Hindu Academy aims to promote a Comprehensive and Rational vision of Hinduism incorporating ideas of Religious Pluralism, Spiritual Humanism, and resonance between Science and Spirituality. It operates with the education establishments by working with schools colleges and universities as well as in the mainstream media.
The role and relevance of Hinduism in contemporary society
Hinduism has a great deal to contribute towards the spiritual health of the modern world. Its inherent pluralistic teachings offer the best resolution to how people of different religions can co-exist peacefully in a multi-faith society. Hinduism even allows for spirituality to be explored in non-religious modes, making teachings relevant and interesting for the youth of today. Family values promoted by Hinduism can foster more stable family units and better community cohesion. The reconciliation between the truth claims of a science oriented worldview and a religiously oriented worldview is obligatory in this century. The Hindu Academy invokes findings at the cutting edge of modern sciences to promote this reconciliation.

How would there be a democracy in Hindu Rashtra?
By the way since Zoroastrians came to India, Muslims followed them here and since that time Zoroastrians have been living with mixed communities.
The reason majority of Zoroastrians from Persia converted to Islam is because similarity between the two religions, one God, one book of laws, similar or same traditions, what do Zoroastrians have in common with Hindus?

    • @silentstorm718
      @silentstorm718 Před 5 měsíci +4

@@YaserFarid Hindu traditions and Zoroastrianism stem from the same ancient grouping of peoples. There are a tremendous number of linguistic cognates in Old Persian and Sanskrit. Devas and Asuras appear in both religions except in sort of opposite roles/positions. The Persians read Gathas while Hindus read Kathas. The jihadist invaders of Persia persecuted the Zoroastrians and that's why the latter fled to India. This is why Iranians today are generally relinquishing Islam. May God bless the Iranians in their crusade against the false religion of the mullahs.

There is one thing in the video which I would like to correct, if you allow me :)
You said the zoroasterianism is so tiny are vanishing out. That could be an unfortunate truth, if you look at the Mazdaism/Zoroastrianism as a "system" of religion. However, the fact is that Sufism is all about Zoroastrianism. Sufism is rooted in the teachings of Mithra, Zarathustra, and Mani (all pre-Islamic Iranian). This is why Sufism can also coexist with Hinduism in India too. The teaching of this great man (Zarathustra) is not only lost, but polished and flourished by Sufism poetry and Music, and become much shinier than before Islam (when Zoroastrianism was a systematic religion).
The lower educated Sufis just might not know this, because this could create problems in some intolerant Islamic societies. But prominent Sufis all know this. Also, poetry of Rumi, Hafez, Saadi, Attar, Khayyam all is about ridiculing the Sharia Law and Islamic rituals (such as Haj, Fasting, animal killing, and Jihad), and focusing on Humanity, love, wisdom and art, regardless of color, and religion.

    • @nomesa7374
      @nomesa7374 Před 5 lety +10

Also, it would be nice to research about the influence of dual philosophy of Zarathustra (light-darkness, rightness-lie, God-Ahriman) on Eastern philosophies (like Taoism, Yin-Yang or Zenism), and the influence of Zarathustra's concept on peronal development and humanism on the inner journey of Buddhism.

And that was done at least 1100 years ago when civilizations and societies were more small minded. We have prospered in India and it would be unthinkable for us to bite the hand that once helped us to our feet.

Hindu’s and Zoroastrians do come from the same background. You can see this link within the etymology of the languages with many words having the same root language. Also, the Gods of pre-Zoroastrianism and the Vedic people are the same. Indra is verethragna, Mitra, Ahura Mazda or Hormazd has a lot in common with Varuna. Apam Napat is a title commonly applied to Agni. I’ve seen Tishtrya be compared with Rudra (both are associated with the Dog Star Sirius). Tishtrya/Tir was even conflated with the Sumerian God Nabu *Tiri. Even Europeans originally came from the Middle East/India. A treaty between the Hittites and Mitanni (c. 1380 BCE) the deities invoked in it are Varuna, Mithra, Indra and the Ashvins. I think the divide between the Asuras and Devas was due to a political fall out. The Rig Veda calls a bunch of deities both Asuras and Devas. Some Vedic deities are even still recognized as divinities within Zoroastrianism. Even in the Celtic mother Goddess Danu is in the Rig Veda and is originally a Vedic deity. Basically what I’m saying is we are all connected , somehow, someway.

Jay is one of my all time favourite story tellers.
I have been sharing & promoting his videos on Social media going back years.
My understanding of the story is a little different.
Yes they fled Islamic persecution. 90% of them converted. But there were some very staunch believers who refused to convert to Islam. So they fled Iran men women and children. They were willing to face the danger of the open ocean in their small boats vs converting.
They landed on the shores of Gujarat.
The king at the time called for the representatives of these people who had landed up on the shores of his kingdom. And he was led to understand that they wanted to settle in his kingdom.
The king was hesitant to accept these new strangers. To his land.
So he asked for a vessel filled to the brim with milk. And he indicated to them just as the vessel was filled to the brim. So was his kingdom. There was no place to accept them. At this time one of the members took some sugar and mixed it with the milk. Indicating that we will merge with you. Without taking up any space yet enhancing the taste of the milk.
The king was so impressed with with this gesture that he allowed them to stay.
They on their side showed a lot of wisdom.
They adopted the ways of their new motherland.
They adopted the language, the dress, the food. The culture. While retaining their own unique religious identity. They did not target the local hindu women for marriage. Or for conversion.
In fact they are the gold standard for what a refuge should be like.
Now many hundreds of years latter they have more or less merged into India.
Think about this when the 26/11 terror attacks happened in India.
The Islamic terrorists picked 4 targets.
Two of them were Parse owned. One was the Taj and the other was the Parse Bakery. The third was a jewish priest and the 4th the railway station.
I have dedicated my life to showing how much in common the Hindus and Zoroastrians have. From the use of fire in almost every religious ritual.
To the quest we have for finding and living in the one true reality.
You can find my collection of links here.

