Not a violation of the rules at all. NHL Rule 32.4: Reporting to the Referee: ... The Linesman must report upon completion of play, any circumstances pertaining to: (vi) Major penalties (vii) Match penalties (viii) Misconduct penalties (ix) Game Misconduct penalties (x) Abuse of Officials (xi) Physical Abuse of Officials (xii) Unsportsmanlike Conduct ... In short, neither Referee saw what happened, but the linesmen did. The linesman reported the major, which the referees then called and have the authority to review. Weird? Yes. Without reason? No. This is a situation called for and allowed by the rulebook.

It bothers me Bettman couldn't have attended the game to honor such a hockey legend. Lafleur has done more for the game of hockey than Bettman could ever do. Bettman hates Canadian hockey teams so much.

Bettman hates Canadian teams that bothers me too because that is where hockey started at. I am confused. in 2019 i went to a Blues game and sat next to two habs fan. They said it was cheaper for them to fly down and buy two tickets then to get to tickets at the Bell Center. Why is it so empty??
