When you convert monochrome LUTs to camera profiles or when you import other black & white camera profiles into Lightroom or Camera Raw, there’s something extra-interesting that happens. When you apply these profiles, the B&W panel DOES NOT show up in the editing adjustments. Instead, the Color Mixer is still there. And you can use it! Fine in it's day but today it's a no competition for content aware and replacement that On1 realy, really needs to have to remain viable. Content Aware is now in Lightroom, but as we all hate Adobe and we all refuse to buy into their subscription model, the balls in ON1's court. Replacing spots is all good and well, but when you're trying to remove objects such as cables, lights and signs against complex backgrounds, On1 doesn't cut it anymore.

I'm still using the original Mirrorless Mover 30i which has held up extremely well over the years since I moved to the Sony FE mount system. The older I get, the less gear I want to carry with me. especially if I'm doing any lengthy walking or hiking. For hiking I've recently started using the Think Tank Turnstyle 10 v2, which great for a camera and extra lens, but doesn't accommodate water or tripod. But it is very comfortable and is so easy to access on the move. This one looks like a good option for airline travel and hiking but for me, only if it's not overloaded. I've been using a Manfrotto backpack for airline travel which has. a removable camera module so it can be used as a conventional backpack. This Think Tank looks like it might be a possible replacement down the road. The Think Tank Photo Backlight Sprint also looks like a nice option. Ai is invading everything but, as I used to say and keep saying, too many contenders !!!. Let's see what each one has to offer. So far, LR is my winner but... future remains to be seen. Ai is going to grow very very fast in our software and in our lives, for good and for bad Thanks Scott

Hi Scott, as my ON1 go to Guru, I thought I'd ask you this question regarding searching in ON1 2024. In ON1 2023 there was an Advanced Search feature that really did let you search for anything and I got used to using that to see which photos in a folder I hadn't edited. This was useful for either workflow (to see what I still had to work on) or to cull images I decided I didn't wany any more. While the search bar in 2024 is good and I can search for any kind of edits I have applied, I can't see any option to search for images I haven't edited yet, or am I missing something? I know I can work around this by searching for edited images, marking them say 5 stars, and then searching for images with less than 5 stars. But it just seems odd that ON1 seems to have omitted a 'Not Equal To' search option. Thanks

That's a Metadata search. Choose "Edited" from the list of metadata options, and *within* that list is second "Edited" entry - a global "are edits present" property. Match with a rule of "is not True".

@@ScottDavenport Scott, once again you are an absolute star. I was expecting to find that search in the attribute section, but you're right, metadata does everything I wanted - Thank You !

thank you, very informative especially about the 'option key' to remove AI selection. just love the new upgrade on this software.

Very good improvements in super select and quick brush, although they seem to do the same thing and therefore somewhat. That said, I’m not complaining. Thanks for the video - like others have commented, moving slowly is a great tip for refining the mask.

Yes, both the Quick Mask AI brush and SuperSelect operate in the same way. As a long-time user of ON1, I often instinctively apply a filter first and then a mask, so having the AI smarts in the Quick Mask helps me when I've forgotten about SuperSelect (old habits can be hard to break!).

Great video as always Scott. I uploaded the new version today and can no longer see my images in browse mode! Should I bin the whole program and reload it or do you think there is a simpler fix? Also I lost the option of taking images from iPhotos straight into On1raw. I get a message saying I need to allow “helper” but have no idea where this is or how to activate it. Hope you can help.

      That's a question for ON1 support. Haven't experience that.

@@ScottDavenport Just tryed a few spiders and they masked really well, very impressed. Only problem is ON1 is running so slow I cant edit with it. May have to do a reinstall. First opening after the update caused ON1 to download some modules that took nearly an hour. Never seen this before so the update may not have gone well for me.

It's great, but I have to learn the new user inner face all over again. If you ever make a video of the UIF that would be appreciated . Thank you for the update Scott.
