Wouldn’t the chaos god of the great devoured just be the great devourer itself?
The Hive Mind could be considered it’s own god entity I think.
I think to be considered a chaos God you have to have psychic powers.
@@randomguy2809 ...Which the hive mind does have. It has an IMMENSE psychic presence. What people keep pointing out as the 'shadow in the warp' is not exactly a nullification of the warp around them...
It's that there are so many minds at work that it casts a shadow upon all else. That's what the shadow in the warp is. It's not silence, it's cacophony. It's why people go mad and have such difficulty in the presence of the hive fleets. The tyranids, intentionally or not, eat their minds alive.
@@randomguy2809 it has
@@necrozmalp8133 I thought their psychic power was just being a void in the warp
@@randomguy2809 like he said, Neuro- and zoanthroapes are phsykers. Also, hive tyrants and neurotyrants are phsykers too. In the devastation of Baal novel it was stated that the Swarmlord threw a phsykic lance at Dante.
The hive mind already is a god in the warp pretty much. It’s domain is the shadow, a place consumed with tyranids passing messages and an overwhelming feeling of hunger.
I really like that concept that the shadow in the warp is already a presence. Very similar to a black hole that although is not visible by the eye we see the absence it create
I agree with this too. I think the shadow is the warp isn't negative chaos energy, its just an incomprehensible presence. I love to think of it like a giant computer network. Like the tyranids minds are just encrypted a certain way we can't decipher.
How I've always interpreted the Shadow in the Warp is that it's the side effect of the synaptic connection of the Hive Mind. While the Tyranids and the Hive Mind have no true presence in the warp, their synaptic link creates a wall of psychic 'white noise' (a shadow one might say) that blocks the connection between the Immaterium and our reality.
The justification for Psyker units amongst the Tyranids (namely Zoanthropes and a few HQ units) being simply:
Having adapted such powerful synapse organs to increase their independent thinking, synapse range and command on the battlefield, they've gained the ability to temporarily break through the Shadow in the Warp to unleash the Immaterium's energy in the forms of the Psyker powers we see in-game. Obviously this confers risks like any Psyker tapping into the Warp, but the risk is fairly limited as only an individual bioform is temporarily accessing the Warp - a fairly limited loss of biomass in the case of a Daemonic incursion/Warp mishap.
This temporary divergence from the Hive Mind (which cannot access the Warp as far as we know), makes the bioform temporarily independent from the Hive Mind while 'casting', but then the psychic power ends and the Hive Mind 'reconnects', returning the Shadow of the Warp and blocking the Tyranid off from the Warp once more.
Anyway, that's how I've always thought about it.
@@stelpher what if instead of breaking through the warp, they are actually just channeling the power of the endless swarms of tyranid behind them. Like the whole hive fleet, and it gets psychic power and direction from the nids we don’t even know about behind that too. When a zoenthrope uses psychic power, it is being channeled directly from the hive mind, no vast well in another universe, just pure tyranid might. It’s like they are just passing a lightning bolt through the synapse to be used on the field, and this bypasses using the warp. But all that psychic might passing through spacetime drowns out the warp, even if it never goes into it.
@@xavier84623 Honestly, I'd agree that Tyranid psychic powers from a lore perspective don't draw from the Warp at all, and is simply the concentrated energy or will of the Hive Mind.
Unfortunately, that doesn't explain why in-game Tyranid Psykers still suffer from Perils of the Warp/mishaps.
Who is to say that the hive mind is already not a "chaos god" aka a super powerful warp entity?
I mean it clearly has an effect upon the warp (the shadow in the warp).
Maybe this saying is more literal then we first thought, maybe the hive mind literally is a shadow within the warp, a dark calm inside the storm.
Doesn't a nid invasion leave the warp more calm by devouring emotional beings and thus depriving the other chaos gods of strength? literally bringing a calm darkness to the warp.
Wouldn't it stand to reason that the nids had used genestealers in other galaxies, and thus already have a much longer history of emotional worship then any milkyway being could have?
Think about it, thats why the hive mind is so alien, so foreign. It is a chaos god from another galaxy, and its goal is to not just consume all life in a galaxy, but also to consume all psychic energy, and thus to consume the chaos gods themselves.
