I’m a rookie, I wasn’t thinking straight and that might be because I was out to spend my last Vietnamese dong money on one of these city tours on the Mekong River, but I didn’t plan to spend it on a bike ride. Anyway, the mission for me this morning was to change my last money to US dollar or Cambodian Riel but it was impossible to do so, I tried at least 5-6 different places for money exchange without any luck but here’s a tip for you, you can change your money in Cambodia at western union, not a problem at all…

Just to let you know what to expect for 20 euros a night in Ho Chi Minh City, I generally don’t book in advance when backpacking except for if I’m going to be staying there for longer periods.. This room was only for one night because I was in transit for Cambodia so I just walked around and checked a few hotels and I went for this hotel which I don’t remember the name of..

The Hanoi experience, I can’t explain it in another way. Found an old shop on the backstreets and two markets and the last market was a strange one, I can not understand what they do with these birds, if you know what they do with them please feel free to explain that to me..

If you go to Rome you do as the romans do, sure that’s the fun part of travelling but when it comes to my morning coffee I am really stubborn.. this took place in Hanoi Vietnam and it’s just a culture clash and I’m the baddy here because this is the way they drink coffee..

Be aware of the tourist traps, I was walking around this train street in Hanoi trying to get in to one of the cafes or one of the bars but they were sealing off the streets and I don’t know how to get in on the pretty street, but if you do as I did you’re gonna see the train for sure.

Another good one guys. I find the cafes you visit very interesting. They mostly look comfortable and homely with a unique style. I’ve had the impression that Swedish places were decorated in Scandi-chic style. Very clean lines, blond wood, very minimalist. Maybe I’m thinking of Denmark?
we have all kinds of cafes but i find the old ones much more interesting because i usually find a cool picture to be had.. ☺️
The Vespa GTS is the best Bike I have owned, I had big bikes in the 1990’s but I didn’t enjoy them like my GTS. It has all the power I need and is so versatile on a trip, economic too. Happy riding.

Very nice cafe, where is it? I have heated gloves when I ride in the cold that work much better than I thought they would, although I try to avoid ridding when its too cold. Cheers!

The Vespa really is a great bike. I’ve owned my 300 GTS since 2020 and it’s been a joy. I’m sad to say that my only local dealer has stopped being a Vespa guy. Now my nearest dealer is a ferry ride away in England. 😢

Yea. It’s a couple of days away if I need anything from a dealer, special work or something. If it comes up I’ll work it in with a longer scooter adventure. It’s always an issue when living on an island. The strange thing is that there is a strong scooter scene here but for whatever reason that does not result in a working dealership. You probably don’t have these concerns when travelling. I need an Øresund Bridge in my part of the world. 😊

I envy your freedom to roam in the countryside. Where I am people often encounter barbed wire and ‘Keep Out’ signs. There’s also little chance of coming across a nice hut to sit in. 😢

Looked like you and Billy had a good run out. Spring has sprung too in my neck of the woods, or ‘spring has dung’ as some say because of the 🐄 💩 in the air 😊. The air also had the unfamiliar smell of the two stroke engine as there was a scooter rally on the North Coast. As expected it ☔️ but good times were had. 👍

In Denmark, when passing the railroad tracks, the passing traffic was taken care of by a family living by the road, in a small house and lowering two booms when the trains were passing!
no eight hour job for the gatekeepers then and you had to be home all the time i presume.. those were the days.. ☺️
