Checking out the Tokoro SF3. Tokoros are electric under foot, and really have that spark you need in conditions. Wade is the master, and so far this board is covering the small to medium surf like it says. Time will tell, but I am enjoying it so far. Large Tokoro FCS 2 fins go sick, at the moment I'm running Fcs 2 Tokoro large Fronts with Pyzel medium rear mix of Pivot hold and release super fast and fun my favourite setup. The Futures Tokoro go really good to.
@@tezf6883 Legendary mate, thanks for the setup tips 👍
Recommended for 2-6 foot surf? (Israel wave)
It’s Maybe not the best choice for Israel’s waves, but in your wintertime, it would be a good option to surf the beach breaks in Tel Aviv and Herzliya during the head high swells if that helps.
@@jakesboardreviews thank💙
Not sure that qualifies as “hitting the section” getting there, showing up, present maybe
Sounds like you bought the board for different purposes, by your review it seems like you were looking more for a groveler for mushy days, other than a performance daily driver shortboard for average to good waves
Hey mate, I purchased this board as I enjoyed riding The V3 Rocket previously, and always wanted to try the Rocket Redux. I felt the board lacked the drive I was looking for, and control. However, I didn’t feel hindered performance wise in steeper sections. Not my favourite board I’ve reviewed so far, but I’d still give it another crack
Hi mate, which model you preferred this or the Inferno 72?
@@adamdagan8065 Hey mate, I would personally say the Inferno 72.
Ur super underrated bro, keep it up
@@GuilhermeSantos-jd2bn Thanks mate, I appreciate the support 🙏
Is that yellow the natural color of your surf board
the only NPJ ik about is no poop july
@@whycantibeegg 😂
Stomp pad looks a little forward on that...
Nice one mate! I'l considering getting one as well. It would be helpful to know your weight as an indication for the sizing. Would you also take one with more volume under your feet? Cheers
@@bigben007ch Hey mate, I weigh roughly around 70 kgs. In regard to volume, If I purchased an RNF 96 new, I’d most likely buy one with more length. I had the RNF Redux, which is still my favourite board to date. It was a stock 5’5 19 1/4 x 2 1/4 at 27 L, and that was perfect. I personally wouldn’t buy the RNF 96 in a 5’3, as a believe length is your friend. However, my performance didn’t feel hindered if that helps.
@@jakesboardreviews thanks a lot, that is really helpful! I weight the same. I'll head to my local Surfshop and grab the stock one (at a sale price :-) I saw this week.
@@bigben007ch Good on you mate, definitely worth grabbing if it’s on sale. Let me know how it goes for you.
how much do you weight? and height pls. xrs
@@user-vx8er7tk2w Hey mate, I’m roughly 5’11 at 70 kgs.
I’m just about the same as you. But I wear 4/3mm wet suite. I’m on the fence. For the board’s width, I might go with the 5’11. You ride Medium fins, right? All the best, from Portugal
Thanks for the tip- AM2 honeycombs?
Just keep doing what you do mate Haters will be haters and your putting out good content for the average Joe punter so just so your own thing 👍👍
Legend mate, I appreciate it, you’re spot on. Criticism is inevitable in any field of work and life. I Appreciate the support mate 👍
I liked my BV2 but felt sticky at times with regular thruster set, RNF is on my radar hopefully it doesn’t feel as sticky
The RNF is best ridden as a 2+1, either with The MR Twins in FCS 2 or The Futures T1’s.
bumped into this one. was surprised :). its not a famous break so I wander how you got there. its probably the best lefts then it breaks. these are perfect long lefts of the jetty (a little south from where you sat) it used to be a secret spot with guard dogs on the beach so surfers dont go there but around 20 years ago they opened it up...
Great country, great food and the women are beautiful. I kept the location secret on the channel, but if you know, you know. Awesome experience 👍
hey jake what boards do you recommend for people progressing to intermediate stage? like wanting to do more turns and maneuvers, thanks🤙
Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. It depends what you’re looking for. I would personally recommend the Hypto Krypto from Haydenshapes, or The DHD Phoenix. I haven’t ridden these boards, but for what you’ve described, they’d be good options I think for you if that helps.
@@jakesboardreviews thanks for the reply i appreciate it:)
For boards with deep concave mid rocker would your prefer the KA fins or the MF fins??
Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. I think both The KA’s and The MF would work for that concave. The MF’s would offer slightly more hold, whilst the KA’s, will feel less stiff due to less rake if that helps.
Trying to look for the rest of this list?
You’ll see it in the shorts 👍
maybe try riding ir in bigger waves? It is supposed to go from 2-8ft so maybe it would go better in good waves.
This board in my opinion doesn’t handle anything very well above 4.5-5ft surf. I ride the boards I review in a wide range of conditions. Maybe as a round tail, it will handle a slightly bigger wave range.
How does this compare to a black baron 2.1? Love your reviews btw
For me, The RNF 96 doesn’t feel as loose as the black baron 2.1, and it’s easier to ride in my opinion.
