Women in Sports and Title IX: Past, Present & Future

  • Celebrate the legacy of Title IX during its 50th anniversary.
    In honor of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, this talk will review the women and history of the groundbreaking legislation as well as its impact on women and girls in sports and society through the years.
    Allison has a lifetime of experience as a woman in sports, first as a Div. I athlete and then as a professional working with athletes from youth and high school sports to elite, professional and Olympic level athletes and teams. She has been to 3 Olympic and Paralympic Games supporting Team USA as an athletic trainer and part of the USPOC Sports Medicine staff and has worked with numerous National Teams including USA Softball, the US Ski Team, and US Soccer continuing to work with the Women's National Development teams as part of their High Performance Network. She is the owner of Athena Athlete - empowering females with confidence, leadership and performance as a personal coach and speaker on the mental and physical skills to level up in sports and life. She is a Title IX and Women in Sports expert promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and is a Professor of Women in Sports for a Graduate Athletic Administration program at Concordia University Irvine.
    ​The Mary Maschal Lecture Series provides a platform for scholars, artists, journalists, activists, and other thought leaders to share information on issues of importance to women. All Lecture Series events are free and open to the public.
