I actually heard Hala Hala was supposed to be their debut, but decided it was a bit too extreme to Introduce them for the first time with such an aggressive song and mv. So they debuted with Pirate King and Treasure and had their comeback later with SMN and Hala Hala. This actually worked well since their storyline weaves in and out of their past and present. Welcome aboard the ship lol ❤🏴☠️

That's cool. I could see why they made that decision. Pirate King has a great sound and shows off a lot of their abilities. Hala Hala is one of my favorites but it is definitely more aggressive than Pirate King. 😊
KQ did an excellent job stretching their budget so they could have two MVs per title track. Typically, one was a performance video since they're economical to make.
You really figured out that part of the lore quickly! Regular ATEEZ are from universe A and are just called ATEEZ. Their alter egos from universe Z were originally called the Black Pirates for their black outfits, but fans started calling them Halateez because of HalaHala--the name stuck.
Since Say My Name and HalaHala were their first comeback, they're from a small company, and an idols visuals play a huge part in attracting fans, it was a crazy, risky idea to cover their faces in the MV. But it had the advantage of highlighting their dance skills. When they performed it live, they put their whole souls into acting the part rather than try to be pretty. Hongjoong, Seonghwa, and San looked like they were almost possessed and we're consequently named the "demon" line. One of San's fan cams went viral and helped solidify how their ability to perform was on another level. He has broken so many head mics during the final dance sequence.
The perfect example of a multitalented group! They have a story, the vocals, rap, dance, performance skills! Really happy they were recommended 🥰
Say My Name is the prequel to treasure and pirate king, that’s why you hear treasure at the end of the say my name music video. The lore starts from the very beginning.

23:00 they do this in their concerts and they have a mix of them on the stage and a recording of the pirates doing this dance glitch back and forth. I've seen recordings and it's really cool. Worth looking up.

girrlllll i just know mingi (the deep voiced rapper) will be your bias 😭 the mvs that say performance version are the official mvs, they used to do this in the beginning to show how good they were at performance, specially with hala hala, also the guys with the black hats are called HALATEEZ, basically there are 2 universes, A and Z, universe A has normal ATEEZ and universe Z has halateez (in universe Z people's emotions are controlled by a government, and halateez try to save them with the help of ateez) but honestly u don't really need to know their storyline just yet, just enjoy their music 😭 ateez have b sides that are even better than the tts (not their first album tho) you'll fall even more in love with them, im sure 😭 they are such kind humans too, so soon you'll become an atiny too 💗 loved your reaction, we need moree!! and u're so gorg omg!
