I believe hockey would be a world sport if it wasn't for the enormous cost of building and maintaining the hockey rink and the steep learning curve of learning to skate.
Yep...it looks really hard. And most countries around the world aren't rich enough to have and maintain multiple hockey rinks.
I played my whole life AAA Hockey and you are bang on my parents use to pay when I was playing Midget minor 10.000 dollars a year on my hockey sometimes more if we went to the states for tournaments or Russia
my hockey skates alone costs 1200 dollars add up all the costs of the equipment if you buy the pro stock gear costs about 3000 dollars then you have to pay 5000 plus dollars a year to play AAA hockey then the costs of tournaments on top of that
@@johnforbes86 oh yeah don’t get me started on juniors
@@blakecouch4621 it's fraud it really is
Hockey is a real man's game!! I grew up playing football, baseball, and soccer but nothing could compare to the feeling of being out on that ice, it's hard to describe. Best time of my life!!
Wow 🤔
you are bang on Hockey is like no other sport it's like sports with a motorcycle on your feet when your gliding down the ice it's like nothing else in sports
The one crucial thing you need to play hockey is a high threshold to pain because your going to experience it in a lot of different ways. The refs enforce the rules to a certain line and the players enforce anything over the line hence dropping the gloves and fighting.
I am a huge American football fan. The best sporting even live is hockey. Playoff hockey is next level. I really wish you could experience it.
The main reason fighting is allowed is because it would be a lot more dangerous if they weren’t allowed..It’s a very physical sport and tensions flare and anger happens often. Without fights, players would most likely have this anger build up and instead of solving it with fisticuffs they injure someone with a dirty hit. It acts as a coolant and self policing thing, if someone has a dirty hit on someone they will most likely pay the price 🤛
To add on to this, when your best scorer is comparatively small it is imperative that you also have a massive physical presence on the ice to keep the other team's big physical presence from killing your goal scorer.
You hit the nail on the head and it's also the reason pitchers in baseball should have to bat.
There was a study that found NHL hits to be 20% harder than NFL hits. This is because of the momentum. Players going 30+ KMH smashing into each other. Guys are huge too
That sounds right. The speed on ice is way higher than on field.
It’s the only sport in the world were part of the game. One of the objective is to hit somebody into it immovable object with the boards.
And you have players whose only job is to wreck the other teeam players as well.
I took my Nigerian friend to his first hockey game here in Calgary Canada and he's a huge fan now! Know's the stats better than me!
One more 'one more thing'...
"Woah! WHAT THE FUCK!? Is this for real?!?" is everyone's first reaction to hockey, and I never get tired of looking them straight in the face and saying "...................yep ☺".
And then I hand them a beer and we become best friends 😆😝😆
Lol
How can I get a beer though 🤔
@@GoddyGE 🍺🍻🍸🍷🍹 😛
I think the best hockey video for you to do next is "The Code". It explains the reason why fighting is part of hockey. The sport started as a game played after work by the copper and nickel miners in the Great Lakes region of North America. Miners drink, miners fight 😆 Fighting has always been present in most sports but in Hockey it evolved into a "Gentlemen's Code of Conduct" when it comes to settling personal disputes. There is a set of mutually agreed upon rules that is accepted by every single player that steps out on the ice. Even as children we know that if you want play Hockey past the age of 15... you play according to "The Code".
...most beautiful game on earth 😊
The NHL is Canada and the US, but hockey is also very popular in European countries like, Russia, Belarus, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, finland, etc
There's an old saying 'I went to the fights and a hockey game broke out'.
Yeah looking forward to seeing those fights lol.
Geez, what year is it in your world?
1979?
Jimmy Carter still president, too?
@@davidd5407 well, he did say that it was an old saying.
Long time ago Len. Very very very long-time ago
Yeah Len, he did. But sometimes old sayings are just that .....old.....and no longer relevant or applicable
I knew you would like this video! hope this helps you look at more NHL videos. You should check out "NHL best dekes and dangles" next. I've enjoyed the videos!
