    Please keep on making such podcasts. This should be your bread and butter as a CZcamsr. Why? Simply because you excel at it.

    Anna, I think if we believe a little we are perfectionists but we aren't in real, that helps us to try every time to do better. I like the idea of being a perfectionist even if I don't do it all really well. (The system corrects my grammar, it is fantastic!!!!)

    I felt very related to this podcast because I always thought I'd never achieve to speak English with confidence and I used to spend hours and hours thinking of how to star off. But when I did decide to start, and had my first conversation it was like walking over the moon! As a perfectionist, she got the point, it is better to enjoy it and be flexible with ourselves. Thank you for such incredible podcast, and for cheering me up! 🎉 I really enjoy your videos

      I totally agre, it's an amazing way to practice. However I was wondering how the best way to use it to improve, I often listening without seeing the subtitles and take all the context, then, I listen again following the subtitle and I write the phrases or words that I didn't know, then I do a research to understand the words or phrases, then I read out loud the text without listening, in the end I listening again and see if I have some error or bad pronunciation then I shadowing the audio.

    • @andreafixes
      @andreafixes Před rokem +1

      @@dpmayer One good method is to listen without reading. If you come across a word you don't understand, you can check it (especially if you don't understand the meaning of the sentence through context). You will need to do this more for topics where vocabulary is new for you or an accent you're not used to. I hope that helps! ⭐

    Hi Anna, thanks for your podcasts. Just wanted to share with you one interesting idiom, "to split hairs" I believe we can use it as an equivalent to "nitpicking". Btw I've heard the phrase which you've mentioned in this video, but it slightly differs and it says, "Aim for the Moon if you miss you may hit a star". Have a nice weekend, take care.

    ~~~~ Belle France ~~~~
    It's a tongue so belle with magnificent words
    Which carries its history through to its accents
    Where you can smell music and the scent of herbs
    The cheese of the goat and the golden bread
    And from Mont-Saint-Michel to the Contrescarpe
    Hearing the people of this country speak
    It's as if the wind had been caught in a harp
    And that it has kept all of its harmonies
    In this lovely tongue with the Provence colours
    Where flavour of things is already in words
    It's first by speaking that the party starts
    And one drinks the words as well as the wine
    Voices resemble the courses of rivers,
    Respond to meanders, to the wind in reeds,
    Even to torrents that carry thunder
    Polishing the stones on the banks of streams
    It is a tongue belle at the end of the world
    A bubble of France, West of a continent
    Caught in a stranglehold but yet so fertile
    From low of high ice to volcanic centres
    She has thrown bridges over the Atlantic
    She once left her nest for some other soils
    And like a swallow to springtime of musics
    She returns to sing us her sorrows and hopes
    To tell us that there in the snowy maples
    She faced the winds 'round the St. Laurent gulf
    And poured magic words out into the schools
    And where we still speak the tongue of our people
    A tongue beautiful for those who defend it
    It offers treasures of infinite riches
    The words that we lacked to reach and understand
    And the strength we need to live in balance
    And from Orleans isle till the Contrescarpe
    Listening to the folks singing in this country
    It seems that the wind has caught on a harp
    And that it composed a whole symphony
    On dirait que le vent s'est pris à une harpe
    Et qu'il a composé toute une symphonie!
    Fab. 03 31 23.
    Merci Anna! 🙏😊
  • @proficientimpactenglishaca4369
    3:47 Perfection is subjective, not objective. I believe you meant to say this. Objectivity is based on a scientific standard, which means one size fits all, but subjectivity depends on the whims of the individual, thus my perfect day may not be yours-that is subjective...
    Actually, I’ve listened to the entire podcast as an audio and came here just to comment on. This is a really brilliant one honestly, I felt it relates to me so much. I’ve personally not tried many things in my life because of my fear not to be perfect at. This feeling has really impeded me hugely as I had no courage to try on new things or look at different opportunities that were available at that time. Thankfully, my mentality has changed recently as I’ve finally realised we are humans, none of us is perfect. We just have to try our best and do the best we can by pushing ourselves to the limit regardless of the outcomes that we might not be very satisfied with. Success is a journey that will definitely take time! As you mentioned, “aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.” Thank you so much, Anna. This episode has inspired me a lot. 🥹🌹
    A long time ago I read about dragons. A red one is symbolic of the rough energy we were born with but its evolution is the green dragon, let's say that taming the first is our mission and then we have to let it off trusting it will come back to us with its beautiful treasures.
