Røde-killer? The Synco G2 Max wireless wants to compete.
The Synco G2 Max wireless microphone system looks a little like the Rode Wireless Go II system, and has a similar feature list...for a much cheaper price. But can it go up against what many would consider the industry standard in wireless mics? We gotta find out.

I always enjoy your videos, Matthew. It's a shame that in the 13-hours this video has been live, it only has 12 views (I guess I am the Lucky 13th Viewer though!!!) Sorry to hear you got Covid, and glad you are back on your feet. I wonder how the Xaxcom lawsuit against Rode is going (Zaxcom sued Rode back in October 2023 because Zacom has a patent on recording AND transmitting audio at the same time). Been 8 months or so and can't seem to find any updates. So there IS a chcane that here in the USA, Rode (and DJI, and Synco, and maybe some others) will have to provide a firmware update that disables transmitting WHILE recording. My gut says that has only a SMALL chance of happening, but my gut ALSO tells me never to rely on my gut... For anyone wondering, apparently that Zacom patent is only in the US of A, which is why mic systems like the Deity Theos and Deity PR-2 have separate US and Global versions/ Unfortunately, apparently if you guy the global version of those systems and try to use it in the US, the firmware will detect it's location and trun off transmitting, allowing only recording.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment! Yeah, COVID has been tough this time around. As for video performance, it's just so unpredictable. I've done a few wireless mic reviews lately, and some perform well and others fall flat. I had not heard about the lawsuit you mentioned. That could have pretty significant ramifications for a number of manufacturers! I can't find anything more recent than October of 2023 on it, but these things move slowly. I can't imagine how a wireless mic set could detect what country it's in, since they don't have GPS. I'll ave to remember not to do any firmware upgrades. :) Thanks for the info.
sE Usb2200a back in 2009 had the same features with volume and playback mix. Why are you so excited? For all we know the ancient Egyptians might have even had something similar
That mic has been discontinued. So the Neom remains exciting. Perhaps the ancient Egyptians discontinued their versions as well.
A really nice comparison video. I've had a stereo pair of the sE4400 mics for 5 years now and I have to say they are really great mics. I use them on everything and they deliver. I'm currently using one on an audio book narration and the sound is very natural. I've been interested in getting another pair and really got excited at these new Mocs because, well, the price, and the fact that I use the cardioid pattern 95% of the time. These new models are just what I'm looking for.
Yeah, sounds like a perfect addition to your current lineup. Thanks for your comment!
for anyone interested the proper screwdriver for the DJI props is a Phillips screwdriver # 0. I have a small 5" one and it works perfectly, you can use a lot of force and not have to worry about stripping the screw heads. Always remember to use the new screws every time you change the props because they will have loctite on them to secure the props while in flight, and always check to make sure that the prop screws are tight before every flight! 🚁 I always say that losing my drone in a tree isn't the worse thing to happen to me today, but it's still up their! 🤣
Thanks for the good tips, and sorry to hear about your "arboreal landing"!

versatile with only 6 aux buses and no expandability? not really. it does have cool UI and pretty good effects, but it's so limited especially for a band use. I simply cannot stand mono in-ears, which means I can only have 3 stereo mixes.
What do you think would be a better option?
Do you need some equipment to connect to computer, or does it have usb cord?
Yes, you need a USB interface with an XLR mic input and phantom power. It is not in itself a USB mic. Something as inexpensive as the Behringer U-Phoria UM2 ($60) which I reviewed awhile back will do the trick. Thanks for watching!
It works with the app?
I'm pretty sure that it does NOT work with an app. I don't see any reference to an app in the user guide.
Great video just wondering the cq preamp better thin qu ? thank you
Didn’t quite understand the last part of your sentence.
Oh wait, I get what you're asking. Compared to the QU line of mixers. I don't actually know as I've never used something from their QU line. Perhaps check with A&H.
How does your audio sounds so good? I'm directly recording on my iPhone with the cm28 and it's not as good. I'm new at this should I edit the audio on a software If yes which one?😢
Hi, Israel! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Let me ask a few questions: - Where are you placing the transmitter? How close is it to your mouth? - How are you attaching the receiver to your phone? - What are your levels set to? - Are you using noise reduction or not? Oh, and have you tried recording internally to the Tx and then listening back to that audio? Does it sound the same or different? And what is the nature of the 'bad'? Is it distorted or noisy or EQ sounds funny or...?
I literally buy duplicate items just to have a blue variant of it if it’s available

Excellent review! But as I was about to buy them, I discovered the boya boyamic, which would you buy?
Hmm, you’ve just reminded me that Boya said they would send me a Boyamic to review and never did! So I haven’t had a chance to try it. They generally make good stuff.
Disappointed. The second mic and all broken. Prob the quality is shi t.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the second mic and all broken". Have you bought two Tula mics?
It is crazy how much these people spend when they only get under 2k subs. Impressive. Ready to upgrade from this jlab. It soudns terrible when i move away but when im real close it souds good
Good luck with your upgrade! Mics do tend to sound better when you’re close though. Less background noise and room reflections, plus some bass boost with proximity effect.