The video blew my expectations.
Video suggestions noted.
YES. You will like NHL dangles, as some skaters can dangle the puck like Ibrahimovic dribbled the ball at his peak.
Been a hockey fan since I was a little kid... watching that gave me a whole new appreciation,
Hockey is just fun
I love the reactions to the slow mo plays, seeing this in real time tho is the best.
One more thing...... I give you my personal assurance that all of the "unbelievable" things you will learn about this sport, its players, and its fans are all absolutely true. FACTS.
.....god I love this game ☺
You should get in touch with Georges Laracque. He is a former NHL hockey player of African descent and he is very good at introducing the game to others.
Ironically, he was one of the game's most feared pugilists ever, but he's one of the classiest gentlemen ive ever met off-ice. Absolutely agreed
Hitting into the glass and fighting is part of the game. It is so amazing to watch
It's worth noting that all the footage in this one is slowed right down. Check out some Connor McDavid highlights for example to get a taste of how fast the game gets. Also, "The Code" does a good job of explaining fighting in the game to those who haven't grown up with it.
Professional hockey as we consider it is the US and Canada, but there is also an International Hockey League that is mainly centered in Europe and includes Russia. European rinks and North American rinks are different in sizes. The Europeans use bigger rinks, and the US uses smaller ones to promote more action and more hitting.
Fighting is definitely a thing - the game is self-policing and the players settle most disputes on the ice. There are unspoken rules of conduct everyone is expected to follow and when one of these rules is broken, someone from the other team has the duty of setting the injustice straight. There are a lot of rules centered around fighting which you can find in videos like “The Code” about the role of fighting and enforcers in the game.
I grew up playing hockey from a very young age, and body checking was permitted from about 13 years old and up. Fighting usually started around late middle school (12-13 years old) or in high school (14-17 years old) where I lived.
Damn that's interesting.
Thanks for the info.
Smaller ice is the most elite and fast thinking hockey on the planet
KHL is now not as international as it was. All non-Russian teams have left the league except for a team in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China. The Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, Finnish, Croatian, and Latvian teams have all left because of financial difficulties or Pootin's War.

it was started in canada but became so popular that the us dominates the hockey market as far as popularity, just by sheer numbers.
12:45 technically its not, both players will receive a 5 minute penalty. but it is not completely outlawed because the fans love it.
I love your excitement of the best spectator sport in the world.
Fighting is part of the game. It’s a way for players to police themselves and protect the star players. If anyone makes a dirty hit you know your going to have to fight on your next shift.
Great video bro. I am a hockey fan for sure. Big San Jose Sharks fan. I like hockey, American football, boxing, MMA. Basically anything violent. I went to a Sharks game once where we sat right next to the rink, right on the other side of the wall (the board) and glass from the players. At one point, a player bodychecked another player so hard into the board and with so much force that players went up in the air and almost came over the glass onto our side where we were sitting! It was awesome!!!
Damn...that's crazy 😳
@@GoddyGE The San Joae Sharks are the NHL team here in the Bay Area. San Jose is also where the San Jose Earthquakes play. They are in the MLS (Major League Soccer). I been to a game years ago when they were playing an exhibition game against a club team from Mexico and I went when they played the LA Galaxy when David Beckman played for LA.
Connor McDavid... most skilled hockey player to date ... video game cheat code
No other team sport has every element that hockey has. Lacrosse is close, but they don't travel at the speed hockey players travel at.
Ice Hockey, this modern version, and Basketball were both invented by Canadians. As a Canadian, who grew up playing hockey and as a proud fan, you are welcome! and you can have basketball!
This rough style of hockey is Canadian Hockey. It is the reason why Canada is the dominate hockey nation in the world - more than twice as many intetnational wins/medals than the next closest country - Russia. Thankfully, some US players and leagues have adopted the Canadian style of hockey and avoid the European Style of hockey.
The NHL was a Canadian league that expanded into the USA. Historically, most NHL players are Canadian, but that has dropped from almost 100% down to 50% today. Even hockey teams in the USA are half Canadian players or more.
