- Really easy charcoal making from start to finish. I'm keen to get my hands on large amounts of charcoal so my own kiln is a sensible start! Follow the build beginning with a disused oil drum and watch it produce some charcoal!
I will be producing more videos of the uses of this charcoal so like, share, subscribe and stay tuned!
i love the lighting method, no messing about
That worked well nice one 😀
Keep meaning to make mk2
Thanks for sharing !!!
Have you thought about adding an exhaust recirculation tube to turn it into a Charcoal Retort? You'd have to close off the bottom entirely and use an external fire at the bottom, but the Woodgas coming off the top can be burned by routing it down to the fire at the bottom, giving you higher temps and reduced fuel consumption. Furthermore, if you use a small enough external fire that it burns out around the time the Woodgas starts pumping out, then the Woodgas becomes the main fuel source, which means the fire will automatically die out when the Wood inside is fully charred.
I like this idea a lot however i think it would require a chimney through the centre of the barrel in order to cook the wood at the top of the kiln and some robust plumbing for the gas. I'm not sure i can justify a complex build for charcoal production however running a small honda genset on wood gas is something i will do in the future.
in the end,on a small scale, this seems to be good enough
I realize it is kinda randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to watch new series online ?
@Anson Diego Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Jayceon Dean Yea, have been using flixzone for years myself :)
@Jayceon Dean thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !!
@Anson Diego no problem xD
Have you ever been in Rhodesia?
Had my first attempt yesterday and thought I had followed your video correctly. All very exciting! However, I ended up with a oil drum full of ashes!!! I had piled up the soil at the bottom and had lid on etc. Any advice?
Im sorry to hear that, air must have been getting in.
You could try wetting the soil and packing it down a bit, and maybe not letting it burn so long before you pack the soil.
@@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 Will try that - many thanks :)
You should have cut a piece in half to demonstrate that it's charred to the core.
Verdigris Sirgidrev I beleve he did. He broke a peice right on the top.
should wear ear plugs withall that noise...
I'm trying, with lots of reminders from you lot I am getting better cheers.
No way that’s 3 brick I need more proof
What cutting tool is that?
Some type air powered saw idk the name
@MauS Gaming woooot i was right besides the name lol
Pneumatic nibler, it's good at going round corners but leaves a pretty nasty edge. Soz for the late reply!
😳
That is burnt wood, not charcoal.
Burned wood that isn't burned enough to turn into ash, it's got a name 🤔 char something... Charcoal!
@@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 perhaps a very poor quality charcoal would have been a better choice of words...
@@casualobserver2380 definitely poor quality, I started with pallets!
Unless you use a kiln then you need to completely combust some of the wood to bring the temp up to cook the volatiles off the unburned wood.
