Well, I learned one thing from this video. Not everyone is good at comedy, and thats okay. As long as you keep trying, it dosent matter how just horribly, terribly, god-awfully unfunny you are.

It ain't funny

I’ve been doing one or two Open Mics a month, but only locally, since November. After writing for five years. The pandemic didn’t help. I know I need to get on stage a lot more. I am writing every day for at least 30 minutes to an hour or more. But I’m trying to learn everything I can to hone my craft. Appreciate all the tips.

i bought a book, how to write funny, it wasn't funny. I came to your channel and you summed up in 14 mins what that book could not in 4 hours thank you. i feel like i have a good understanding of how to write some jokes now. my favorite comedians are jeff ross, seth rogan, jonah hill, katt williams, and i forget the other one but i'm sure he is funny too. kinda sucks to have alztimerz at age 31 must be all those diet cokes i've been snorting.

I might be an alien but I don't find Steve Martin funny, at all.

It was because of Dane Cook I was interested in stand up comedy. Agree with his style. Chapelle is also a story teller but I find that he takes his time to reach the punchline

One question: what if the comedian before you is like really misogynistic or transphobic-- I usually will likely poke fun at them if they're like that to show the audience that comedians (and audiences) shouldn't find that behavior acceptable. What are your thoughts on that?

Dane Cook is very thin, just back from a few videos, I mean as an arm chair comedy expert who in real life was a marketer of "stuff" I would suggest Danes appearance and really cool brand name helped a lot. His audience is filled with shrill pantie waists (known as chicks) so no surprise there and he has that hairstyle going. I feel I would begin to have sexual notions about him if I was a male fan, I dunno his stories are cool, but they're definitely missing that one two punch, then uppercut you mentioned which I wholeheartedly agree with. But like you've already discussed in your other videos, theres more to success than talent and that is packaging. Dane Cook knows his target audience and women are good paying customers. His stories wouldnt work if for example I told them because Im 58 and bald so that, thrill and excitement he transmits, (like one of the cool kids at school) which is exactly how he makes fans feel, like they are an "in crowd" would never work with me, not to say I couldnt package my own act to target 20 something chicks but it would be ignoring other better, low hanging fruit, like a wise guy marketer car salesman premise who has been around the block. A sort of wise bastard who also knows the limitations of his appearance. Target market and likeability and not necesarily sex appeal like Cook...but likeability makes all laughs easier to get. His jokes I dont find funny at all because at my age I am never going to be in that crowd lol. Just some thoughts, I hope you dont hate contrary opinions. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