Thanks! I appreciate you, and also you taking the time to comment.
Can you please give me a breakdown of getting this or getting the cm28 😮 or just get both 😅
Hey Louis. If you absolutely need/want the small form factor and and are willing to give up internal recording and a few other things, then go with the M2. Otherwise, go with the CM28. The CM28s aren't really large anyway, definitely smaller than the Rode Go II.
@@MatthewHaines thank you, sound wise is one better or are they both the same? It’s more of a convenience? Because it’s inconvenient to have the wind muff maybe I’ll have both and have the m2 for indoors and the cm28 for outdoor with a lav?
I personally prefer the sound of the CM28. Slightly fuller sound. But both are very usable.

How is this for run and gun film making ? Is it pretty powerful and is it battery powered not needing plugged into wall ?
Yes it's pretty powerful, especially if you're lighting head-and-shoulders interviews and stuff like that. Not too heavy, although with batteries attached, I wouldn't want to actually handhold it for very long. Seems to run for a decent amount of time on battery power. It's a good choice when you need something bigger/brighter than a portable panel light (like the Neewer NL288 I reviewed a few months ago).

Have it for 3 months and no issues and the earrcups are removable sound is very good no complaints as a tip due better background information about a product look at reviews about gaming stuff
That's weird, I just checked and the ear cups on mine are definitely not removable. Not sure I understand your tip though.
can you do more with this than rode podcaster 2
Those products are aimed at different markets. From a shear input standpoints, yes the A&H mixer does more. It also has some features that are aimed at live or studio recording that the Rode doesn't. However, the Rode has some podcast-specific features the A&H doesn't have. So it really depends on what your main usage is.
Enjoyed your review video. First time watcher. I recently bought the E 100SX, new for $79.00. I like it better than the old brass grilled E-100 I had. That one used (2) 9V batteries and had a medium diaphragm. This new one is a Large diaphragm. I paid $300 for that one. So...I paid less than 1/3 that price, and received a better sounding mic. Better built in shock mount and no batteries needed. Lower self noise too. I recall 16db self noise with older model. Thanks...subbed and liked!
9v batteries?! That's crazy. I had no idea that's how the earlier models operated. Sounds like you're pretty happy with your upgrade. :) Thanks for watching and subbing!
Problem is it has a higher self noise than the E100s it replaced. For the price it was selling recently, it was great. But it's also a disappointment that the original msrp of $299 came with more than double the noise floor of the original.
@skorpers compared to my previous E 100 Mic..it has almost half the noise ..so no issue there. Anything under 20db self noise is good.
Got it yesterday.. great value ❤
Nice! Enjoy them.
great video! pretty sure I'm about to pick up one of these.
Thanks! They're a lot of fun!
Hey i was just wondering, with this set, when recording on the camera will it automatically clip to the audio i record on the camera or do i need to download the file from the transmitter and then match it up? thanks!
Hey Archie. I'm not sure if I understand the question. Are you essentially asking how do you sync up a lone audio file from the transmitter with the original video? It's not automatic, no. However, most pro editing apps (Davinci, Final Cut, Premiere) have an audio sync function and it's very seamless. The wireless set itself doesn't do the syncing though. If that didn't answer your question, let me know!
@@MatthewHaines ahh okay so how do i go about downloading the audio in order to add it to the video? Is it a simple plug the device into a laptop and download it that way or is there a bluetooth method?
@@archie_reesracing7301 just plug it in! The Tx will appear as a drive, like it was a thumb drive. Copy it over and you’re good.
I want a different mix to come out for livestream than the house mix, and have the flexibility to change individual channels for that bus/matrix mix just for the livestream without affecting what is heard on the house mix. I am a little confused on this as we currently have an old analog mixer we want to replace, and not sure if I can do what we want to do on the CQ series (Separate mixes that can be set up for house and livestream). Can you set up a dedicated mix just for the livestream on this?
Hi and that's an important question! Now, I don't have the unit anymore as I had to return it, but I'm pretty sure it can do what you want. You have those six outputs, and you can set them so they're stereo pairs (1/2, 3/4 etc). You independently set the levels of what you're sending to these monitor outputs, and it doesn't affect the main mix. You can also pan independently as well, as far as I can tell from reading the manual. You can also monitor each output via headphones. So...yes. Probably. :) I would just verify with A&H in case I missed something, since I can't actually test it.
