was going through a bad period, my mind stuck on the years I spent being bullied. Life's better, but this song sums up the PTSD really well, which is actually nice when you consider how lonely it can feel. It's ond thing to know in your head that others feel like you do, but having an anthem for the feeling really drives that knowledge into your bones.

This sums up my past. I still battle with it today but I fight daily to be on top and now I'm happily married with a baby on the way. But I swear there isn't a day my memories of my past don't haunt me, but they also feed me to be what I've become! Love your music and the way I interpret it and use it as fuel! Citizen soldier is one of the only bands that actually has any experience of what it’s like to deal with depression on a daily basis while older songs have a great deal of relevance and truth behind them I personally like some of the older songs a little bit better just because I don’t sound as much like hard rock has the newer ones do but I definitely appreciate the messages I think my favorite song is (would anyone care) Which is a song about suicide and what it’s like to feel like you do not matter but then to hear that you do it’s enough to keep you from doing it.

I was talking to my friend last night about how I have been feeling incredibly depressed and the main reason is because I'm haunted by my past. It comes out in a few different ways, sometimes it's regret for the things I've done, sometimes it's an intense longing for the past I had. But either way I'm hiding a monster in my head and it's made up of my memories. And nobody understands it, but now I finally feel heard.
