Season 05, Episode 02, We're Lost In The Dark
Dr. Marcel and Dr. Sexton are forced to perform surgery in the dark. Dr. Manning gets trapped in an elevator with a patient who needs emergency surgery. Dr. Choi trains a new set of residents while Dr. Halstead, Maggie, and Sharon tend to a series of students who are having multiple seizures and suspect it might be an outbreak.

Funny story. In south Africa we have a thing called loadshedding where they put the power off during the day because we dont have enough resources. So sometimes it takes a while for the generators to kick in. I'm so use to drawing blood in the dark.
Awema story of our lives that time they say after 2hours it will be back and next you know you go almost the whole day without electricity😩

I love that nobody realises that they are exhausting themselves. Taking a 5min break can save someone's life cause you are (a bit) more rested and have a clearer head. Also those snacks and waters are going to get them through the day
People have this issue with April and honestly...Its that she should be a doctor. She's a nurse that *should be a doctor* and so she comes off as pretentious even though she is capable enough to back it up.
Edit: and I'm nit saying nurses aren’t capable. But there are slightly different personalities and skill sets for both job. I have a lot of family in both. And April definitely had a doctor personality.
I think I remember a bit of her background, not entirely sure though. She wanted to be a doctor but she had to help support her family and chose the cheaper option, and then her family is more traditional in that men are doctors and women should be nurses I believe. Her brother is a doctor, though not as capable as her it seems, which is also a point of contention that they addressed in some episodes - that she should be the doctor, not him.

Nurses are the reason any department works. I’d rather be a doctor than a nurse, as nurses are a walking encyclopaedia for that department and have a lot of doctors rotating in and out to babysit. Though I’m biased as my mum was an eye nurse and I’ve had a lot of eye issues….she was the only one who could convince me to cooperate/let put drops in my eye

She needs to learn her place and not force her believes on people. She always makes a big deal when her advise is not taken. She might be right or wrong but until she's the one in charge ( doctor) she needs to follow orders.
Unfortunatly this happened in my country quite recently, an BMW ran through a red light side swiping a ambulance, this happened on the 2nd march

Happened to me when i was doing civil service. Late at night first snow of the year and a black bmw lost control and hit us almost head first. Bmw almost flew off the road down a cliff and we landed on a field. Luckily we didnt have a patient or an emergency and neither me nor my driver nor the guy driving the bmw got seriously hurt. Never was in so much shock before, coouldn't even tell the police my home address. I shudder to think what would happened if either of us three got injured.
I love how they can handle any situation that comes their way, amazing 👏 Respect goes out to all first responders 💖

Even on The Titanic, after the lights went out, and the ship broke, the emergency lights stayed on until the stern was underwater! Backup power is amazing!
One of the very few intresting and action intensive Episodes of CMed . Love it that if I saw it correctly that Capp and Tony get small Spotlights in this Rescue . And the Student kinda looked and reminded me of Clarke .

Emergency generators kick in if the main power source is interrupted unless it’s not properly maintained it can and will fail

It happened here. It was raining non stop, the hospital started to flood, ceiling was falling down and there was no power. I just saw the videos, the health staff was running non stop to help everyone
that's so scary, imagine having a heart attack and having nobody to save you.

Not for nothing but memorizing all those medical terms has to be already difficult. And most scenes there´s more than one actor on scene. I´m wondering how annoying it must be when they´re filming a complicated scene and one of the actors either forgets their line or makes a mistake.

What about people on life support? What would happen to them during power cut?
Nurses would have to start bagging them by hand. And really, anyone who knows how to bag might end up having to, since they need the nurses elsewhere too. Things that run on batteries will be fine, things that don’t-well hopefully it’s something that can be done by hand. Otherwise they’re out of luck.