Great video! Quick question: On their website they say the HP out impedance is under 10Ohms, Id like to use my 32Ohm HP but if the impedance is more than 5Ohm thats out of the question?
I use a pair of 32 ohm headphones and they work just fine! Thanks for watching.
I saw a comment about people saying that their boom mic started not working and having some static noise, unfortunately that’s what happened to me, even though I used it for less than 6 months, might I add, Lightly, very very lightly, I barely game anymore and I’m careful with it because of how expensive it is, yet it still happened. I sent it through warranty last week and today I received my new pair, I’m probably going to sell them because now I know their prone to having their boom mic not working anymore and I don’t want to have to go through warranty again, so I’m going to keep it unopened, brand brand new and sell it like that for a cheaper price.
That makes sense! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great review! Thank you for sharing! Did you edit any of the field test audio? And when you’re quiet (without the noise cancellation on) is there a lot of white noise (sounds like the central air is on in your house) ?
Thanks! The only thing I’ve done to the audio is apply a little limiting at the end, to even out the gain. No EQ or anything like that. I don’t notice any significant noise, even in the quieter studio part of the video.
So, compere to my 15 year old AudioBox. It has just second monitor output, even without separate monitor output control. And you telling about direct mix as a feature? It's not a feature, it just must be. It have no even midi. I so like when other company make just generic audio interface, without the idea. For what? Just to oversaturate market?
Most interfaces in this price range don't have a continuously variable direct mix control. Yes, the Audiobox does have it. The Scarlett doesn't, the Universal Audio Volt1 doesn't. Yes, all interfaces need to have direct monitoring as well as playback monitoring. I agree, that's a "must be" as you put it. That and the switching between two monitor pairs are two features that set this apart from other interfaces in this price range.
Never take audio advice from someone who can’t even record their own voice properly for the advertisement. 🤦🏻♂️
Good advice. But what advertisement?
It's just a trend that everyone one is on where anyone reviewing a product is instantly a shill and that you're "forcing them" to buy something against their own free will. But of course needing to harp about this, plus spending the energy to be generally negative in their comments makes some people feel Superior for reasons @@MatthewHaines But man, this interface looks amazing
@@buckycore thanks for your support!
It has USB-B and Micro USB? Oh I see this is a 6 year old audio interface... and only 40db of mic gain, so most dynamic mics will be too quiet on it...
I used a dynamic mic on this review and had no level problems. I mentioned that in the review.
@@MatthewHaines Your mic looks like a Sontronics HALO... or is it a Corona? Anyhow, it kind of looks like you've had to talk really close to the mic to get useable signal from the mic with the Fluid Audio SRI-2... I would disagree that the preamp on this unit has "plenty of gain"... a -50db sensitivity dynamic mic you're using is one of the most sensitive dynamic mics available. Compare that to Shure SM58 at -54.5db, SM7B at -59db, RE20 at -56.5db... none of these would work to get useable signal with the SRI-2's preamp.
I don't think you need to speak so close to that mic. It sounds too boomy from the proximity effect. Also, what is compressing so much
I was using a new mic (which I have subsequently reviewed) and it turns out to be a little tricky to use. Thanks for the feedback.
Does the same company have one with more inputs ? What interface has more inputs for recording electronic and acoustic drums ? Plus vocals and other instruments with good sound quality and ease of use. At a fair price. Up to maybe a thousand dollars or less.
They don’t have a model with more inputs. But check out the review I did of the Allen and heath CQ12T! It might be what you’re looking for.
Thank you for explaining! I just got a wireless mic and it’s giving the background noise like when you were quiet at the 4 minute mark. I have my central air on… that’s it. It’ll be too hot if I cut it off.
I’m glad you were at least able to diagnose the problem! Thanks for watching.

Great Video but you should work on your mic quality. It really doesn't sounbd pleasing to the ear (way too much low end which results in a muddy sound) Also you should use a popfilter. All the plosives in this video were kinda annoying to be honest.

Which mic do you think would be better for narration and character young adult sounding voice work?
They really are so similar that you’d get similar results from either. I think the T1 has a slight edge on voice, but it’s tiny.