What if this is why the chaos gods even bothered with trying to build up military forces in real space in the first place, because they knew the hive mind was coming, and they would need them to defend against it. Think about it, the chaos gods didnt ever really need to bother with Horace in the first place, the galaxy is/has/and always will be filled with the exact emotions that brought them to existence in the first place, they didnt need to corrupt us, we were already corrupted. Always had been.
The reason why chaos gods bother with the galaxy is because its their nature. They "crave" more and more always, the simple its already corrupt so we always get emotions is not enough for them. Its like capitalism, they always try to maximize their "profit".
Isn't the shadow in the warp more like constant chattering instead of something akin to blanks?
My guess is that there's already a warp presence by the nids, just not very centralized, even more broken than the emperor, and all it does is prevent nids from feeding the rest of the warp.
Gersh1 got a haircut
Chaos God of Gluttony. I'm picturing Chaos Space Marines with chef's hats.
I'd love to see some lore on the Wolfspears after Nid November! I just got the White Dwarf magazine that featured them. Honestly I think a Tyranid God would represent the very essence of life, evolution, and adaptation. Since almost all of the races in 40k have continued to evolve and adapt to their reality in various situations in order to survive.
I like the concept of a god of adaptation
I will add the wolfspears to the list thanks.
And I never thought about that. The tyranids do represent evolution and adaptation. Like the other chaos gods it has a positive and negative. Really good idea
so similiar to Zerg (starcraft) they are already quite similiar so Kerrigan tyranid Version !!!
Tzeentch is the god of change and hope, while nurgle covers life and death. Seems to overlap too hard, no?
I'm taking it from elsewhere in these comments, but it would be the god of consuming darkness and hunger.
I don’t think tyrannids are inherently chaotic:.. they would simply ingest warp entities and bop to and fro into real space like hungry ants… Idealized consumption
Tyrannesh, the God of insatiable appetites
Seems to me like some of the chaos gods are vaguely modeled after the deadly sins, so a devouring one would fit well
Hunger. Fleets launched in all realms and times. A potentially hopeless situation for all races and times
The thing that always bugged me was that The Great Devourer and Shadow of the Warp both fit perfectly in Malal/Malice's whole shtick of being dead set on the destruction of chaos.
Oh god that's such a cool idea of malice being the god of destruction and he's taking the form of a mass of hungering monsters
My thoughts would be that this god would actually be one of evolution focused on forming new and advanced designs of flesh/stone/metal/warpstuffs (I guess wraithbone is the closest equivalent) as I view the thought that the tyranid's goal of consumption is short sided and individualistic. What the hive mind truly has as a goal is to shape every resource it can into tools to further obtain new and more interesting forms of material to then work with. The reason we as individuals see that as only consumption is because we think of resources as something to be shared rather than seeing it for the potential bioforms it can be used to form.
My evidence for this school of thought is that if the Tyranid mind only cared about raw consumption, it wouldn't mould new bioforms it would just rush in with whatever original designs it had cause they work well enough most of the time. Yes, you could argue that that was the only way it managed to conquer but humans see beauty in the same sorts of things because they were critical to our survival so those who didn't take heed of the tiger face in the reeds or the symmetry of the best fruits/fungi/nuts or the intricate forms that the clouds above made died from the threat that they failed to recognize. We find pleasure in that which was crucial to our ancient ancestors' survival even today when we no longer face the threats that they did
Question: Do the genestealers have a sense of the larger imperium? Like target recruiting worlds. Or are they just sort of poking around at random ahead of hive tendrils?
They are attracted to terra
Idk supposedly it's thought that it's after the source of astranomicon and its poking around for the easiest path and tryn to destroy anything along the way to terra
@@prussianking5079 it’s not terra it’s the emperor
The Nids are smart. Like, REALLY smart.
They regularly start uprisings on Imperial worlds. So for for them to understand the basic makeup of the Imperium empire is to be expected for sure.
What genestealers will also do is smuggle broodlords and potential brood lords off world to other planets before the hive fleet arrives so they do have a general understanding
bricky on AR speculated that something like this could happen if one of the hive fleets would be destroyed because their life energy is absolutely massive and their death would result in massive ripples in the warp
Definitely the nids have the souls and matter to sacrifice. So imagine if multiple hive fleets destroyed themselves
Awesome job
I think the new god would be the god of destruction. Like the other gods, it would have a positive side to it which would be creation as the Tyranids both destroy life and create it.
