I like the detail of how he goes from speaking like a near-mindless zombie to an articulate, intelligent ruler. Seeming more sane, lucid and coherent as the trilogy progresses, almost as though he's gradually "waking up" from his 2 years of being dead.
@@alexanderlycan4275 Technically he didn't die in Tournament of Elements, he was just sent to the Cursed Realm. The Cursed Realm's destruction at the end of Possession was when he actually died. We're told there's a year time jump in between Seasons 5 and 6 (Or rather, the first episode of Season 6, the only one that canonically happened thanks to Jay's final wish). Since there's no mention of a large time jump between Seasons 6 and 7, we can assume there were at most a few months between them; Season 6 takes place during summer and Season 7 most likely during fall, since the first day of Season 7 is the day after Day of the Departed, the Ninjargon equivalent to Halloween. There's another one year time jump between seasons 7 and 8, which means Season 8's events take place just two years after the end of Season 5. If you do the math using every mentioned time skip and every indicator of what time of year it is, plus fill in the blanks by making some assumptions, the whole series from the pilot episodes to Season 15 likely takes place over the course of just 7 years.

I was amazed how they managed to pull this off Usually when u bring a character from the dead after dying a tragic meaningful death it cheapens the death of the character But this was done so great that even though he had to relearn some lessons about humanity it didn’t make them feel repetitive having the literally all evil side force himself to be better and understand what he could be
I still massively respect Ninjago for this. I was at first so mad that they were gonna bring him back after the end of his character in season 5. But they took us seriously and wrote a heartbreaking scene for Lloyd. Lloyd felt the same way about how his father was totally gone. The really good writing of Garmadon continued throughout the seasons
And Bragi Schut, in his infinite wisdom (sarcasm), decided to just throw all that character arc away by making him good again. Look, I like villain redemption (most of the time, exceptions being Harumi). But Garmadon permanently sacrificed his life just to make up for the evil of his past; showing us the ultimate redemption. Season 8 reconciled this by getting rid of any good in him, making him into an undead personality-zombie. But Bragi for some reason, decided to make him good again. Meaning that "Garmadon trying to be good, and making up for his evil past by killing himself" development went to waste.
This is how I see him, He returned only as an Oni at first but in time being exposed to Lloyd and his friends eventually brought back something else on him, the good, the Garmadon from season 1 and 2, my theory is that they did return his evil side sure, but remember that the good Garmadon was evil at first too, mostly beacause the Great Devourer´s venom, eventually he will turn back to his normal being, (not to mention he hestiates when he has a chance to finish Llloyd) since when he died in possesion he was a good guy, which means that from his primitive oni state he will go to the "evil" goofy Garmadon and then Sensei Garmadon, beacause ieither way, what Oni would like to learn to be good?
Hope in future season gammadon good side and evil side become One to be balance like yin and yang reason why evil side trying to be good but because he have lost his other halv side
