Every dunk contest should start with the first dunk as a 5 (unless if you think it’s absolutely amazing, then start with a 7). The problem is judges are working with a 7-10 scale realistically. They don’t even use 0-6. So you end up making dumb decisions and are unable to score more precisely.
Yeah dunk scores should be rated like this: 0 no dunk 1 basic 1 or two handed 2 basic 1 or two handed with flair 3 basic tomahawk clutch dunks 4 tomahawk or clutch dunks with flair 5 windmill/360 with flair 6 eastbay 7 360 windmill 8 freethowline dunk /540 9 360 eastbay / 720 10 something you have never seen before

They just need to use the whole scale and not leave themselves having to use only 4 numbers. Start with the first dunk around a 5 or 6 regardless of what it is, so you establish a baseline that you can go down or up from.
I don’t know the dunker’s name, but whoever did the arm in the rim over someone got robbed! That dunk alone was probably the most amazing dunk of the contest. Then again, he didn’t have the consistency of great dunks which included mistakes. Nonetheless, great performance by all dunkers.