Yeah destruction and rebirth seems to be a very popular theme with GW. Basically all the eldar gods have some element of it. Isha and ynnead
Weez got won a dem already, is name is Gork... Or was it Mork?
I love u guys videos please keeps them coming
I tried spitting on the "like" button, and hey, I'm no longer waiting in line. Everybody moved out of my way!
...Praise the Tyranid Chaos God.
Spit is the new bad smells
HF Tiamat may be working on something that could be the center of that chaos God. You talked about a central figure that is worshiped, but you forgot about creatures like the Emperor of man, who is becoming something like a living Chaos God. I see this emerging Bio-form to be a massive psychic entity that can embody the total weight of the Hive Mind. Effectively creating a presence in the warp while remaining active in real space. It wouldn't be a God of Hunger, or Feral impulses, it would be a god of assimilation. The Hivemind isn't looking for the extermination of life, but the assimilation of all life. I say this because to me, the “Hive Mind” is an eldritch god from a different plane of existence trying to enter ours. Its presence is too massive for a single individual body, so it created the Hive fleets to get enough biomass to bring itself into our space. Bringing something so powerful as itself to life in a body would affect the warp, I imagine its soul would be the equal to the domains of Chaos. In the end it would assimilate all chaos turning all chaos cultist into Tyranid cults and that could be one of the Apocalypse scenarios for 40k. I don't see a Chaos God for the Tyranids to be a player in the Great Game, it would just flip the table and shoot the other players.
Slaneesh and nurgle would definitely conflict with a Tyranid chaos god . Would definitely cause Malice to have bigger role going forward
Consumption, survival and evolution.
Not consumption in the slaanesh sense as it isn't for pleasure and excess but the primal need to accumulate biomass to prevail and become the top of the food chain.
Not the evolution/change in the Tzeentch way as it cuts off the chaotic aspect, only keeping the one aimed for survival and overcome adversity of life.
Not the pestilent survival of Nurgle as it is doesn't take on the aspect of decay and death but rather the desire to avoid being a prey to cruel mother nature, and predate over it instead.
Too easy, barely an inconvenience.
Khorne = Wrath (war, violence, blood shed)
Slaanesh = Lust (sex, power, possessions, all embodiments of lust)
Nurgle = Sloth (doing nothing encourages death and disease)
Tzeench = Envy (the envious wish to be or have something else, the very embodiment of change)
Tyranid/The Maw = Gluttony (the consumption of all things)
Emporer of Mankind: Pride
You could argue Tzeentch is Pride and Tyranid Envy or even Greed.
Adeptus Mechanicus could make a cool Pride God as well.
Tau or Necrons would make a cool Greed God.
@@ArmyGuyClaude I'd say tyranids would be gluttony. But otherwise not bad.
I like to theorize that shadow in the warp i just completely alien warp form to regular chaos, just like ork faith
It's like infrared, you don't see it, but boy do you feel it!
You make a good idea and ways to make a tyranid god hope you nyide get one day
Since it’s *Nid-vember,* do we finally get a video about the Battle for Macragge?
It baffles me that I don’t have one already
basically the hive mind needs an avatar as a permanent living being akin to a tyranid primarch
If this plays out yes the possibility is there
can we see an in depth episode about the Blood and Fire animation on WH+. maybe you could go in depth on every significant event that happens in the series. maybe you could ellaborate on when the series is set, whats the repercussions for the series and will it impact the devastation of baal? has the devastation of baal already happened?
i hope this would help on nidvember and you could squeeze a few cheeky Blood Angels / Death Wing facts in too. hope this helps.
I'd love more explanation on non-human genestealer cults. I know how dificult it is to infect and raise on cultures like ork or eldar, but surely we can find a way to justify a homebrew cult of xenos origin.
I hope you enjoyed the latest lore video. It’s on the ork genestealer cult
@@OneMindSyndicate sure!!
Go for eldar genestealer cult too!!
The could the Doom of Malan'tai be the start of a chaos God.