Hockey pucks are vulcanized rubber that are frozen for game use, reduces bouncing of puck. Pucks are shot at average speeds of 88 mph up to about 110 mph.
The glass is 1/2 inch thick safety glass. The boards, can move a little, but are not padded and are boards, hard.
Body and Hip checks are legal providing 1) the head is not the initial point of contact 2) you can't your elbow or knee, 3) you don't hit people from behind, on the numbers on back of jersey and 4) hip checks must be above the knee.
Hockey players move at speeds of up to 28 mph and collisions between two players can occur at over 50 mph. Even though hockey players are app 20% smaller than NFL players, NHL Hockey hits are known to be over 20% harder than NFL or rugby. Then they land on ice or are smashed into boards - lol can't run out of bounds, in hockey, to avoid getting hit.
You are not allowed to hit anyone with your stick, unless it was a follow- through on a shot.
Fighting is illegal and results in at least a 5 min penalty or more. Fighting usually results in response to a dirty play/player - retribution and punishment - see ' the code'
Hockey players do not stay down unless they are really hurt, normally they pop back up and keep playing - other sports could LEARN from this
Most common hockey injuries are stitches and loosing teeth aka 'spitting chicklets' - when this happens, hockey players don't usually even miss a shift
Hockey players play through the pain on broken legs, broken feet, broken jaws, noses and facial bones. If at all humanly or inhumanly possible, hockey players finish their shift, the game and the series.
Ice Hockey is rated as the SECOND most difficult and tough sport, just behind boxing. Less than a 1% difference between the two. It is followed by football, mma....but who really cares about that.
Each game is a full 60 minutes, made up of three 20 min periods. The clock is stopped when game play is halted.
The NHL regular season is 82 games ( also has pre-season) and Stanley Cup Playoffs where you must win '4' best of 7 series, hence a minimun of 16 games to a maximum of 28 games played! An entire football season just to win the cup! Hence, it is the hardest trophy in professional sports to win! Finally,
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE
PLAY-OFF HOCKEY!
Fights are how you settle beefs on the ice (sometimes off). Both guys go and sit in timeout essentially for 5 minutes then come back in play lol. Old saying about the game "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out".
I went to a hockey game, and 2 men decided to resolve a problem

The fighting mainly happens in the NHL in US and Canada.
Canada has 7 NHL teams. The rest (25) are in the USA . Even Florida and Las Vegas have NHL teams.
Wow...I guess I figured since its played on ice, that Canada would have more.
@@GoddyGE only 34 mil people in Canada. 350 mil in USA .
But also it get so cold in Northern US States that ponds/lakes freeze over to play hockey.
@@GoddyGE the teams are all over the USA but I’m pretty sure Canadians and Russians dominate the league more than Americans.
@@derekshirley5543 For last season, the breakdown by country was 43% Canadian, 28% American, 9.5% Swedish, 5.4% Finnish, 5.1% Russian, 3.5% Czech, and the rest were from 11 other European countries, plus one player from Australia. 15-30 years ago, there were more Russian players, before Russia created its own elite league, the KHL. In the 1960s, when there were only 6 NHL teams and about 100 players, there was one American (Tommy Williams from Duluth, Minnesota) and every other player was Canadian.
@@JPMadden okay, good to know. I realize there are a few prominent Russian players in the NHL but I was not certain how many in total.
7 teams in Canada, 25 teams in the US
That goal scored by ELHAE against the Rangers that was for the Stanley Cup. That’s why it was such a tremendous response by that guy.
The NHL is made up mostly of American teams, though there are some Canadian teams too. Canada has traditionally had the biggest hockey following, but the game has grown immensely in the US and there are a ton of US born players now both in the NHL and in hockey leagues across the world.
