Howdy,
The name is Dave, the channel is TXW5CSM.
This channel is currently a mish-mash of many of my interests. However, it began as a way for the Andress High School Marching Band in El Paso, TX to "see themselves" and improve their performances. I will keep the historic Marching Band videos up as many have shared links.
Newer videos in the areas of guns, ammunition reloading, and amateur radio. I have expanded into sharing just about anything that I don't know that I think others could learn from. Basically, if I search CZcams and can't find a good video, I try to make one.
Thanks for any subscriptions and shares. If you learned something or have an idea of something that I can help with, please let me know. If I can't do the subject justice, I will.
If you learn something, make a video, share it here, and make the world BETTER!
Thanks for visiting,
Dave in Central Texas

Thank you!
Glad to help. I know they are all still quite rough. Someday I may have time to edit them all together.
Thank you so much sir! I had to shorten the power cable due to the individual wires sticking out of the cord, and after doing that, I was like "Where the hell did this blue wire come from?!'
Sorry, what is the no namer?
No name was the toilet bowl cleaner. It was certainly the most effective cleaner. I use the name of each based upon the shot glass that I used for each cleanser type. Remember when using toilet bowl cleaner that it is quite acidic and will require a good deal of rinsing afterward
You Sir are a Godsend!! Many thanks for the video!

That's an interesting call sign that you have there. 73 de N7MZW Chuck in Cheyenne.
My issued Call sign was KE5EUN and that had to go. Since I was selected for promotion to CSM and the call sign was available... the rest is history.
2024; FA media, $25 for 15 lbs on A'zon Lizard bedding at P,co $20 for 10Qt (14lbs) Walnut blasting media at HD, $25 for 25 lbs I think the biggest difference would be that the lizard stuff would be cleaner, less dust due to intended application. I would be interested to see if anyone ever did any kind of performance comparison between the options.
I found little to no difference with either option. In my opinion they are the same minus the cost. I neither considered nor paid attention to the dust factor.
Walnut blasting is 14 for 80 pounds
Very nice video. My remaining question is, do you have to double-click the responding station every time someone answers your CQ? In other words is there a way to have WSJT run semi-autonomously, so that once you hit Enable Transmit it will answer all responses without clicking on the call?
Once you double click the contact, the responses cycle through to the 73 message. I honestly can't recall if that is a setting or if it does this by default. It does not reply to anyone calling you. You must double click to initiate the exchange. I hope this helps.
@@W5CSM-Dave OK. Maybe it has to do with FCC rules about station control. 73
Awesome tutorial. Thank you
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. My Dremel has been slowly losing power. I had just changed out the brushes but it sounded like they needed replaced again. When I opened up one side to look, the brush had been dragged into the motor and obliterated and the blue wire was out of place. I'm not sure if that's why the brush got sucked in, but if you hadn't posted this video, I would've never figured out where it went. I even looked on ereplacement parts for a tutorial and there wasn't anything explaining the wiring. You rock, thank you!
Thank you man! You are the best! fixed my DREMEL 4000
How to remove speed controller's potentiometer blue knob without over streching, damaging the variable part inside? When this potentiometer variable controller becomes sticky, it can be cleaned, oiled for much longer life. The knob is hard to remove, pull out. No centre screw visible ,like other variable pot's knobs.
Hello, it has been a while but as I recall, you need to rotate the disk on the axis as if it were tethered in the center. This allows you to settle it back into place. I would recommend a tuner cleaner on any potentiometer and not a lubricant. I hope this helps!
Does anybody have complete clear circuit diagram of the Dremel4000 speed contrller, also require clear Explanation how it works.
Thank you, Dave! This is helpful. I have yet to compare my settings against yours, but they should be good to go. My waterfall tends to look different from yours. I'll practice calling CQ, and I'd like to check out some of the other programs you mentioned as well. Hope to hear you on the air soon. Take care!
James has my email, please have him share it with you and I will send you a screenshot of my waterfall settings. Start with Under the Palette, there is a pulldown, go to Linrad. I've found this far easier to see. Good DX and 73, de W5CSM.
I bought walnut media blasting compound from Home Depot way cheaper than buying tumbling media.

This was super helpful with the wiring in reassembly!