A Tyranid god would be Birthed from within a already existing Chaos god, by targeting that Chaos gods followers and infecting them. Then the Chaos god would be devoured from within, like a bug being hatched inside, kinda like a chest burster from aliens.
Nurgle would be the best target from a cosmological standpoint as part of nurgles realm is entropy and frankly an empty void with literally nothing in it would be fairly entropic not to mention for the moment out of the four Nurgle did recently get an ass kicking from the emperor's warp presence making him for the moment the weakest of the four
Nidvember !! i love it
No Nid November
That would be hella crazy
A tyranid chaos god? A big purple dinosaur named Barney!
i think they already are,the shadow in the warp is the brain. and one could argue their the oldest thing in the warp if they are a manifestation of hunger. if they represent lifes basic need to consume then every single cell that has ever lived has technically contributed to their warp presence. hunger came before lust, anger, and even decay
Hunger seems the obvious answer but maybe also something like dedication since they dedicate their entire being to the goal of the hive, going so far as not caring if they die. Maybe also something like evolution since they're pretty much evolution incarnate
Now this would be a great threat to see the Chaos Gods fight against. The Tyranids moving through the shadow of the warp is bad enough, but them making a God of biomass is a dangerous foe for the Chaos Gods and the others.
Not to mention, it means trouble even for the Emperor of Mankind. The Tyranid God would be without a doubt be the God of Hungry. It would constantly want to consume any form of biomass no matter what. Sure as time goes on, it will consume a daemon and Daemon Prince of the warp to gain more power.
Probably not a Chaos God, but their own God in the Warp to end the Chaos threat, they did create a hive fleet solely for killing Chaos forces
I don't think it's fair to call the Tyranids primitive to be fair. The Hive Mind is the main driving force but with how they seed worlds with GsC etc I think Primitive isn't correct 🙂
But their goal is primitive. They aren’t trying to advance a civilization or leave behind a more productive ecosystem they simply want to consume everything and leave. They have to foresight
@@wessbrown5162 that's a great point to be fair 🙂
That’s true, another one of our viewers made a similar connection. Maybe all of the critical thinking and specialized adaptations of other races is pointless because the true end goal
Of all evolutionary branches is the tyrnaids
@@OneMindSyndicate I can't lie I love the dives into the lore & races like this. Especially when I can get opinions or where I maybe mistaken
Hmm tyranid chaos God of gluttony maybe? It'd make sense.
Questions? Is it nidvember or noveldar? Also is is lasagne a sandwich?
Oooo also can we all consider how seraphon could emerge/manifest in 40k???
I know Im late but I would say that this god could be the god of rebirth, you die and feed the tyrannids to create a new tyranid, you rebirth and become part of the god itself, y'know what I mean ? anyways great video !
It's getting wild in the 40k universe
It’s only going to get crazier, tyranids are truly the strangest faction
The Tyranid God of The Hungering Mind. It would be similar to a Gravemind or Key Mind but way more powerful. When Tyranids consume Bio Mass, any intelligence absorbed is partly redirected to Devos, The Hungering Mind. Devos would try to slow down the Tyranids because even though Devos hungers, They/Them knows that if the Tyranid kill all sentient life, Devos will starve.
Wouldn't a Chaos god of the Hivemind be a seperate mind from the Hivemind and thus potentially fracture the control behind the Tyranid? I could see it happening if a tendril of Tyranid were some how completely disconnected from the rest and through whatever reason or chance focused their evolution toward the creation of a Chaos god to serve as their own new Hivemind... But I don't see it happening as a chosen goal of the Tyranid as a whole. . .
If an all consuming God becomes manifest and meets Slaanesh the God excessive consumption I wonder what would happen
Oh mane.... When Slannesh say "eat my poosay".....
Hive Mind more like Vore Mind!
Imagine entering in contact with the Vore Mind and just hear "OwO notice your biomass..."
