Recipes & Recovery (Episode 4) Broccoli Casserole
Broccoli Casserole
Pre Heat Oven to 375degrees
4.5 cups frozen broccoli florets thawed and drained
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 large eggs beaten
¾ cup mayo(do not use light)
2 cups shredded sharp cheese
1tsp salt
1tsp pepper (more or less to taste)
Thaw broccoli in micro wave , do not cook. Drain on paper towels or in strainer to remove water
Beat eggs, mix with mayo and cream of mushroom soup, add salt, pepper and 1.5 cups of shredded cheese. Fold in broccoli and pour into 8x12 casserole dish topping with remaining ½ cup of cheese.
Put in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown, knife inserted comes out clean. #recipes #baking #recovered #recovery #recipeshare #casserolerecipe

We're really struggling right now with a young family member who is in the midst of addiction.. we are located in the Pacific Northwest and are considering connecting with an interventionist.. is there anyone in the Oregon/Washington area who we could reach out to? Your videos have been instrumental in our efforts of setting boundaries.. his grandmother is adamant that we do this right because, unfortunately, she lost her brother and daughter to addiction and doesn't want to see our young family member continue down the same path.. any information would be much appreciated.. ty so much for your pearls of wisdom and fighting attitude.. with your words and passion for sobriety, maybe we can make a difference in this young man's life.

I stopped enabling my Son just over 3 weeks ago. It was hard but I had to set boundaries for his sake as well as my own. I haven't had contact with him, and until he seeks professional help my decision will remain as such. Sending love to anyone who is in this situation ❤️

We lost our 33 year old son last May 2023 ...
No that wasn’t intervention that was his relative letting out what he’s been holding in for so long. I used to be an alcoholic and I know my wrongs my brother had the same reaction cause he was sick of me and he ended up in the hospital. Please seek god and realize everyone around you is hurting me and my brother are close and till this day I still cry about what I did to him.
Then if its about self you don't need my vote when you could lead on your own vote or not its about self let every body hold back their vote then we would see who you working for😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think and this is just my opinion that a lot of times families don’t want to confront the person who is addicted and caused confrontation for fear. It would make them go deeper in their addiction or become hostile and it’s almost like they don’t want to confront them because if something bad happened on their watch, it would be their faultin their own mind
That is a fear of a large number of families, for sure. The reality is bad is happening on their watch.

I’ve heard well they haven’t hit bottom yet and until they do nothing’s gonna change what’s your opinion on that my thinking is so what is rock-bottom killing someone or killing yourself? I don’t understand that logic.
While certainly an individual has to experience consequences in order to be willing to change, the old “ oh well, they gotta hit bottom” phrase speaks from shallowness of thought. I’m all about boundaries… strong boundaries with clear, compassionate communication while offering an appropriate level of care to get the help they need. Done that way, addicted ones surprisingly come around pretty quick with the willingness to attempt change.

"eh! cut that shit out!" would be fine even nowadays, but at least give them a reason. They bound to fail and mess up, but even if they ignore your warning and don't "cut that shit out" - the reason will likely stick with them, and might be difference between them struggling for a week, a month or even longer, compared to a year or a decade if they have to figure out the reasons from scratch. Simply being told not to do something is not 'imparting wisdom'. You need to discuss things, give reasons and examples for young-ings to learn. Even if it might not seem like they are taking it in (and it is frustrating), believe that it will.
Raising children is fairly easy, teach them while they're young to respect you and that lesson will last their entire lives. Show them that you're someone who doesn't deserve respect and they'll give you hell for life. How'd you do?

I hear ya, but miss it, NOT on the best of days. I'm going to be 65 and I don't have the patience for that 💩 anymore.
So when the fck do you start to realize they’re people? Like… are guys like him for real? Where do you get off being such a prick? Were you born that way? Did you have someone else telling YOU to cut the sh!t?
Now, I don’t really want to admit this-any of it-but here goes. I was a horrible teenager. I was horrible all through my 20’s,30’s and most of my 40’s. But I DID eventually “get it” and I became a responsible, fully functioning adult. Hopefully it doesn’t take most of you that long to get there. Hahahaha!! I DID have some extenuating circumstances that contributed to me taking so long to get my crap together, but I guess what I’m getting at is, just hang in there. If you stay a strong support system for them but allow them to face the consequences of their bad decisions, most eventually come around.
I've had a very new realization that one of my siblings needs an intervention badly. I have no idea how to even begin to navigate it.
There’s no way to know to what degree of intervention you need at this time.
