space usage, urban impact, as you hasn't got to break the floor to put big concrete pillars or dig under the soil, and it reduces "building" time, as the tracks are just assembled.

Very cool, but what makes it more efficient/better than simply putting it on the ground?

Seaplane. I read your comment. You were saying that the Duesseldorf Skytrain was a joke. You also mumbled around about thugs and monopolies and having a standard "that works for all". I replied that H-Bahn was a type of road that not only gave the ground surface back to the people and was safer and faster than its earth-bound competitor, but was so cheap to install that it could return transit to the private sector. The latter is the only part that's 1880's. Someone has to lead. Cellphones?

Dave did you even read my comment? Gov makes roads, GM, Ford, Mack, Tesla, etc, make the vehicles. BIG Difference. Road is a standard ALL can use. Skytran is NOT a good standard ALL can use. All track systems that don't allow ANY entrant to add vehicles is a "joke" that no tax payer should have to fun. Your paradigm is 1880's, not 2013. Cells phones, like pods, should be able to run on different "tracks" so that competition can allow unique markets to form. Skytran is a monopoly...junk

It's a joke..?! The taxpayers already 'buy' roads that have rails, so why would they not 'buy' a road that not only elevated its rails (leaving the ground portion clear for peds, Bike Rapid Transit, and vegetable gardens), but is a lot safer, easier to build, and wasn't just a lot cheaper, but could be so cheap, it would return transit to the private sector? Who needs to wake up?

Great video, great idea, great train -- SkyTrain. However, I am looking forward to seeing this, as NASA is working on with start ups of SV --- hope to see this soon here in SF Bay area and kick those oil guzzling cars out of sights --- '--youtube--dot--com/watch?v=echZPz4Pmig--'
