I’m lucky to have family and friends in Japan so I can’t say I felt the loneliness but I understand the frustration of not being able to do anything without much difficulty. I’m proud of you for sticking through the journey and I want to say your Japanese is good, it’s better than mine 😂 and I have fluent Japanese family. I can't stress this enough, but if anyone is planning on going to Japan for the long road (more than 1 month) it is an absolute necessity to have a strong grasp of Japanese so the "frustation/culture shock" doesn't hit that hard, but I'm really glad u pushed through and enjoyed the rest of your time in Japan! Keep up the good content, you gonna reach big things!!

I've been living here for almost 8 years with my Japanese SO. Don't move to japan without a plan and learn the language beforehand. It will make your life a lot easier for everything and especially making friends. Love the video and love how you highlight it's not all rainbow and sunshine in Japan. A lot of unhealthy obsessed anime fans need that reality check

It's definitely cringe if you say "baka" the way they do in anime, and you're gonna look super dumb if that's the only word you know when coming to Japan, but i dunno if i'd call it a "cringe word' and just that some foreigners who use it are cringe. cuz "baka" is just a real word outside of anime, so it depends how you're using it. if you're not saying it weird in an unnatural way and it suits the situation just fine, it's a totally fine word to resort to.

I am almost at the 3 month mark of living in Japan. And all I can say is, it has its days. I live the weekends when I can go out and travel and luckily I knew a few people here already. But yeah, I am remaining patient and trying to look at the positives. If Japan has taught me anything it’s patience. I am on at least a 2 year journey here

I'm so thankful to my Japanese host families that taught me how to be Japanese and how to speak Tokyo and Osaka dialects and the customs and cultures of Kansai and Kanto regions.

Wow you're Japanese is almost as good as mine. TBH. I spent two years studying Japanese before studying abroad in Japan. Then I retook Japanese 1 twice in Community college and College.

You're going to be changed after studying abroad in Japan. So much so that you can't fit into America anymore because of reverse culture shock.

I'm going to study there at least two more times. Maybe three more times at most.

I learned so much the last time.

I blend in because I am Asian and have a compatible culture and the same philosophy and I spoke Japanese and could read and write it. And I also learned Japanese customs through Karate classes.

Brah this is the Asian or immigrant experience going to America for the first time.

I moved to Korea for what I thought was 1 year and that turned into 4 Now I'm moving to tokyo expecting just 1 year but we'll see what happens 😅

Amazing story it really inspired me because i am planning to move to japan as well once i reach uni to study abroad i'm 15 meaning i will have to wait 4 more years 😔 . This story made me want to go even more thank you!