I love your honest reaction
IT IS PART OF THE GAME MY FRIEND
In America, NFL is king and it's not even close. It goes NFL, MLB (baseball), NBA, NHL, MLS (major league soccer)
That's for most of the U.S., but hockey is #1 in the winter in some northern parts of the country. We love hockey, but I wouldn't disrespect Canadians by saying that it's equal in intensity to theirs. It's on a whole other level there. I've watched "Sportscenter" in Quebec--the first 50+ minutes are hockey, and the rest of the hour is all the other sports.
@@JPMadden NBA is runs the winter months and I'm a Penguins fan
In the north it's pretty accessible, we would play on frozen ponds or rivers during the winter for free, but I moved to Arizona in the desert and it costs me fortune to play out here, around 3 or 4 thousand a year for ice time, league fees and equipment.
No team from Canada has won the Stanley Cup in 30 yrs.
When a fight starts, the refs will wait, for the most part, until the players fall to the ice before jumping in,to avoid getting hit themselves..
There is professional ice hockey.....and then there is every other game on the planet......trailing far behind.....
The toughest, hardest, fastest, most dynamic game on the planet.
Bar none.
You are my new favorite reactor on CZcams! I think it's time for you to react to "Best Dangles in NHL History", or if you are a bigger fan of goalkeepers, "Best Saves in NHL History" :)
Thanks...that means a lot.
Your suggestions are noted.
Hockey is huge in Europe as well.
Just no NHL team there.
Learning to skate is not difficult.
But pushing a puck around and not getting flattened is a skill few have.
Skating is the most difficult part of the entire game for an average of starting from ground zero just playing a simple, not a pro league. Will take anywhere between five and seven years to accomplish that.
React to Alexander Ovechkin ! Very spectacular player.
Nice vid bro, keep it up
In a sport where the players are wielding literal weapons (razor shoes and carbon fiber clubs) and skating at speeds upwards of 40km/h, its often safer to let them square up and fight face to face, 1 on 1, in a semi controlled environment, rather than let tempers build up until someone dive kicks you in the neck with said razor shoes
Damn lol
That's tough.
I don't think it would go as far as trying to stab someone with a skate. lol. But fighting is basically a pressure release for players. The Code should be a video you react to GoddyGE. It explains some of the unwritten rules of the NHL.
@@daveb947 well at the very least, trying to split the opposing team player's skull with a wooden stick has happened before. Stick blade slashes to the knee, hard enough to break tendons and ligament, have happened. Blindside cross-checks, slamming the other player's face into the ice with your stick, has happened.
@@simplyskrypt3914 I know. I used to watch in the 80s when the players were way more aggressive. I was just talking about the modern "clean" hockey. Dirty hits and slashes will never be fully eliminated.
As far as the US, it is most popular in Great Lakes and New England regions. More specifically, players that go pro from the US are most commonly from Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Michigan. That said, while there are several sports with a larger audience in the southern states, the hockey fans there are every bit as knowledgeable and passionate as any anywhere. I am from Oklahoma and work in hockey and have personally dealt with people from all over the world. Lots of smart hockey people in the south. The southern US is very underrated when it comes to hockey markets. Dallas, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Nashville have all been successful on the NHL level, Tulsa has some of best attendance numbers in the ECHL year after year, Alabama is extremely passionate about hockey with Alabama-Huntsville having an NCAA squad and Huntsville and Birmingham having a great rivalry in the SPHL, Texas has wonderful junior programs and collegiate club teams as well as Cedar Park always packing H-E-B Center in support of the AHL's Texas Stars. Long way to answer your question if hockey is popular in the entire US lol. Short answer: yes.
Most of nhl teams are in us but there’s a good amount in canada
There's so much contact in blocking that anybody who feels like they're getting targeted for too much shoving around will get their feelings bent out of shape and Boom! Punches thrown. The initiating player or both (or more) gets time in the penalty box and their team plays with one less player on the ice in the meantime, regardless substitutions. (And incidentally, if somebody goes too far, criminal charges for assault can be filed, a semi-recent court case showed. But it has to go really, really far, for instance, breaking a nose or knocking out teeth probably doesn't qualify.)