What 💀🤨📸
Sir please make a video on Grobula, a warp tyranid
The next question would be: what would it look like? Realistically, it could look like anything, however I think it would be neat if the hunger was a braided ring of limbs and teeth, swirling around a blackhole, a force of nature that greedily consumes anything unlucky enough to drift too close.
the chaos god void, nothingness, silence and emptiness, as every world that has been touched by tyranids, nothing is left but a dead rock
as they have came from the void of space, so will there be when they are done
What unwitting sources of power could it additionally draw from once formed? (i.e. from unaligned souls whose base desires still empower the gods of chaos)
Could the Tyranid God of insatiable hunger challenge the Dominion over Greed otherwise held by Slaanesh's unquenchable thirst? The infinite Khornate hunger for battle and thirst for blood? The Tzeenchian lust to covetously possess knowledge, as the gene banks expand? Nurgle's desire to consume, commune, and become one with all?
Sounds great to me
I've drawn this idea a while ago on FB and we named it the chaos God of eating galaxies like potato chips not a great piece but ehh not finished dunno what color I should make it's body so I left it to the imagination but about what you said of the orks believing in a big beast then maybe they don't even need to work to get their own god👀
I didn’t think Nidvember would be this interesting
Question: Gene-stealers vs Custodes sounds like a horribly one sided bug stomp, I always thought Gene-stealers were space marine and even Gaurdsmen bolter fodder, how do these infected humans have a chance against near perfection?
Only nom-nom...curse of necrons, created by great old ones, ogryn Great Maw 5 Star (red) Mawchellin rated gustatory repaste!
Question: let's say that the Tyranids did create a Chaos God, and successfully eaten all life; what happens to the warp? Would the warp be given a new form, fade away, could they carry it on their back into a new galaxy, and would the new galaxy be effected by the warp or will it be exclusive to the Tyranids only?
Thats a good question because it points out that the tyranid god would have to be something that can sustain itself even after the tyranid wipe away all biomass. As for the immaterium if the tyranids killed all sentient life the warp would still exist but it wouldn't be populated with as many warp entities. Think of it like the immaterium when the old ones were around.
I recommend calling it a warp god
Technically, the tyranid hive mind is able to be any and all of the tyranids. So it it's able to have all the abilities and powers of those units.
And the doom of Malakite (sorry for misspelling) already has enough souls and psychic power to be a chaos God itself.
@OneMindSyndicate
*The God of Evolution.*
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
We already have a tyranid chaos god, it's kirby
we know the nids are buildign some tower on a planet, but we dont know what it does, maybe that tower will take away the shadow in the area to make a chaos god while the rest can still be shrouded
A chaos god of creation. All the mass biomass used isbdone to create and fuel what had been created. To expand and to cultivate. Just from being in this galexy it created forms from Spacemarine, Ork, and Eldar, and potentialy more.
what if the Tyranids manages to get the DNA from the emperor of man? isn't he an unreasonable powerfull psycher? and more or less a god?
Sir Grobula can be consider as Tyranid Chaos God
You've definitely misunderstood the shadow in the warp
The God of Homogeneousness
All will think as one.
All will be consumed into one.
The cults will spread because the concepts of "unity" and "teamwork" will sound nice.
Eldarcember? Ya know cause Christmas elves ^^ ...yeah ...yeah I'm leaving
that is a possibility
I'd be surprised if the Tyranids went this way about creating a Chaos God, if they were to create one I'd expect it to be either a "Chaos God of Fear" generated by the fear perpetuated by their unstoppable advance through the galaxy or "The Four Armed Emperor" generated by the reverence of the gene cults. The former seems more likely as I doubt the latter would have the numbers to do so.
Hail to the Great Devourer!
Eater of our sins!
When all is quiet and gone!
Our freedom, we shall win!
I love it. I can hear cults all over the galaxy chanting this hymn
While the Chaos God of Consumption/Hunger/Devouring would be the consensus of what we think when we try to picture a Tyranid Chaos God, I hesitate to do the same simply because it doesn't encompass everything we know about the Nids. They are, simply, a primeval and meleavlent race that moves forever in the darkness of space to survive. Regardless of the reason why they do it, the all encompassing need to survive is the highest. An ouroborus would, in my opinion, be the charachcature that would embody that. The 'creature that eats its tail to survive, and survives by eating its tail.' Might not be the best, but it fits.
