As impressive as Troy was in this match, Long was equally impressive in fighting off his back with his knee cranked like that for so long.
Today that would have been a pin way faster.
If you really care about wrestling you would be at Penn State, Oklahoma or Iowa. Since 1960 Cornell has had a half dozen champions. It is FAR from a wrestling school. No legacy and no real alumni to mentor the current studs.Cornell also had guys win NCAA chamionships as underclassman just to lose their senior year. I believe that happened to both Bosak and Nickerson.

Why do the Penn State wrestlers look so much bigger and stronger than their opponents? Gab just looks.....Small. Ruth rode him like a school girl. When Bo Nickal beat him in the finals Gabe just got overpowered.
Jonathan Bachman probably cuz their team is so damn stacked always that everyone’s cutting a shit load to load the line up or in some cases make the line up. Say Ruth and Phil Davis were on the same team and Ruth could easily wrestl 197 and have huge success but Davis edges him always in practice and their boys so he might cut to 84 to win nationals haha
@@tmt1675 Yeah...but that's not true at all. In fact, PSU guys cut LESS weight than just about any other B1G program. Ruth is NOT a big 84 and not as big as Dean. Ruth could have cut to 74 here but didn't want or need to with Brown. Especially during this era...Taylor, Ruth, Wright....Cassar...they had Mego cutting a lot and Zain a little, but most guys were up a weight. That's actually how Cael prefers it. Now sometimes with guys like Bartlett who'll be at 41 next year, they leave it up to the Wrestler. But even guys who look huge, Starocci, Brooks, Beard...none of them are sucking much weight. They don't want guys more worried about cutting than Wrestling(within reason...obviously Wrestling requires cutting, but I'll bet Dean walks around higher than either Ruth or Bo...definitely Ruth though.
