I keep putting off starting my first Sanderson book because they are such a commitment, but I think it's time I finally try! And I totally agree with you regarding Bridgerton, and my issue is that they felt they had to change Colin so much this season to make his "sexy" the way the Duke and Anthony were. The actor just can't pull that off for me. Colin is attractive because of his sweetness and kindness, which I felt the actor played well in previous seasons, and it would have been so much hotter to see him and Pen explore their attraction and sexuality together as equals. His character arc was not compelling and it made his character dull and tropey. Nicola Coughlan has so much charisma and charm and it made him fall that much flatter in contrast.

I absolutely adored The Binding! It's sad not many people know about it tho 😭 The Betrayals was brilliant as well

You had me at queer romance

I love how you can review a book without giving much spoilers about the actual book! 😍 I've already read it before I'm running around finding the review for the book. I felt like Ali Hazelwood did a total genre shift (my edition had a brief mention to think of it more of an erotic romance than romcom... I wonder if it was added soon after or on newer prints?). I felt like it's a grumpy x sunshine but gender shift so I really enjoyed it 😂 I really really wished they added more scenes with Eli's friends because their interaction was 💯 for me. Personally, I gave it 5 stars for all the vibes because I reaaaally enjoyed it 😅 Much more of a mindless read from all the books I've read recently so I didn't mind too much.

I LOVED Funny Story. I just finished (like 20 mins ago) People we Meet on Vacation, I still have to read Happy Place but Funny Story is her BEST book by far to me. I even reread it earlier this week, cuz I am this obsessed.

i've read homegoing, 1984 and the stationary shop. now let me tell you i LOVE homegoing, it's among my favourite books ever. the way it's written by telling the stories of the generations that come after two sisters - one who was enslaved and kidnapped to america while the other stayed in ghana - and how those stories contrast each other but also at times converge. i loved it 1984 i read at school so i cant tell you much, i know i liked reading it and perhaps i'd like it more if i were to read it again now. cant say too many good things about the stationary shop. i bought it, started reading it, didnt like it but kept on reading because i had payed money for it. the plot was meh, i dont think the story was executed well. i remember i didnt like the first half as the story kept dragging on, but liked the second half a bit more. but yeah overall didnt like it

Thank you for your review! I was trying to find out if I would like this book or not, I do love beautiful writing and atmosphere but I would be probably annoyed by the slow pace, and I am getting so annoyed at books calling themselves fantasy romance and it barely has a romance at all

I just finished reading this novel and I was so surprised by how effortless a read it was. A bit long winded at times but the prose was always so clear and digestible. I also enjoyed the way the author described mental illness and addiction, so sincere, and even though the protagonist, Cyrus, is kind of up his own ass, he's never inauthentic. Simultaneously surreal and grounded. I'm glad I read it.

a wonderful review! loved that you've been following his work ever since his poetry. this book was my only introduction to his work. i too felt the similes went a little overboard, but forgiven given the plot points and the beautiful swell at the end.
