The opinion that we don't need star coins because "we got pets and clothes" is a bit... Silly. Star coins remain the one and only way you can purchase a horse in the game (with the only exception being the rune runner). You can't exchange clothes for a horse. You can buy clothes with the regular money you earn by doing everyday tasks and many, many people do not care about pets. Not being able to buy horses in a game about horses is okay because we got a sweater everyone else also got? Okay.
