I have not played Aqua, but I like all of the other games, including Harmonies. Have you played Reef and Neotopia? They also have mechanics that are similar to Harmonies, completing patterns that are on cards.

Radlands Expansion -- yes please, thanks for the info. Need it ASAP. Still sooo many new polyomino tile-laying game. I have yet to get my Plane Unknown special edition. I think I already have too many. Skyrise looks good though - but also expensive!

Harmonies is definitely on my very short list to get asap. I never pulled the trigger on Callico, because of its restrictiveness. Here in Downunder I have not received my Cascadia expansion Landmarks (paid for it over half a year ago.) And I don't think Harmonies is widely available here either yet. Thanks for the video.

Nice short video Carly. I thought the 3-player modus brought some nice and different touch to the game. Granted, the "Cartographer" plays quite different than the other two players. Therefore, I thought that the balance might be out and would have to be taken by a player more familiar with the game. Unfortunately, I have only been able to play this with my wife in a two-player-mode (which I agree is the main/preferred one). BUT you made me intrigued to now try it with three! My problem is that I hardly ever have a play-team of three.

Looks like fun and reminds me of Cascadia in the way you match up topography. I love tile placing games. This one was interesting with being able to benefit the other player. The back and forth play with opponents would be fun. Thanks for the awesome video! I'd love to check this one out.

I love this game, although my wife has a knack for letting me allllllmoooossst close off my area before extending it out and out so I can never finish it. I agree with you, though- after hearing you talk about it, I'm itching to play it again!

Land VS Sea is am excellent game. You gotta play with Ships/Caravans and Mountains/Corals. I would never even consider it more than a 2P game.

I think my kids would have enjoyed this game when they were younger. I'll keep this in mind in case they start having kids of their own soon.

This seems really similar to the old Goosebumps game from the 90's or 00's. But the tile elements and dice significantly improve the mechanisms from that game. What a fun share!

The game looks really fun. I love the flipping tile aspect of it and the fact that the box is an element for the game itself. Very clever.

This is a great game to teach more complicated mechanics to people who haven’t played more complicated board games. My fiancé has never played board games beside the traditional games like monopoly and life. It’s great to teach mechanics like production and turn phases.

I really like the theme and art direction of this game. And...that Rehearsal booklet is genius. I was figuring this might be too complex for me, but now that I saw that it's got me rethinking... 🤔 Reminds me of the starter pack in Wingspan that I have used on more than one occasion to teach that game to non-gamers. I wish more publishers would create these kinds of guides to their games. Very thorough and beautifully shot video! (Now off to check out the campaign!)

At 5:08 I'm noticing that Beckham is desperately trying to tell you something about Gnome Hollow. 😂What a cute little guy! Given that I love both The Red Cathedral and The White Castle, I find that I'm becoming more and more interested in Rock Hard 1977. (Plus '77 is the year Best of My Love by the Emotions came out....great song!) I was just the 500th person to click the thumbs up for that game on the BGG Gen Con Preview list. It's the #1 most anticipated game on the list! Two games I'm curious about are Pixies (Bombyx card game currently on BGA) and Pirates of Maracaibo. Great video, as always!

Good preview! The artwork and theme is what primarily caught my attention. As a solo gamer I was wary when I heard the main mechanism was blind bidding. But David Digby has done a phenomenal job creating a solo mode that incorporates this mechanism, flows well, and simulates an actual opponent. After sampling a couple rounds on TTS, I decided to back. Have you played Darwin's Journey? I think you would enjoy the worker placement in that game as your workers become more powerful as the game goes on and you actually have the ability to craft their abilities and which worker placement spots they will be able to go to. It's really unique.

If you enjoy games about decorating your home, I recommend checking out Bamboo. I haven't played it yet, but part of the game is placing tiles in your home and balancing out how amount or types of tiles on each side of the home.

I'm not giving up on it though cause I can see it's potential. There is just something about Cascadia that I absolutely love and will always be at the top for me! 1- Cascadia, 2- Calico, 3- Akropolis, 4- Harmonies & Aqua. I've only played Harmonies and Aqua once, so as of now they are both tied for 4th until I can give them both a fair shot of being played. Hope my list doesn't make you "slow melt" off the couch too! 😂

Great list, Carly!! 😀 I actually played Rock Hard: 1977 at a small local convention this last weekend. It was so much fun and very thematic....and I won! 😋 I absolutely must own Comic Hunters!! I've wanted it since hearing about it, and I'm so stoked that it is getting released here in the US!! I'm also really intrigued by Pampero ever since seeing it on display at BGG Con last year. So many great games!!

Aquatica is one that doesn't get played much much, but I will have to get the new expansion. The art is very colorful.

I just picked up the base game last week and played my first game of it yesterday. Now I need TWO expansions? I feel like I should apologize to my wallet. I was wondering about those purple mantas, thinking I might have gotten a bad copy because they were so difficult to read. Was thinking of contacting the publisher to see about getting replacements. Oh well, so much for that! 😂😂

Seeing you sitting behind a table again makes it easy to forget how damn tall you are. :D Own Radlands but am finding that I much prefer Mindbug to Radlands now that I own both.

I own all five games and I agree om the scoring on Aqua still after, I think, 13 sessions. I don't stack the small animals by the ecosystem tiles - only the one to tell the scoring - so I would probably prefer one of each small animal to come without a point marker or maybe a backside without. This is probably the biggest hurdle - get the points by the ecosystem, not what's on the tile.While I obviously like all the games, Akropolis and Cascadia will come out as my two favorites. I like the format of comparing similar games so good idea there!