Hockey is popular across Northern Europe, too, and really big in Russia. Some cities in the Southern US have pro hockey teams, but it's far more popular in places where ponds freeze over in winter and kids grow up playing pick up games (although pond rules use playground or street rules regarding violence, and little league rules generally forbid outright violence or extreme blocking).
Field Hockey is mainly a women's sport, similar rules except no ice, their sticks are also bent, but rounded like a bat, and they use a ball.
Thanks for the info.
I didn't know it was that big in Russia.
To answer your questions about fighting in hockey. It’s an unwritten rule if the referees don’t call something you think should have been called. The players make up for it with fighting. Aka being men.
that puck is getting colder and colder and harder the more it is on the ice they can hit the puck at over 100hp in some cases and anyone that has been hit by the puck knows what it feels like when it hits you nothing can get you ready for that hit and you dont forget it each time it can hit you we used to play street hockey also and we played just as rough lots of fun also
It’s something to consider it’s the only sport in the world where there’s no Outabounds you can’t run you can’t hide if you pretend to be hurt that’s a penalty. If you pretend multiple times you get fined and many cases, the coach will be fined. Reason ice hockey has fighting is there has to be some other method by which players can resolve differences you can’t have players swinging sticks at each other or attacking each other with the stick so, if both players agree to fight, you can drop your gloves, you can settle it and that keeps a lot of the old time hockey stuffcom, back in the 60s and 70s. It was not uncommon to see multiple fights on the ice we’re police was sent out it’s not a game with someone who bullshits survives a very long Time.
Fighting is a penalty. Anyone could fight but usually each team has enforcers who typically do the fighting. It doesn't happen every game so don't think it's a major part of the sport. It's used to increase morale of the team or to retaliate for a cheap shot on a top player.
The video you watched is a good introduction but the one thing that you didn't get from it is seeing everything at full speed. Every clip you watched was in slow motion. The actual game speed is around 20 mph (32 km/h) and the fast players can skate as fast as 30 mph (48 km/h). Also when player shot the puck at the net, they shoot between 80 mph (129 km/h) and 110 mph (177 km/h).
So that's why this video mentioned that they have to withstand hits harder than in American Football because imagine you have a 200 lb (90 kg) player skating 20 mph with the puck in one direction and a 200 lb opponent skating at 20 mph towards him in opposite direction and they collide. The force is significantly higher than what's possible running.
Then when it said you need to have Brain surgeon reaction, well it's because of the pace of the game. At that speed and the puck is nothing more than a solid rubber biscuit that weighs around 6 oz (170 g).
By NHL regulation, the puck is a cylinder of hard rubber measuring 76mm in diameter and 25mm thick with a weight between 154-168 grams. What some of those players can do with it is pretty astounding.
Go Kraken.
7 Canadian teams and 25 American teams
Canada and the US fight for the victory every season. The US usually wins but us Canadians absolutely live for hockey!
Your kidding lol..typical American response..Dude..it's the other way around..CANADA typically wins at every level..Olympics ..world cup..juniors..check your stats before saying something stupid..you don't know hockey my friend..Canada invented hockey and we will always rule..FACTS
Professional hockey is throughout the US, but high school and university hockey is primarily in northern states. And yes, fighting is allowed, and believe it or not, there are rules about it!
What kind of rules...like "don't punch to hard"? 😏
@@GoddyGE you should watch "the code" it talks about the rules of fighting
yes and no where do all the good American and Canadian players play in High school the CHL the Canadian hockey league and there is three leagues in that Canadian league OHL QJMHL and WHL then div 1 hockey follows just after that league
Fighting is "allowed" (with a 5-minute penalty) only in the professional leagues and the semi-pro Canadian Major Junior leagues (ages 15-20). Fighting is not allowed in any youth, college, or adult amateur leagues, as far as I know.
