Can’t understand why anyone thinks he’s arrogant. He’s as humble as FK! Admitted to being nervous, said he doesn’t want to hurt anyone, was critical of his own performance and was grateful for any compliments. Give the guy a break!

Yea, It's not easy to truthfully express oneself when you don't speak the language to that extend even more if you are under media pressure, you may than come of as arrogant or whatever.

It is because he does not speak english very well. He is actually very respectfull but not able to express his kindness in another language.
I am from Czech rep. and listening him in english sounds like he is another guy :D. His respones than sounds like he is arogant because he speaks so simple trying to avoid embarrassment.
I dont like the hype hes getting for dancing around like a goober. Man was rocked hard twice and still dancing. Wont get far trying to take hits like that

This is true Volkan is a fighter i happen to like quite a bit and i was rooting for him on this card. Another exciting star is always good though 205 needs more competent challengers with Jon out of the picture for the near future. The UFC will have to make a decision about that soon enough though and we will see.

And why even bring Jones up? He’s on his way out, and not particularly relevant anymore
He barely speaks English but still makes more sense than Jon Jones he just want to punch people in the face just what we want from a fighter.

You certainly experienced difficulties speaking English too and yet you got all these likes. Except the dude is super smart and when you hear him speaking his native tongue it's a whole different story
The fact he said he wants more fights before thinking about Jon Jones and shows respect for Jones and took his time entering the ufc being smart and getting more experience gives me confidence he could be a future champ
He was fighting in ring in RIZIN. Now he need just a few fights in oktagon again, and then he will show us his best. But as he said, he will fight enybody, he feels, je can be the best. That is a bit of what he said in a past.
If he knocks out his next opponent hes gonna sky rocket up the rankings. Hes already at #7. Wonder who should be next. Hes a unicorn. Hope he pans out.

He even acknowledges he needs more experience before fighting Jon. I think he beats Reyes. Don't know about Jan or Corey or some of the wrestlers tho

For those who are saying that he is arrogant, let me explain it a bit. Because he is certainly not.
First of all he is just more sort of a thinker not talker. Even in his native speech you can sometines hear that he can not express himself enough compared to what he has in his mind.
Secondly even if he was in Rizin where he had to deal with some media pressure, this is UFC his big dream and after first match with top 10 fighter. I definitely give him a credit for going there and giving some answers with such a poor english. It could give some pain in the ears to the native speakers but you can not deny that with these few words he could express himself quite exactly.
Thirdly: how could he be arrogant if he is talking critically about his performance, talking humble about Jones and basically about all the oponents he could meet on his way to the dream title.
And last I could think of: English and Czech languages are really different in many ways. Many english speakers could say that Czechs, are arrogant and many Czechs would say that english speakers are fake. Czech language is much more straightforward, we are getting to the point much faster. Of course if we dont get the question right, we dont reply just simple: WHAT? as Jiří did but we would say something like: What did you say? Put it on his poor english not arrogance. But even that longer version would english it sound a bit arrogant. We just dont say these long sentences like: Excuse me I could not understand the question well. Could you please simplify it?
He is also often keeping the czech word order and translating the words one by one.
I think with few times a week with native speaker on skype or face to face would help him to improve a lot and you could see better his true personality.

Just to make sure "Denisa" ain't misunderstood here. He's being limited with his English so there are moments when he might be looking arrogant, but he isn't. He doesn't wanna fight Jones now. He knows there's a lot to do. One success instantly doesn't bring up another. He knows that. He has admitted upon this conversation he needs to get his ass move better and need to be more focused as opposed to the 1st round with Volkan. And that he needs to get thru a couple of fights before addressing Jones or anybody else for title. This guy is so humble and down to Earth person, I can guarantee that.
This guy has a future in ufc. Like to see him fight Johnny Walker. That could be fun scrap

ak by si registroval ako rozpraval po anglicky,respektíve nerozprával pár rokov dozadu, tak by si si všimol, že tu anglinu už dosť zlepšil, ale samozrejme stále je čo zlepšovať, v ufc je hromada zápasníkov ktorí nevedia z daleka tolko po anglicky čo on.
to byl jeho první zápas pod Americkou organizací, podívej se třeba na Alda který tam je věky a pořád dělá rozhovory v portugalštině...
Popravě já koukám, jak se zlepšil. Driv to bylo par slov a hodne chyb. Ted umí i vnimat otázky a jen hledá správná slova. Vše je otazka času. Stále roste.💪😎

Does anyone knows what kind of marcial art/fighting principles Jiri follows? He has done some different stuff on his fight with Volkan. That stuff where he pretends his wrist is hurt, for example... it's like a primitive way of fighting, kinda like an animal... Does anyone knows where that comes from?
He spent his spiritual life learning the code of Bushido and he follows it every time. He tries to explain his art of concentration, preparation and spiritual strenght in many Czech interviews. Altho I'm Czech too, I cannot explain his nature entirely here, since I don't understand it fully.
His background is Muay Thai

He is not arrogant at all by the way. He just struggle to put out words to describe things, so he is using shortcuts quite often (even more so in English).

Od člověka který neumí anglicky to nikdo jako drzost rozhodně nebere. Člověk by musel byt dobře vylizaný, když mu nedojde, že slovo what použil protože musí přemýšlet a lovit každé slovíčko, které má říct anglicky.
