Meanwhile... While my boat is being painted
Yet another tenuous link to narrowboating... But back in Devon for five weeks as my boat is being painted and you might be inclined to ask, what does the chap know elsewhere on CZcams as Major Dolby's Cat, do first on dry land? He goes to a Cat Cafe in the heart of South Devon. I'm thinking I will stay here for the five weeks it will take to paint my boat.

Tenuous link to narrowboating aside, this is my shortish road trip to Mostyn, Llandudno and a rather disappointing visit to Abakhan Fabrics Hobby and Home in search of my red room inspired drapes for my boat's saloon, and I also discover a bank holiday food market with lots of yummy looking things for sale. FYI the rather lush, perfect red velvet curtains are now on order and being made by Simo...

5th March 2024. Like mid Spring weather. After ripping out the 29 year old cooker and hob I make use of the new free space for a cupboard and two shelves. Testing three Farrow & Ball colours: Charlottes Locks, Babouche, Arsenic

A short waterways excursion to find a nice quiet spot on the cut to make some noise. I hop aboard NB Zephyr with my neighbour Captain Richard at the helm. Please note, still haven't quite got to terms with my Pocket 2, why am I not in focus? I might have it solved by the next video.

I have had it on a notice board at the marina for a few days, so fingers crossed, it really would be a shame to scrap it. Weighs n absolute ton.
Best thing for moving them is a sack truck,after you’ve taken all the parts off that you can like the doors and grate,if it’s got one🤞
Nothing ever goes to plan,look on the positive about the fridge,it could have started leaking after you’d finished your alterations,you’ll get there👏🏻

DIY is bound to be more difficult on a narrow boat because of the space issue,I’m sure you’ll get there✌️

Oliver Reed & then a boat called 'Artful Dodger', what are the chances? 'Curse Of The Werewolf' is one of the first films I remember watching on BBC2, what disturbed me wasn't the werewolf but the beggar left to rot in the dungeon & the Marques Siniestro played by Anthony Dawson & the way they both deteriorated over time. 'Repulsion' is one of my favourite films, I first saw it when I went to an afternoon screening at Preston Guild Hall in 1990 I think, it was playing with 'Witchfinder General', there were only about 30 people there & writer Ramsey Campbell gave a talk in between films. Repulsion is the most frightening film ever made imo. Again it's about deterioration over a passage of time.

Ah, a fellow Hammer fan! Any particular favourites from The Studio That Dripped Blood? My personal choices are Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (Terence Fisher was Hammer's answer to Hitchcock in my view), Quatermass and the Pit (big Nigel Kneale fan), The Nanny (equal in my mind to Joseph Losey's The Servant), Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (which, if rumours are to be believed, they're currently remaking with Eddie Izzard... God help us) and Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (Valerie Leon: what can I say?) In terms of your wider film and television interests, ever thought about doing videos focusing on your favourite movies/filmmakers/etc?
Yes to all of those mate! The Stone Tape still sends shudders down my spine. And yes, the narrowboat theme will be second fiddle to some of the ideas I have, my love of old shows and cinema with a quirky presentation. Thank you again for your support mate. Happy to have you onboard.
I saw 'The Nanny' again recently & it struck me as possibly the most impressive film Hammer made, Seth Holt's film 'Nowhere To Go' is excellent as well.

Well thank you kindly for saying so. It has been a exciting but troubled road to get where I am today. Tears have been shed over the passing of loved one, while I am looking forward to moving onto my boat at the end of this month.

I'm not sure we ever "get over" such things, but I hope that memories of someone loved will in time become a deep source of joy as the pain of loss eases. I hope the move onto your boat goes well.

Its been fixed David. Turned out to be the old water heater, although it was boxed in by a previous owner, and he had installed a new diesel heater system, the old one was still connected to the pipes!!! Its now disconnected and the pipes re-routed.