@@JPMadden you are right you can fight in college but I think it's a game misconduct in AAA hockey in canada midget age group you could fight but 10 min misconduct but now of days I think thats changed to
This was fun to watch. Ice hockey is played in Africa (Algeria, Morocco, South Africa and Tunisia are all full members of the International Ice Hockey Federation, while I think Namibia used to be). There is also a good video that was done by a British CZcamsr a few years ago about hockey players in Kenya. The trick is having enough ice and enough equipment - both of which are incredibly expensive if you don’t live somewhere naturally cold. It’s not like football, where all you really need is a ball.
The US has many NFL teams in different states. Glad you're enjoying it 😊
Believe it or not, fighting actually makes the game safer. It forces you to think twice about trying to hurt a star player
you are bang on I played AAA my whole life and if no one will fight for the skilled players teams will just take out your best players or at least try
That's a fair point.
In 1982 during a junior game Struck in the face with a shot. It broke a lot of things knocked out a lot of teeth. I didn’t go to the hospital right away and I actually finish the game that’s a little extreme but it’s not abnormal when it was all set and done I’ve broken my orbit, my cheek and my jaw and lost seven teeth and my coach at one question for me. Do you think you’ll be ready in a week? I told him I’d be ready in two days.
Like the title said. Greatest game on earth 😍
Thats what it is called in hockey to a chip or wrist flick
You have to check out skateboard fails bails and head slams.
Its been noted. Coming in the future.
I have played hockey my entire life and I referee as a side job. I love it. I started skating at age 3 so it was always natural to me.
Fighting is “allowed” in the professional leagues (in North America) and most adult amateur leagues. Both players get a 5 minute penalty and usually that’s it. Kids up through high school typically get suspended for 1-2 games for fighting but it still happens sometimes. It’s been part of the game for over 100 years and actually makes the game safer for the players. Watch The Code video for a great explanation.
I'd recommend this hockey clip, Alex Ovechkin's top-10 best plays.
He's the greatest goal scorer of all-time, he's a big dude who can play physical, and he's just got some *fantastic* highlight reel plays.
czcams.com/video/z3yfLUFBmII/video.html
One thing I love about this video is that not only is it a great collection (I might quibble a bit, but they mostly got the best highlights), but it also shows each play a few times, from different angles, and slows it down, so you get a few chances to see what happened. That's particularly helpful for #6
(Some people will quibble over calling him the greatest goal scorer of all-time; he's not #1 in total goal scored, but when you factor in for era/goals scored per era, it's easily him. Judging him against players who played when the non-athletes were forced to play goalie, vs now when world-class athletes play the position, with out-sized goalie pads, and there's a scientific approach to the position, vs the free-for-all shit they used to have... it's just not the same.
THAT BEING SAID, anybody who denigrates Gretzky because of the more open-scoring era he played in... dude was twice as good as the next best player, it's not even close. He still easily gets the title of the greatest *player* in NHL history. But Ovie's the greatest goal scorer. And a fun player to watch whose excitement and enthusiasm for the game is evident every time he or a teammate scores.)
Fighting is allowed so players will not kill each other during the games due to the hard hits.
You are correct, a puck is a flat circular disc. It is 1 inch thick and 3 inches across and made of Vulcanized rubber. Basically the same material they make car tires from only it's a solid chunk, it's not inflated by air at all.
They are then frozen solid prior to the game and they will periodically switch pucks out to keep them frozen. If a puck gets too warm it becomes "bouncy" and doesn't glide as easily on ice as a frozen one.
The way they're able to lift the pucks is mostly due to the stick blades themselves being curved rather than anything to do with the pucks.
Yes I thought as much. The blade has to have some kind of curved edge for that trick to be possible.
If you want to call something a national sport. It’s hockey in Canada. Every boy wants to be a hockey star here. I would equate it with soccer. It’s our national sport
Most of the clips you’re seeing is from Canadian people
I’m Canadian so a lot of this stuff is no big deal.
