You were also a great solo guitarist. I was your date at the Cranford Hotel, when you did a solo, written by George Benson. You still seem to have that same gratitude towards life. Wonderful to hear. Blessings! Denise Elliott
Hi Dallas. So nice to see you on this podcast. I am happy to be privileged enough to be one of your older friends who did see your band. “Flight”. It was a cool band. It was my first introduction to, “Santana”. Thanks for the memories!
Will you be teaching in the Summer of 2024? If so, where? How do I join?
It's Alyona who "won't die"; it's 𝙝𝙚𝙧 Raskolnikov repeatedly tries to kill. Lizaveta dies; she dies quickly, easily and triggers guilt.
Great job Sloane! Very proud of you!!! xoxo
Michael Katz's translation of Crime and Punishment is first rate. The only competitor Katz has for Crime and Punishment is Oliver Ready's translation. I think if one prefers British English, then Ready is better. However, if one prefers American English, then Katz is better. In addition, Katz's Crime and Punishment is available in the Norton Critical Edition series, which (like most of the Norton series in general) contains tremendous supplementary material to help one better understand Crime and Punishment.

Thanks to Jake for such a terrific conversation! I hope we can continue several of these fascinating threads in another conversation. So much more to say about human sociability, the presence of the past, and the consequentiality of the humanities--of learning, of teaching, of recognizing that literature is about ideas, and ideas forge realities. Let's shape that future together!
Living legend!
So happy I found this video! Just bought this translation!

This is absolutely fascinating! to watch a master sharing his experiences regarding Dostoyevsky and Russian literature! OMG, I'm loving every second of it!
Loving this. Why only thirteen likes ?
I just ordered my copy of C&P and should receive it today. I can’t wait to dive in! Thank you both for this exceptional podcast episode. I would love to be on after finishing the book to discuss the new translation.
Yes please do I can’t wait for The Brothers K to come out.
I hope you'll interview him again when his translation of The Brothers Karamazov comes out. I've added Who Is to Blame? to my reading list!
Such a joy to listen to you Prof Zimmerman. "Nepal" brought me to this video. Thank you for your work in Nepal and continuing talk about the learnings to enrich and excite people like me around the world.

How r u?- bro! bravo~ttotal outstanding - =)
It’s evident why Francesca was voted president - she seems really kind, open, and is clearly well spoken. I think these are qualities that every Gilman guy and Bryn Mawr girl can and should strive for. On another note - can’t believe Apple’s app of the year, BeReal, was not discussed!! Perhaps on a future pod :) go hounds!
🎉
I agree…. Good to hear from a teacher perspective. Love the Pickleball discussion.

Loved this episode. Great stories from A.J.! I'll never forget woodworking with Mr. Howard in middle school... he played us Kung Fu Masters by All Mighty Senators. I've loved that song ever since. Keep up the great work, Jake.
Great podcast!
Good to be back!
Great stuff as always, Big Cat!
excellent interview
Steve is a Baltimore legend
Great advice at the end!
That was a great interview. Joe I’m so glad you’re doing well. Was a really inspirational listen. Congratulations on your induction to the lacrosse hall of fame! I thoroughly enjoyed following you and Gary at Carolina during your heydays. You were maybe the most skilled player in the country in ‘84 and ‘85, and Gary clearly was in ‘86. My dad passed 5 years ago, but shared many stories about your father, saying he was the best lacrosse player he ever saw. He was his best friend for most of his life. My condolences for your loss. Please tell Gary I said hello and that I hope he’s doing well. RQ
EXCELLENT!!!
OB. Had this guy as a coach and English teacher at the beginning of his career in ed. Been reflecting on him a bit recently as I navigate a career as an English teacher. He was a great mentor. Regardless of how you did in his class or on the lax field, there were personal and moral standards he challenged you to meet that felt like truer goalposts in your development
