The Book 1 is a badly executed good idea. Weird, puffy shape that looks like fake AF1s instead of a sleeker, modernized version. Plus they're too exclusive. Pump up that inventory by a loooootttt and they'll move.
Looks matter. The Book 1's might be better than $115 AF1's but they look similar and cost more. And the colorways they've released (maybe except the black one) have sucked. I do see the vision, but a debut shoe should wow you and these don't.
The Book 1 reminds me of a knockoff AF1, also why has Nike dragged out doing big releases of it and made it so exclusive? Also, like you’ve touched on in the past, there is an over reliance on passed colorways, instead of telling stories based around D-Book 🤷🏾♂️
d-book's colorways aren't bad we just can't get our hands on em. nike rolls out retros that nobody wants and treating this shoe like is gon flop unbelievably. i just want to try them on to see if there even worth going for, i want a pair but not if they dont feel good.
Book 1 one of the best basketball shoes out right now. They messed up a few ways: 1) they introduced the shoe 6 months prior to release 2) the first colorway was not available for the general public. Big problem for someone’s first signature shoe. 3) price - it’s a $$120 shoe. Not $140 shoe. Zoom air in heel and cushlon 2.0. Esp since Nike discounts Lebron XXI right off the bat and it’s a superior shoe tech wise. 4) pick one - either lifestyle or performance. You’ll always get hate from both sides. People don’t hate on the GT Jump 2.0 because it’s a bball shoe. Keep it one or the other.
Agree with everything aside from picking lifestyle vs performance unless you mean prioritizing one over the other which in this day and age you can really do both but lean into one most of all. Shoe looks decent if not good and performs nicely (from what I've heard).
The Books are just flat out ugly. Of course you can’t find a shoe that’s intentionally limited. They went way too casual and they remind me of Roche runs mixed with Air Force 1’s! Nike has been awful lately. I really like what adidas is doing with their basketball line. Nike has fallen off, hard!