Most hits were legal and most playes get up but you don't see that. NHL players don't go down or stay down unless they are KO or really hurt (ie. need a stretcher or need to be carried off ice)
Hockey players most common injuries are stiches and/or losing teeth otherwise known as 'spitting chicklets'. Both of these injuries rarely result from that player missing their next shift! Furthermore, if broken bones result (face, nose jaw...) that player will usualky come back for their next shift, wearing a facemask or visor. If they broken bones in ryheir feet or legs, they will keep playing if at all humanly or inhumanly possible - lots of known instances of broken feet/legs where the player came back to finish game/series. Even broken ribs with punctured lung (D Krejci) and ruptured disks in spine (J Quick) haven't kept them out of the game or those playoffs.
NHLl players are approximately 20% smaller than NFL players but theNHL hits are 17% harder than NFL and that does not factor in landing on ice nor the slighter padding worn by NHL players for increased mobility required.
Legal Hits
Head cannot be principle and/
or first point of contact
Hip Checks
Hip contact must be above
knee
Usually if a dirty hit occurs fight, aka ' the code' usually results - see 'the brawl in hockeytown'
This type of physically brutal hockey is known as 'Canadian Hockey'. In the world of hockey (ie IIHF and Olympics) Canada has more than twice as many wind/medals than any other country, with Russia being the next closest. For the NHL, almost 50% of all players are still Canadian (down from over 90+% in the last 30yrs). So despite the NHL team name being US, most players on those teams are Canadian and it is generally known that, to win the Stanley Cup - it takes Canadian Players!
Ice Hockey IS Canada's Official Winter Sport, while Lacrose is Canada's Official Summer sport.
Ice Hockey, this modern version of any combination and number of vaguely similar stick/ball games, is Canadian.
Hence, Canada invented both ice hockey and basketball.
As a Canadian hockey player, you can have basketball!
Ice Hockey Rules, Canada Dominates!
Also your question about where hockey is in the United States? Well professionally, as in NHL teams, they are located throughout the entire country basically! There are probably technically more NHL teams in the Eastern US but that’s because it is more settled and developed than the West. As for college or high school or where the vast majority of US NHL players come from and where hockey is more culturally popular is definitely the east coast region and midwestern regions of the United States. The most NHL players from the US come from probably Minnesota possibly Michigan, quite a bit from Wisconsin, and the east coast states aswell. But Canada has us vastly beat in terms of number of NHL players despite having 1/10th (even less possibly) of the total population of the United States
Hockey is great. It is not a ball but a puck, a hard rubber disk that players try to score on the goalie with. The shots can be super fast so if you get hit with a puck it can cause damage. One thing in this video is it’s in slow motion so you can see what is happening but it’s a very fast game. Lots of fun. It originated in Canada but there are many teams now in the US. 32 teams in both USA and Canada. And of course they play it in Europe and Russia too.
Most the nhl teams are in the u.s. there are about 4 or 5 Canadian teams.
Check out volume 2 of this
I think you should watch “the code” next
Another stand up comedy video you should react to is by the comedian Gabriel Iglesias called "Racist Gift Basket:. It's hillarious!
I really wanna do comedy, but it seems you're the only one that's requested for it...maybe I'll have to start another channel for other stuff outside of music, sports and action 🤔
@@GoddyGE I'll stop making comedy suggestions since most of your audience isn't really into it. Stick to what works for you my dude. Stick to the niche that you find works for you. Otherwise you won't continue to grow.
You have ice, just build a rink, fill it with water and freeze it.
Most countries around the world are too poor to maintain such a facility. For example my country, even if the money was available, the officials would sooner embezzle the money 😔
@@GoddyGE 😞
Hockey is Canada’s National sport. The NHL teams are in Canada and the U.S. There are more teams in the US because the U S population is nearly 400 million people, compared to Canada’s 38 million so they have many more cities and the money to support more teams. However all NHL players currently are 52% Canadian….28% American and the rest are Russians, Swedes, Finns, Czechs, Germans etc. In the 1970’s 96% of the players were Canadian.
1/8 of an inch is about 3mm.
