Does the slide to frame have any wiggle?

For prodogy people. I bought my 4.25 inch in March 2024. Slide to frame fit has no play. Nice and tight. I did not shoot it though. I worked the slide 500x and kept cleaning cerakote out. I then replaced parts. I went with atlas perfect match ignition system, atlas full length tooless guiderod, atlas trigger, atlas shielded thumb safeties, atlas gas pedal, and egw mag well. I polished all the internals and did the work myself saving on a gunsmith. My prodogy shoots like a dream. Absolutely no function issues and is super accurate. My total cost into the gun is $2,100.00. That cost doesn't include light and optic as I reused ones I had on a different pistol.

Some dis the hex optic but don't say y . I have them on 6 of my handguns with zero issues with either the wasp or the dragonfly. Please tell y u think they r trash

Staccato makes nice pistols but they are way overpriced for what you get. If you want high end, go atlas or infinity, if you want to impress the internet, go staccato. If you want to the most comfortable feeling double stack 1911 on the market, go with the prodigy.

@Dragonfly Recon I agree that this is not a more affordable 2011. If they were as good as the Stacatto out of the factory, then I'd agree with that thought process.

The bul amorary is a better option for 1890.00 if they dont want the prodigy. I have a prodigy upgraded abd love it.

The dragonfly isn't bad for around 200 bux. I've not had any issues with the one that came with my prodigy or saint. Pretty much got them free with the gun. It's definitely not a delta point but 400+ plus optics are defymich better.

Thank you for sharing i wouldve just had the slide be cut for the particular optic i dont like plate designs at all but these firearms look awesome just my style and taste literally i have never owner a 1911/2011 style pistol but will be investing in a prodigy very soon and sending it out to Skips guns to be upgraded with the finest of fun to make it not only manageable but a work hourse as i will most likely have it as my concealed carry pistol i come from the sig sauer P320/365 platform and have done all my work and the firearms run flawlessly but since I’m not a gun smith and i dont know much about this platform i will be sending mine out to a professional to get the proper help

I just picked up the 5” version of the prodigy about a month ago. I have 300 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. My slide is good and solid and my safety has no play in it at all. My trigger does have a little bit of vertical play. The only thing I really want to change is the guide rod. I really don’t care for the factory two piece. Plus I want to ad a flared mag well. Other than that, I love the gun.

Great video. Picked up the 4.25 prodigy with zero issues at 900 rounds so far. . Mounted a SRO and love it although I do want to have the trigger pull lightened. That being said I think a lot of reliability issues ppl are having with the prodigy are due to the Cerakote. When I pulled mine out of the box I musta racked the side 1000 times and then cleaned over and over removing so much sticky, sludgy residue from the Cerakote.

Very nice guns. I feel like the reason guys have so many issues with there firearms because they get it and start doing a bunch if things to it making it not run properly. It seems us guys have to make changes to every gun we get but why? Do we just love guns or do we just enjoy putting a gun together?

I would've been nice to see the Prodigy in action, meaning test firing the pistol to see how the porting works, etc. Overall nice video~ IMO Staccato's are overrated 2011, they're just a dressed up STI re-named to Staccato. STI had no choice but to change their offerings due to the fact that their 2011's competition guns, sucked! Cracked comps, slides, you name it! Mass produced 2011 just like Kimber's. I opted for a Phoenix Trinity H-Tac since I already have a PT Honch for USPSA Open division. The thing that sucks about Springfield is that they cut corners by using MIM parts for their fire mechanism. By the time you add true parts, get the pistol tuned, etc you're almost paying for a Staccato.

We just gonna ignore that STI, ATLAS, etc all had MAJORA RELIABILITY ISSUES just like 10yrs ago? We just skipping over that?

I have staccato P with TAC 2 grip and C2 limited edition. I also bought a prodigy (then sold it because I am stupid). So I have experience. I can tell this for sure that the Prodigy feel way more better on hand, the grip is comfortable and grippy and for some reason (i dont know what) the prodigy feels (just the feeling) way more sophisticated (again just feelings) than staccatos.

I put a nighthawk in mine it pretty much went in except the safety you could file a bit otherwise you just have to use your off hand or have a powerful hitch hiking game to put it up. Disengages fine. I was between prying the safety off and trying to force both halves back together cause man I settled for filing a bit off each side and man I gotta fix that magazine disconnect hang up and change out a couple springs like the magazine release and mainspring cause man those are some seriously heavy springs just for stock. Factory gotta remember not everyone got that gunsmith finger strength lol.

It feels so slim and solid hands down the best fitted handgun I've ever had.

I enjoyed your video until the end. I think you're reaching by saying a Sig 229 is going to give a "similar dynamic" to a 2011, lol. The "dynamics" pushing people to 2011s is the 1911 trigger + add'l capacity. The Sig shouldn't be in the conversation. Rock Island Armory makes a double stack 1911 for $700-800 that has been flying under the radar. That would make for a more meaningful argument for people who don't have Staccato/Triarc/Atlas money.
