Our Canadian dollar is adding about 35% ezchange to anything so its prixeing me out of some watches. I have two Cadisons which were fine 1032 dress watch and a seiko homage

The question I have is who asked them to make this watch for $65. They cut so many corners and for no good reason. The price of the helm is irrelevant because it is a 3-4 year waiting list. So even it they charge $125 it would still be desirable over waiting 4 years. With the extra margin they could have given us a watch with a better bezel, better clasp, and screw links. There is this weird race to the bottom with Cadisen that drives them to make Hal-assed attempts at watches. SMH

I’m not going to get into the Homage discussion, but it is a hell of a watch for the money. Although I wouldn’t take a Cadisen in the water. I’m not sure I would say the word “water” around it… thanks for showing it to us.

A couple of years ago I managed to get the white dial Helm, and I sold it. During the the long wait I had sort of moved on. But I will say these Cadisens are much thinner than the real Helm Komodo.

Helm watches are worth the wait just add your name and forget about it then you get an email your watch is ready, It feels so much better than jumping though hoops when buying a Rolex.

Homage? Nah, it's a straight copy....I wouldn't touch it, but I'm lucky to own the Komodo!

Got one a while back. Been wearing it for several months. I can summarise my experience by saying; It's a great deal, but not a great watch. If you can pick one up on an Ali sale for $50-60 bucks, go for it, you won't be disappointed. But at the end of the day, it's just that, a $50-60 dollar watch.

This watch has made me question the fact that I’m ok with homage watches. My first homage was of a Seiko, and I didn’t feel bad at all because Seiko didn’t make it anymore. My other homages take inspiration from watches that are crazy expensive, or just major manufacturers. So I’ve never had a problem with homages. Enter Cadisen delivering a Helm homage. I feel weird about it. Because it’s a microbrand maybe? Big company or small company shouldn’t have any bearing…………but it does, I guess.

If I could buy the Helm it might be worth saving up for but I can't. I'll console myself by gazing at my Scurfa. Cheers!

I waited just over 2 years for a white dial Komodo which arrived last November. Agree with all the points you made but whenever I have commented on reviews of this watch you always have people defending it, mostly because of the wait list. If you want a quick fix then fine but it's really no substitute for the genuine article.

I got this watch during last AEX sale. Been on the Komodo wait list for long now, and this homage reaffirms my future purchase of the Komodo. But Helm wait list is just endless and that's why this watch has been almost always sold out in white color since release: Many people are fed up waiting for the real thing. So Helm, FFS, hire a couple people and speed this shit up, or be eaten by AliExpress

£50 is less than a night at the cinema. You could buy this for your holiday, it'll look good in the pool, and if it lasts longer it's a bonus.

I totally agree that hardlex at this price range is an outrageous decision. Seiko sure makes some weird decisions these days. It makes all these limited editions at ridiculous prices solely for boosting sales. Yes, FOMO is a thing. I salute you for giving your unpopular opinion but you made some excellent points

How does it compare to cw watches?

I bought it in blue and titanium. This is the watch Tudor is always gonna be too scared to make, but it’s the one all the watch enthusiast one it’s the real tool the real tutor submariner snowflake. Tudor instead tried to appease the mass markets with a luxury version of what should’ve always been a pure tool watch. Also Tudor will never be successful because they can’t step on Rolex‘s toes or make a Watch that would outsell the submariner in anyway so they will forever be limited by the successive Rolex and Rolex in the name of progress only destroys their soul more and more every year. San Martin gave us everything we wanted from tudor with this watch

I have the older version of this watch, it's the Ray Mears YellowStone version which was made in the early 2000s. Eventhough it's small and old, I still wear it to anywhere I go, tough watch with tough love.

I purchased the 400 caliber 41.5 diameter on the grey market, I was not sure how it would compete for wrist time with my Omega SMP 300 Chronograph but the Oris is just so much more comfortable on the wrist that I could wear it daily where the Omega is a little overbearing due to its weight, I much prefer the Oris even when I paid more for the Omega. Another thing is Oris really knows how to make colorful dials I got the blue gradient dial but it was a tough decision because the green dial is absolutely a beauty

Great timely review, was actually looking at this exact one all weekend. Unfortunately those mismatched hands/dial indices kinda kill it for me. Awesome info on the so/so lume, from their product pics it really looked like it glowed like a torch.

Why not make a proper 42 mm EX II, with a proper movement… Is the bezel slightly misaligned? The expression you were looking for is "kann man nicht meckern", which means it’s good but not as good as it can be. "Das ist gut" can mean anything really…

I’ve had the original orange monster for over a decade and not a single scratch on the crystal. Still one of my favourite watches in my collection. I didn’t pay anything like £500 for it though, probably half that.