You know, while it is hard to get ice rinks in africa, i believe it wouldnt be too hard to get you guys some hockey sticks and tennis balls. Get yourselves a flat surface like a school gym and you can play a variant called hockey cosom, with 95% of the same rules, but on a smaller field and without skates. 5 on 5, 3 forwards, 2 defense, plus the goalies. Teams consist of 4 forward lines, 3 defense pairs and 2 goalies
I think we can do field hockey. But you got a nice idea for an improvised ice hockey.
Nice reaction love it!!
sadly this video make you miss the most important part of hockey.....SPEED!!! everything was on slow motion, on normal speed it's even more spectacular!!
keep the good job👊
from Montréal
Thank you.
It is mainly a sport enjoyed more in northern states than anywhere else in the country, although their a few more southern cities that seem to really take to it like Nashville, Tampa, and out west San Jose, and LA comes to mind. It’s gotten big in Vegas too. Huge in Colorado, but that makes sense actually.
Probably overall it is the 4th most popular sport out of the 4 major sports though in the US. Although not sure how baseball maintains any popularity. Even though I like baseball it’s just slow.
Overall, it is definitely more a Canadian sport. Number one without a doubt in Canada.
Try looking up “Vancouver sings Canadian national anthem during playoffs”…some of the crowds at hockey games are unreal. Not college football level necessarily, but still extremely passionate.

If you like hockey videos you should look at nhls filthiest goals of the season video. It shows a lot of the skill

Kenya has a national ice hockey team.
I'm seriously shocked 😲...I had no freaking idea.
@@GoddyGE many videos on CZcams to explore on Kenya’s squad. Maybe catch some videos on the Indians in ladakh playing hockey. Saudis and Israelis play hockey too, but that’s whatever. Thai, South Africa, Malaysia play hockey but they’re videos are scarce.
You were talking about Ronaldinho and how he would head fake and ball roll on people it’s the same kind of deal but just on skates and a tiny little rubber thing
Exactly 💯
players are getting smaller, and skill is being pushed more than size.....but when shanahan played, the boys were monsters and played like they hated and wanted to kill eachother. its still rough. but not like in his days lol
Why is fighting allowed? IMO it's simply because the game is so inherently dangerous that when emotions on the ice start to frazzle, people get stupid and do dangerous things. This is when people get seriously hurt. One good fight is usually enough to snap everyone back to reality. Fighters in the game of hockey are also known as cops, because they police the game and keep things from getting too crazy.
Welcome to the greatest game on Earth, and go Sharks!
Thank you 😊
But soccer is still the greatest 😒
Basketball is the greatest game..... Let's go Pens lol
the nhl has 13 teams from canada because there is less people and the rest are americans teams that’s why most other sports canada only has 1 team cause they aren’t as big as hockey
Seriously Hockey hits are 20%. Harder than NFL hits.
1 inch thick orange is the cross and I think it weighs between four and 6 ounces which produce solid it has the same consistency as aluminum and any weekend player can chew the fuck up to 70 maybe 80 miles an hour a good college player in the 90s and most players in the NHL can shoot in the 90s and a select few can get up into the triple digits it’s frighteningly fast fuck from 20 feet away and you don’t see it Just suddenly hear it hit the boards behind you it’s

Fights are part of the game
Great video, but I find it amusing who they asked, "is hockey hard?" Brendan Shanahan is in the Hockey Hall of Fame, so it wasn't as hard for him as it is for virtually everyone else!
Keep reacting brother here's a good one to start with I played my whole life up to semi pro so a good video idea would be to react to Detroit Red wings versus avalanche 97 brawl or if you like finesse look up NHL finesse or dangles

That's interesting, New York has two teams.

@@GoddyGE There is a third team in the New York City metropolitan area--the New Jersey Devils.
I'm a NFL fan but hockey hits way more brutal and faster
I can see that...I'm quite shocked TBH
Good reaction video Bro! It's not a ball, it's a hard rubber disc over one inch thick and about 4 inches in diameter and it's called a PUCK.
Thank you...