The problem with this is Tyranid have NO emotions and no concept of souls and warp entities need both to feed on. Secondly Zoanthropes did not evolve from Eldar DNA, considering Zoanthropes existed in the Tyranid forces before they entered this galaxy. Same thing for the Tyrant guard and several others.
Vore the Devourer
God of the Feast
Chaos god of swarms just massive amounts of small creatures that fight and eat
Chaos god of Hunger and Starvation...yeah I can see it working....watch a colab of universes and the Nids end up being the God of Fear and Hunger 🔥
the chaos god " the ever hungry shadow " the god of the void
The god of famine
Big question what if necromorph in Warhammer 40k
? Question: A chaos demon can be cut, chopped, burned, and smashed. Why can’t it be eaten? They obviously have a physical presence/body.
Technically the daemons are just walking bodies of psychic energy. They would simply return back into the Realm of Chaos and to their specific Dark God everytime they die.
6:00
Shadow in the warp evolves
I still think the endgame is going to be the hive mind absorbing the emperor and ending the universe
Question: Does that mean that they (Tyranids) can produce pariahs as they will... ???
No voice in our ear but the maw.....
A Giant Space Sand Worm
Here's an idea; what if the shadow in the warp is a tyranid warp entity?
Could be, maybe there is a hive fleet node that stretches their presence and it is the shadow in the warp. But more than likely the shadow of the warp is what psykers perceive or lack to perceive when they use their powers. Like a black hole, we don’t see the black hole because it absorbed light faster than we can perceive, all we do see is a space devoid of any light
That would make for an excellent end of times event where the Chaos Gods come to realize that their time is up unless they can some how band together with all of their forces as well as all of their Enemies to fight. After all, in a way this Tyranid Chaos God sounds like it would be the MOST powerful of all the Chaos Gods. Think for a sec. Everything the Chaos God consumes he makes a part of himself. Every advantage, every genetic benefit becomes his AND logically is then given to his minions. Thus, if he consumes one of the Chaos Gods, all of what made that God powerful NOW is an advantage of the Tyranid Chaos GOD and in turn ALSO is given to all of his minions. Giving all the OTHER Chaos Gods a massive reason to try desperately to keep from being Consumed (and thus, destroyed).
Perhaps the stories would revolve around potential NEW Chaos Gods that come into being and they are the first to be consumed, giving all the Elder Chaos Gods reason to pause and become quite worried.
Then take it to a new level where the Chaos Gods actually have to some how communicate with each other to work together to destroy this NEW powerful God only to find his forces are insanely powerful. As the Chaos Gods forces are dwindling down in followers, their worlds being devoured, they now see they have no choice but to seek other help.
The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend?
A Tyranid chaos god sounds like the Great Maw from warhammer fantasy.
This is a 40k channel man not warhammer
@@wessbrown5162 i'm aware, but what was just described is currently owned IP of games workshop. 😑
We have only seen the tendrils the main body is on it's way no telling what that will take the form of
What about Weird boys, couldn't they just farm them from the orcs, its almost a endless supply as the more weird boys they lose the more they produce to replace them.
the false assumption is that the shadow of the warp is absolute. if it disrupted all psychic ability then they would not have the hive mind. the shadow only needs to be a shadow for you.
Yeah but the warp only works if you have a soul. That's why things like Tau can't be corrupted by chaos because they have no souls. Thats why Alpha legion are renegade not chaos which is further supported by Omegon and Alpharius joining the rebellion to ensure chaos is defeated. That and Alpha legion do not have souls because they're clones and you cannot clone a soul which is why the clone of horus was so messed up and why an alpha legionnaires suddenly believe they're Alpharius when the previous claimant dies because the soul transfers to another vessel. Tyranids have no souls and thus have no warp presence.
God of madness
A god of darkness and fear and neverending hunger. And the god of order because the tyranids are syncron.
What if they ate tzeentch and the hive mind fused with him becoming the chaos god of mutation/adaptation/change
What abou gene stealer cults, or the thoughts and beliefs of those who witness it before the are consumed
the Chaos god of resilience or/ quantity. consumption is too close to slaanesh and it would taken or straight up just eaten by her
Don't the Ogres in Warhammer Fantasy have a god maw they worship? Some divine consumer entity?
I think will by the single god capable to kill the emperor in fis ultimate form.
