Does Martial Arts Energy and Have Relevance Today-Episode 953-whistlekick Martial Arts Radio Podcast
SUMMARY
In this episode, Hayashi Tomio discusses his journey of discovering and understanding the concept of Qi in martial arts. He shares his personal experience of realizing the existence of Qi during a training session and how it sparked a 30-year investigation into the practical application of Qi in traditional martial arts. Hayashi Tomio emphasizes the importance of understanding and harnessing Qi in martial arts training and explains how it can enhance strength and technique. He also highlights the significance of proper body alignment, breathing, and relaxation in cultivating and utilizing Qi. He explains that our bodies project an energy field, known as the subtle energy body or chi, which can be manipulated to enhance physical strength and performance. Hayashi emphasizes the importance of proper technique and body alignment in activating this energy field. He also explores the connection between the energy field and the mind, highlighting the role of mental control in harnessing the power of subtle energy. Hayashi shares insights from his book, 'Kiko: Hidden Power Electric Moves,' which delves deeper into these concepts and provides practical guidance for martial artists.

HOLY SHIT :) :) :) - Seeing Eyal made me realise how old I am and what a long time ago it is that I ran the UK MEET which was a one day event where different martial artists got together to train. Eyal ran what I believe was the first open training of KM in the UK and I still remember nearly having a heart attack when he opened up a bag of knives for us all to train with - real knives, SHARP knives, hopefully made 'safe' by taping over the edge of the blade :) What impressed me MOST about Eyal was that after teaching his session, he didn't go off to sit and chat or just leave like several instructors did over the course of the 8 times we ran the UK MEET but he stayed on and I recall him training in the Wing Chun session run by Victor Evelyn. Great days, great man :)

Cikatic was a hard opponent for Hoost because of his style, but that doesn’t mean he would lose to Wilson. Hoost beat almost everyone afterwards, he would beat Wilson up bad

Bull shit - Bruce already had McQueen and all the other Hollywood elites - the truth of the matter is - Joe and his wife visited with Bruce and Linda. Later when Joe and his old lady got home they got into an argument about how much time he was spending with Bruce training and neglecting her. So, she told Joe that Bruce had made a pass at her while Joe was in the other room. Joe out of anger ( and a death wish) jumped into his car and flew back over to Bruce’s house. When he began pounding on the door Bruce opened it and Joe said, what the Fuck were you doing making a pass at my wife ? Bruce could not believe it. He said, WHAT ? Then he called for Linda to come over and when she did Bruce said, Linda, I want you to hear this, Joe’s old lady said that I made a pass at her and Linda shook her head in disgust with Joe for believing her. Joe at that point knew that he Fucked up and simply walked away. When he got home he knew she had lied and set him up . She admitted such and they broke up. Bruce never forgave him for that. Bruce actually wanted to use Lewis in Return of the Dragon and possibly enter the Dragon. But, like they say, a jealous women is a dangerous women and Joe fell for it. I’m certain that was his biggest mistake in his life and regretted it until The day he died. Now, Bill Wallace shut your mouth if you don’t know the truth. Bruce name was already floating around that he did not need crumbs from Stone ( a wife stealer) Norris ( a liar) nor Joe or you for that matter. Everyone was seeking out Bruce. Tada…..

We've cycled through different iterations. Started out with just testing on new stuff as a formal testing, then did in-class/surprise promotions, now we're doing formal testing with cumulative demonstration. That's what most resonates with my passion, and with the area we're in, the parents seem to appreciate this mode the most. However, I do like the idea of pre-testing as a way to get the prior curriculum out of the way before the formal testing.

Equally as Bruce ??? Yeah right. Another guy who trained with Bruce and went on to win tournaments but later - when Bruce didn’t put them into his movies like he did Chuck had nothing but bad things to say about Bruce but of course it was after he died.

Thanks to Mr Wallace for this confirmation about Bruce Lee wanting other top world martial artists to name Bruce as their instructor, I think Bruce wanted more fame if other famous people had him for their instructor, if Bruce Lee thought he couldn't get what he wanted from other famous actors he than fell out with them.

Bruce Lee didn't need any of them. Alot of them were hypocrites, when he was alive nobody said anything bad about him, as soon as he is gone they start talking. All this being said, without them Bruce Lee is the biggest name in the Martial Arts and he helped introduce and inspired people to take up the Martial Arts more than anyone.

There are many that witnessed Bruce in real confrontations. Dan Inosanto admitted he witnessed many, Jim Kelly, John Saxton, and Bolo Yeung talk about the fight between Bruce Lee and the extra on the set of Enter The Dragon. Bruce didn't do tournament fights because he felt they were too restricted and didn't fully prove the full effectiveness of full potential fighting. He did it for real.

I saw that fight between Joe and Bill in 1970. I was an instructor at Tracy's Karate and Joe was working for Tracy's and representing them on the tourney scene. Bill won with a backfist strike. Can't remember if it was in overtime, but I think so. Our school was in Indianapolis. We went to Glenn Keneey's school in Anderson one time and worked out there. Bill wasn't around that day, but I met him years later in Ocala, Florida and we had a nice chat. I was able to learn several techniques through Joe because he gave seminars for Tracy's instructors. That plus his JLFS helped me a lot in my own development as a martial artist. Great people.