My UK Dremel 4000 doesn't seem to have a way to remove the motor brush covers. There is no screw slot like there is in the video. Anyone know how to remove them?
I had one of these apart after cleaning - and ended up not putting it back together for circa 1 year. This video was rather useful. Thanks & 73's de M0WUL.
very helpful thanks
I work on boats and my Dremel gets clogged up every season with fiberglass dust. (Yes, I wear a respirator.) This video is the reason I am able to take it apart, clean it, and get it back together every year.
Thank you I thought I had truly killed the dam thing after buying new brushes and placing them. Ended and still not working now that you mentioned them wires I'm going to strip the thing and hopefully sort it. Many thanks for sharing I now have a chance of less grey hairs lol
I have grey hair, so you don't have to. :^D Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for the video. I was certainly at a loss as to where that dang blue wire went.
Excellent video
Excellent video. Thank you so much for showing us where that elusive little blue wire goes. Now, I have more questions, like, how did it break free of its home in the first place? Crazy. It's so pinned in there you can't imagine it coming out of there. Thank you, again. Great video.
Hello, As it was over 9 years ago, I must assume that this issue was eventually noticed by Dremel and that the seating of the wire into the recess was made a bit more positive. That is my best guess. Mine did not require ANY force to remove it or I would have noted the location and taken a photo prior to disassembly. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!
So texas s.b. 11 applies to all texas classrooms including publuc and private schools as well .
This was back in 2015 and as I recall it was only College.
Thank you. I was puzzeled where the blue wire went <3
You need to use the sander drum on your nails.
it helped me a lot, thank you sir
Great info. I thank youfor making & sharing this with us, much appreciated.
Muy dum b LG TV also
Is that winding wire aluminum ? Looks pale
I personally have no idea. Possibly someone can chime in to assist
Thanks so much. I hit my glove with the dremel and it got wrapped up. It wouldn’t turn on after that. I took it apart and was able to tell the switch didn’t look right because of your clear video. Works like a charm now woohoo!
Awesome! Thank You! I thought it went there.. After I failed soldering it to the black wire. Hope I didn't F things up. We'll see.. Thanks for solving the blue wire mystery...
I disagree, knowledge can also be power when it’s kept to yourself. Suppose there are a lot of people who don’t know how to repair their dremel or something else and you do know. You have the power to charge them for fixing their dremel or whatever. Your knowledge becomes power of your financial opportunity
leave bloody music out
Leave them silent? I listen to the radio and get copyright hits. Maybe this is a good time for a poll. Silent, or music?
Now I see why you only got 40 views, this is total crap.
40 views in less than 24 hours, that's a lot better than many of the dash cam videos :^D
Then why are you watching?
Thanks so much for the explanation
That's not a resistor, that's the thermal fuse.
THANK YOU for the wire close-up. I screwed mine up on reassembly and this was very, very useful.
Thank you for the video! You´ve just saved me 105 euros for new machine.
Excellent video. You answered my "Blue Wire" question as well as the routing of the wires. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
I jut got my ICOM 7000 I would like to have one like that very nice job 👍
Thanks V P! There are several other videos on this radio setup. Please visit the links at the bottom of the QRZ page or the CZcams channel for more progress with this project. ENJOY the IC-7000 it is still one of my favorite radios for all around use. 73!
Saved me from buying a new Dremel. I laughed for 5 minutes at the title of the video. I dropped mine when it was fairly new years ago. I put up with the vibration ever since. I just received a new armature and brushes today. Couldn't figure out the blue wire. With your help, I got it all back together. Runs like it was new (before being dropped.) I very much appreciated the resolution and clarity of the video. Being able to see the tiny parts is awesome. THANK YOU!
great video thanks 73 from kb2uew
Thanks for the great review! Do you still recommend this lower?? Just had a 10.5 build with a BCA Upper. Haven't shot it yet. Just wanted your updated opinion.
I had absolutely no issues with the Tegra lower when I owned it. I built this as a project and have sold it. I honestly wish I still had it to sell now. I guess that's a tribute... when you want it back.
@@W5CSM-Dave WOW! Thanks again Sir!
This is a handguard suitable for barrels 14.5 inches. Nice gun decoration. I'll take that into consideration
Mine is a 16 inch barrel. 14.5 inches would work fine as it is only 1.5 inches shorter. It depends on the legal length of barrels in your area. Please look into the laws. If it is a fit question, I think it will fit with no issues.
Thanks so much Dave, you saved me just 47 euros. My 4000 faltered when I was cutting dry wall on the ceiling. I thought it was due the dry plaster dust that moving parts were clogged. I opened it withou any DIY video's and I cleaned everything. But I couldn't get the two big brackets tight to each other again. The drewel after cleaning still had the same symptoms. The brushes by the way were looking good. I decided to check Amazon and other DIY stores and found one 3000 for 47 euros. Then I checked youtube just as a last resort and found your video. After that, I rearranged the red wire which was blocking and clamping the big blue on/off piece. I could now easily close it again. At first the drewel was still a bit coughing. I left it running at 30000 for a minute and now it is functioning smoothly through all rpm's. When I tilt the drewel when running at higher rpm it starts hampering a little bit, but I claim that to be the gyroprecession effects.