How does the RNF hold up in bigger surf?cheers brus
@@jacobtomazin1283 In The Lightspeed construction, I don’t think it would hold as well in bigger surf. If you want it to perform in slightly bigger waves, I would say buy it in a PU. However, I haven’t fully reviewed this one as of yet, so I can’t give a full verdict.
Yeah sweet was definitely thinking of going pu cheers bro
@@jacobtomazin1283 No worries mate, glad I could help.
Hey mate, did you like this better than BV2? After something for summer conditions to sit underneath my daily driver. Yewwww cheers.
For me personally, I’ve only ridden it in the lightspeed epoxy construction, but I prefer the RNF 96 to the BV2. There’s a bit more spark under foot for me personally. Both great boards though, for a range of conditions.
Hey Jake great review! I've ridden Tokoros for many years and they have all been great. Awesome to see you do a review on one of them. Hope to see more. The Lemonade & The Project are also super good small wave boards.
Hey mate, I appreciate the support. I don’t know why I didn’t jump on Tokoro’s sooner. I’ll take note of those other models, cheers.
Hey Jake, Have you surfed the Baron 2.0? Can you compare it, especially it looks like that it’s better in bigger waves however loses a bit on smaller days. By any chance could you also compare the baron to the hypto twin and where you would see the differences? Thanks
Hey mate, by the Baron 2.0, are you talking about the Red Baron? Because there are a few Barons in The JS Board line. I’ve never ridden the Hypto Twin, so I can’t compare that board to others.
mine works in 2foot and above. "sometimes it feels weird". I know what you mean.
Not my favourite board to be honest, a bit of a weird one.
Keep it up bruv!!! Ive watched a ton of your reviews good work you two
Thanks mate, I appreciate the support 👍👍
Why do pyzel boards pressure dent so easily?
It’s all dependent on the batch and where they are made.
Nice
Thanks mate 👍
Nice job 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it 👍
Great review ! Thanks
No worries mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍
The AM1 have a smaller centre fin, so...
great review! buying this one today!
Legendary mate, hope it goes well for you.
What is the height difference between you and the board ? I’ve got and rnf and I’m wondering if I don’t like it or if it’s too small Thanks
Hey mate, my mates cali twin was a stock 5’6. I’m roughly 5’11 in height. I would ideally ride a stock 5’5 if that helps.
I really want to get one I’m an intermediate/ advanced surfer. I usually ride a 5’6 Hypto (about 28 L). Should I get a 5’6 bb 2.1? Or maybe the 5’5? Just wanna make sure the rail can sink properly (I’m 5’7, about 70 kg, good fitness, surfing mostly beach breaks) I’m thinking about the hify 2 construction
Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. I’d recommend you go the stock 5’6, as the 5’5 may feel a bit too small due to it being a 2+1 setup predominantly. I would say buy the Hyfi only if you want to surf this board in the 1-3 ft range if that helps.
Nice fun little wavfes, glad you had fun!
Thanks mate, ye a couple fun waves.
One of the worst days in Zarautz 😱
You’re not wrong, it was good before that.
Sick vid dude! Floater was working at the end 🤙
Thanks mate, I appreciate it, ye, I got that little inside floater.
too much wiggling around and this board was not designed for small waves
I just borrowed a mates board. I’ve ridden this board in the smaller and bigger stuff with no issues. It’s also old and worn, so it isn’t performing at its full potential.
got two slayers 5´10´´ they surf small waves just fine as long as It’s not windslop
@@carlosaramosss8166 Hey mate, yes, it’s definitely quite a versatile board The Rusty Slayer.

How do you do this trick ?
It’s done in a motion. You kick the tail towards the curved peak/ section and spin yourself around, leaning with your back foot and following through with the front.
I gochu bro. Just got you to 1k🎉
Legend mate, cheers 👍
used to sleep a bit on js but they're quickly becoming one of my fav brands. sick vid aswell
JS definitely have some good boards in the range, however, some models are a bit hit and miss. I appreciate the support mate 👍
It has a true shortboard rocker, you have to surf on rail in larger waves not for 1-2ft grovelling like in your vids
I’ll always have 10-15 sessions at least on a board before I review it in all conditions. The Fever wasn’t my cup of tea.
@@jakesboardreviews the lost RNF96 looks really good under your feet!
Do you use a polarising filter on your camera?
No nothing, it’s just shot at 1080p at 60 frames per second.
When the water's so clear you can see the reef beneath.
Surfing reef is an experience for sure.
nice shape, it's a shame these boards get so yellowed.
They will also get these weird red/pinkish spots on em too
Definitely a negative if you want to sell them afterwards.
Depends on the batch.
1k incoming! Keep going brotherrr
Thanks Matty, so close to it mate 🙏🙏
Hey been a long time watcher of your channel, but always wondered which region of the coast you’re local to? Don’t expect you to name names , but to get an idea are you North NSW or Central coast ?
Hey mate, I appreciate the support, I’m based in the Northern NSW region 👍
