Poor seller...I would just keep the car after you guys nitpicked his 30-year-old car. He should wait 5 more years and get what that car is really worth. The 5.0 is the next quickly appreciating muscle car for the next generation. Yes, a performance V8 car with a manual transmission that would sell for what most folks can still afford. Keep your car man!!!

I had a 90 LX 5.0 back up in Bloomfield New Jersey, people don't realize these cars way under 3000 pounds if you take that spare tire out, I actually was able to find a four lug full aluminum spare tire from Ford. Looks like a nice clean car for its age and should be a lot of fun.

Very excited about this car and the future content. I purchased a ‘93 5-speed 5.0 car this past summer and it’s in similar condition. Needs/needed clutch, throw out bearing, brakes, shocks, valve cover gaskets, etc. But like this car, mine had a lot going “right” for it at the same time. So just know that your subscribers are all in similar situations and I for one am very excited about following this car’s story. Cheers!

A few fox body red flags there, a sub frame connector and roll bar suggest some track time that stock motor wouldn't have ever warranted. I hope you did finally inspect the torque boxes and the A pillar for cracks. I'm betting this had a non-stock motor and slicks at some point, or at least someone who wished they had that and saw some abuse, but definitely something I'd try to get out of the 10 year owner.
I'd hoped some of the mustang magazine content pro's would come to CZcams to make content after, and glad you are one of them. Putting some article structure and focus with the ability to show more detail will really stand out and is much needed. I'm really looking forward to continuing to follow your work.

Here is your fox checklist hierarchy: Don’t even bother looking at the rest of the car if the strut towers, door hinge pillars, and rear bumper strut supports are rusted-out. Always remove the license plate to inspect the upright for rust. Then run the motor and listen for the usual pinging, tapping, droning, and chatter. Run the heat to see if the heater core is fogging the glass or stinking of glycol as that’s a proper long job. Check the floors for firewall and heater core puddles and flex. Climb under and look for oil pan rust and leaks, and rear main seal leaks. Take the car for a ride and flog the motor with someone driving behind you to see if it’s blowing exhaust smoke through the valve guides, rings, and or head gaskets. Listen for collector leaks under heavy throttle. After the car cools down, look around the timing cover / lower intake interface for coolant leaks. The rest of the stuff you sited (door handles, latches, interior trim seats etc) is trivial compared to the previous show stoppers. You may be replacing the motor, but those new to the fox hobby might actual want to drive the car with the stock mill et al. Cheers!

I can understand kinda pickin it apart for the vid but, if yer buyin a 90' for a real reasonable price plz do not disrespect the seller with a ton of ticky tack BS.
This sellar obviously knows what they are doin but, in normal situations try to be at least respectful and look it over without pointing out everything the seller most likely already knows about.
Its just courtesy that will perhaps get you a better price.
No one is selling a desirable car for no reason.

'79-'93 Fox bodies are very cheaply made from a structural standpoint. The most important area is the floorpan, the thin gauge metal causes the unibody to collapse inward, especially on convertibles. This is the reason 90% of any remaining Fox bodies have subframe connectors, better quality ones incorporate seat reinforcement braces as well(torque boxes are a weak spot too on V8 cars). Back in 1986 a friend of a friend had an '83 Mustang GT and after one ride, you can sense the tin can construction of the body shell, the hood was paper thin too. I am from SoCal, so rust isn't a problem for 90% of cars out here. Open and close the doors, hood and trunk/hatch to give you an idea how the unibody is hopefully square, any binding of these appendages is reason for concern.
You can replace anything mechanical on a car, but if the unibody or body shell(if body on frame construction) is distorted or damaged(either with rust or accident damage), walk away because unless the car is worth much more than a total restoration cost, you'll be upside down.

This is a rare piece for being so old. Its not hard to find a fox body but it’s hard to find one Jim Bob didn’t fix on and ruin. I see these all the time that are in excellent shape but some idiot butchered it up with aftermarket junk and stereo systems. The interior would be the quick buy for me. These fell apart after less than 10 year of ungaraged life and then quick fixes would ensue making bad worse. This thing had to sit in a garage for the first 20 years of it’s life also. 10k worth of parts and a years worth of weekends and the car can easily be factory fresh.
