If I brought in a single bolt, could you restore a 1938 Alvis arount it?
When I look at low volume production cars like this, I wonder how they recovered the high cost of tooling to produce them.
WOW INCREDIBLY STUNNING IN EVERY WAY, AWESOME VIDEO REVIEW
VERY BEAUTIFUL ALVIS, I LIKE IT, NICE VIDEO REVIEW. sTUNNING INTERIOR & VAST TRUNK. WOW
Nice car.
Maybe leave out the grandiose music?
Price on application normally
I tried that had no response
How much is it please ?
mobil anda banyak sekali, mau dong satu karna aku belum punya mobil
Douglas Bader had several Alvis's
Lovely bit of fresh and lovely class. No wonder companies are looking to the past to escape the soulless designs of the present.
Stunning
A lovely car of the kind I would [in my dreams] really love to have. But not this one. How sad that the proper Alvis six cylinder engine has been replaced by that real bag of nails V8 from Rover/Buick. Some people have absolutely no taste. If I wanted a horror of an engine like that I would get a rusty scrapper of a Land Rover! Best wishes from George
George, that Rover bag of nails is a wonderful machine. You should try a good one, sometime. Technically magnificent, and with bags of extra performance capability should you want to tune it. The Alvis 6 I'm sure is also great, and will sound different and feel different.
I second the sentiments of helloxyz. That motor is light, under stressed and reliable. Driving a light auto so equipped offers a gob of torque and the growl of American muscle. While the inline 6 is elegant, it offers quite a different, busy sound.
When cars were lovely and individual.
Traditionalist or not , this is lovely , way quicker than standard six .
Well that was quite unexpected; I chuckled at your very understated use of “may have reservations”, but obviously this car has been incredibly well loved and the owner did what they thought best for their own reasons. It’s great to see it’s still on the road and being used for what it was built for.
Absolutely brilliant I have been aware of Red Triangle for decades as a late friend had his TD 31 which he bought new
Wonderful workmanship. Would love to afford to send my Alvis Grey Lady to be titivated. But sadly not in my life time.
Late 1939. Pulling up to the aerodrome. My Hurricane already warmed up. Then the bell is rung. “Thames Estuary-angels 20” as I saunter over, buckle in and roar off to confront the Hun. Scrape off the remnants of her lipstick and prepare to defend the homeland.
Obviously a gentleman of supreme integrity and taste
Aww beautiful
Beautiful cars, beautiful work
Two of us went from Enfield to Weymouth in one of these cars in 1960, great drive
TD looked better. Never cared for the double headlights.
So very beautiful ❤
Most beautiful car ever made. Gently gorgeous. Total class.
I've always liked the look of an Alvis!
Era eslusiva ,. Piu di ogni altra.....
The exact same car appeared routinely in the street where I lived in NZ. Absolutely gorgeous and as a teenager at the time [13] I drooled over it.
forgive me but what is the red thing inside the rear window?
Looks like an aftermarket high level brake light.. ??
Thanks that what I thought but I never seen anything like that one@@JAY61ish
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any more....:-((
Nonsense!
Nice bit of scaremongering going on there .. well done .. BS
Sod off with your copy-and-pasted eco-propaganda posted on every classic car video. The internal combustion engine will live on because enthusiasts will continue to 'do investments in oil-burning cars'.
@@brianw289 you can buy specialised fuels for classic cars that are less polluting than forecourt stuff. check out Coryton Fuels in the UK. I doubt the EU will ban anything classic like Alvis or Rolls Royce . I might be a different story for more modern old cars ..have to see. They cant say for sure batteries are the way forward
Love these cars. Were they ever officially exported to the US?
No
What a beauty. Thanks.
This beautiful machine is equal to the best of its type in that era of high end GT's
Thank you for showing such a stylish and elegant car. Car seems a poor description of this beautiful machine.
It was a Td 21 series one I believe
My dad's car I believe was sold to Red Triangle when he died over 20 years ago, I wonder if YLC 288 still exists somewhere and how I could find out ? 🙂
My dad's old td22 was sold to red triangle I believe ,this would of been over 20 years ago, I wonder where I would find YLC 289 if it were even on the road or not ? 🙂
Contact the Alvis Owners Club?
I believe this video was made by a iPhone 15 max pro. There are three small blue lights moving around in the picture that I recognize. Right?
Excellent
I AM IN LOVE-WOW SIMPLY STUNNING & MIND BLOWING CLASSIC I BORN OCTOBER OF 1963 ALSO LOL. LOVE IT, THANKS FOR SHARING/POSTING
Fabulous
Achingly beautiful.
Proper "grown-ups" car.
When I first saw it, I thought it was a Wolseley 6/110
Does have a lot in common with the Farinas, from the thumbnail I was 50:50 Alvis/VP Princess 4 litre R - IMO the Alvis with its smoother, more flowing lines has the edge from a stylistic perspective.
Alvis, another great name from Coventry. ❤❤
What a beautiful restoration. As a 10 year old I travelled in a relative's TD21 convertible with the same colour scheme as this one. Great memories. I thought they were designed by Graber of Switzerland? Thanks for the memory!
Alvis used the separate chassis principle till the end, so their cars could be sent to whatever coachbuilder you wanted. This one is by Park Ward in London. Alvis were popular in Switzerland in the 1930's - and became so once more in the 1950's, leading customers to use a local coachbuilder for the chassis that Alvis delivered. This was most often Carosserie Graber, who for many produced the best-looking Alvises. I think that the final Alvises (the TF21) were all Graber, but I might be wrong there.
@@1258-EckhartMany thanks
