Great audiobook. Eventhough the characters start as total idiots, like the question on the video on the word bottleneck: "My what?" JIT was introduced to me in the basic economics lesson at the technical university. Would the plant managers not read the latest scietifical articles or use consultants that do on the 70's? I hope the book would take the concept much futher. And why such a lost plant manager doesn't seek the counsel of another consultant if the one that he happens to meet at the airport is too busy to help. Nice story, but could be more realistic.

The irony of this video is that of the two having the discussion, the one promoting change was the only one who conceded and agreed to consider change at the end (adjusting his approach to how to present the idea of change to others). While the other, who tried to rationalize he did not object to change, never truly conceded on any of the points, thus proving the claims of the other.

I'm currently reading the book. It seems that Al and all of the managers/heads don't really know what they're producing and why. It reminds me of the movie Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield where he schools the business professor on how business works in the real world. Rodney's character asks the professor what product the fictional plant is manufacturing and the professor says tape recorders. Rodney's character says, "Tape recorders? The Japs will kill us!" Any organization has to start with the fundamental question of what good or service it's providing then ask why it's providing that good or service. Al's company doesn't seem to know why it's in business in the first place.

It's broken down and simplified giving the viewer gather basic understanding of TOC, it's a vast subject with countless other elements and would take time to master, thanks for sharing.

Do you think after the industrial revolution, most capitalist markets have devolved into excess and over production for the sake of profit? This theory of constraint seems to be lost in these saturated times we live in..

They have to walk 5 miles. After 2 miles and 100 yards they decide to have Herbie in front. Then they walk some before they take lighten his backpack. And they the last 4 miles went quicker.. I believe that the problem is that Mr. Rogo is bad at math 🤣 Also if three machine produce 10 items per hour on a conveyor belt, the last machine will be idle for 12 minutes before the first produced item of the first machine reaches it. This concept has an issue with basic math.

Video gives interesting ideas that sound good on paper. However, there is one thing the video fails to recognize. Even if a change is said to be thoroughly beneficial with few obstacles, if the person hurts the other person's ego (ex. doesn't hear the other person's side emphatically), they will resist change. The same principle applies when people argue on the internet, and it seems no one really gives in to the other person. Understand that people are not always logical but are fundamentally emotional creatures.