    c. Praying 5 times a day.
    d. Pre Prayer rituals.
    e. The very concept of heaven and hell the day of judgement the bridge we must cost.
    f. Angels and demons.

Oops, sorry to get carried away there, but these Protestants began making very unfounded statements first about Scientology & then about other faiths. This man very calmly listened & then, when he spoke, his statements were so profound, so sensible & so logical, that those ding-bats were speechless - I LOVED it!!
I'm prevailed 2b born a Zoroastrian, & proud to choose it as my religion. I've spent most of my life in the US but I consider myself a Hindustani Zoroastrian, because my MotherLand is India & I LOVE my Hindustan for Her constitution, Her fair laws, (I'm a PoliticalScience Major), Her Religious Tolerance, and Her democracy. Not 2worry about Zoroastrianism dying out, not a chance!! Quality not Quantity is what has kept us a "mingling minority" in this large world. Long Live the Hindustani Parsi Bond, Ahmain, Ahmeen, Amen - Ushta-te & Jai Hind!!

Parsis are disproportionately better off in India and are able to contribute to philanthropically because when the British were in power, they solicited minorities (visibly-non brown & culturally different) to aid them in businesses by giving them contracts and Parsis were the major beneficiaries. They couldn't possibly enrich themselves and avoid philanthropy in India where the vast masses are religious and charitable enough to allow sanyasis to survive through bhiksha. Tata has probably given more to US universities including Cornell than to Indian institutions. Possible tax offset reasons for their US businesses. Parsis are leaving India for the UK & US, generation after generation, not realizing they will be treated as 2nd and 3rd class citizens there and will never get the chance to integrate into their societies as they have so well in India. (I went to a private Parsi school in Mumbai and have witnessed developments at close hand - each new generation seems to have developed a chip on their shoulder and see differences when there are none to be seen.)

It isn't true that the US will treat them poorly. The US has been very effective at integrating many groups. The Parsis fit in well here and we want them (and we want many other Indians too). We want any friendly and competent people who will help us build, create technologies, etc.

well my theory goes like asura was a term for humans, or something which portray humans, their gods which of cource ruled over humans were also asuras, now I think these terms were from a time when sumerians and assyrians were the popular kingdoms, the sumerians were just banished people from the akkadians govt, sumerians looked black and to distinguish themselves from their adversary the akkadians made some changes in their names, now they named themselves dev-asura, the changed asuras, and that, asuras are those who are ignorent implying the akkadians for their unruly behavior towards them. Now the thing is if you bear with me. I think the sumerians were the ones that led on to create the Indus valley civilization when pushed and pressured to leave their land in sumer, they then went on to make indra, Shiva and other gods we know of. Now the akkadians were the adversary , now both these groups were actually the follower of the same faith, but made some changes in names, later on one such king named Zoroaster(possibly a descendent of akkadians) made his own religion which we now know as Zoroastrianism and the now pushed sumerians which were in the Indian subcontinent were living their life peacefully. Now with the passage of time. The newer generation of white males pushed these somewhat docile sumerians into the south of persent day india and is what we know them of as dravidians, the new white people now came to India and made themselves the authority over other people and what greater an authority is greater than the authority of the religion, so they (Aryan invasion) moved into India, collected the knowledge of the sumerians and classified their gods as the prime gods - vishnu and brahma and wrote down the collective knowledge they now posesses(Vedas and upnishads) and indicated that the gods that you(dravidians) follow like ram, krishna and other notable/popular/respected people were just reincarnations of our God(vishnu) to know superiority, so now accept this caste system we present you and be with it. And the rest of India kinda accepted it.
You might realise that there is no proper hierarchy in Hinduism. Their is somewhat ambiguous roles of bhrama and vishnu and most of the importance however given to shiva but equivalent place is given to vishnu without much involvement in any of the stories expect for claiming the glory and indra the true king of heaven is not revered as much. I don't know I can be utterly wrong at many places entirely wrong on the whole concept. It's something that just came up to my mind that's it. I am open to positive discussion though.

Actually re-Islamic Indians fought the bloodiest battle in the history of mankind, where, according to their own count, 4 million people died in 18 days in the battle of Kurukshetra in 500 BC. By the time of Ashoka, the number of Buddhist in India ran up to several millions, making it the second largest religion of India. However, after Ashoka, and subsequent centuries, Buddhist were slaughtered and mostly evicted out of India. They seem to respond in kind to Hinduism by wiping it out from Laos, Cambodia call Ma Thailand, so that the worlds largest temple is it in Cambodia but hardly any Hindus live there now.
