My name is Brad. I am a technologist at heart. I am married with 4 amazing children. Tool was an inspirational band during my journey of adolescence into adulthood. I hope that these videos can help inspire people to follow their passions and pick up any instrument in order to create or play music. :)

Beautiful Wal
tabs?
Incredibly well played mate, and that bass tone is just thunderous wow
@@FredHampshire thank you very much
I'm new to bass. What tuning is this?
@@user-dy9mu2zv5w drop D. Almost all Tool songs are in drop D except for a few.
Amazing, man !! So beautiful. You nail the Justin’s tone ! Bravo maestro !!!! Thanks for sharing this !
@@psycho_lobster thank you! 🙏🏻
Do you have the original power supply for the tremolo? Mine makes a very loud noise when I turn it on, can’t tell if I need to change the tube or PS.
@@FalkG34 yes I do. My guess is it’s the tube.
I watched this video a year ago and it inspired me to learn it. Today marks the day I can finally play it all the way through. Enough cannot be said of how much repetition and discipline it takes to learn all those parts. Good job man! (your tone made me pee a little)
@@AlteredPhotons wow! Thank you for sharing! Yes these songs are very challenging to pull off and I’ve been doing it for 23 years! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 well done and congratulations!
@@TOOLbassplayer I have to ask, is your hair real in that video?
@@AlteredPhotons are you really asking that? Look at most of my other videos. 😀🤣
Not bad. 😉
Swweeettt, beautiful finger discipline 👍✌️🤙👌👊😎💯. Wal played, my dude 💝
@@annak29 thank you! 🙏🏻 love the pun 🤣😎
Good to see someone picking in the correct location on the bass to get that warm sound. The amount of Tool covers where someone picks right near the bridge 🤦🏻♂️

Killed it man, every nuance, every effect, every accent that makes it right. Well done....bad ass song too
fucking awesome !!!! love it !!!
Brad brother everytime I watch one of your videos I'm bloody amazed fuck man next level . What's the easiest song off fear to play something with no petals????
Thanks brother. Probably the one song I haven’t covered yet….culling voices 😀
@TOOLbassplayer Brad u gotta now I've posted a few videos of me playing no tool yet check it out
@@ryangriffith3729 I’ll check them out. Unfortunately, I started a crazy new job and traveling allllllll the time. I don’t have much time as of lately to record anything. 😔
@TOOLbassplayer no worries Brad thanks btw ur my first sub be safe bro
@@ryangriffith3729 thx. What an honor!!
I hadn’t seen one of his videos in so many years. Now he’s got a beard with Greys 😭 Where does the time go!! Good to see uploads from just a year ago. I wish Opiateofthemasses still uploaded videos. Remembering him is what brought me back to this channel.
I love your Tool cover vids. You get the feel and tone absolutely PERFECT.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
@@TOOLbassplayer No problem man. You put that Rick to great use!
Hey man! Can we please get the Tool Tabs website back up and running??? If you need help with funding it then please holler but we seriously need that back please!! Thank you
that nasty rick
What I really love is that fact that hit a lot of the “hidden” notes that either other guys don’t hear or just ignore. Idk man. There’s no more to cover but consider redoing the older ones at least :)
Been a fan for a very long time and just revisiting this and noticing… For Debbie, brother. Side note, ever consider redoing it all an album at a time with the freakishly on-point playing you already have? It’d be worth actually paying the price for an album to hear you and a few other cover guys just play the discography… You rock dude.
Thank you! 🙏🏻 the biggest challenge is time. My job is just crazy and I travel a lot. I’d love to do it though.
8:55 This chording section is one of the best I've ever heard anywhere. Chancellor is a goddamn beast. Great work on the cover!
How the hell did you get a wal bass!?!?
I bought one 21 years ago when they weren’t as rare and crazy expensive. 🙏🏻
Seems simple enough
🤘🏻🤘🏻
🙏🏻
How much you pay for the Wal? Jealous as hell man
About $3000 18 years ago.
I finally got one of these stingrays, not the sterling, but the real deal USA one. Incredible tone
I NEED a Brad reacts to Justin's gear rundown 🥹
Hearing the bass brought up so prominently in the mix makes it very obvious how heavily Primus and Les Claypool influenced Tool. Fantastic cover.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
your covers are always inspiring.. thanks for sharing
Thank you for the kind words! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Man i just love how heavy and melodic tool basslines are
Super good! I absolutely love the bass from Rosetta Stoned! Great cover. Justin is incredible.
so 10 years later here i am using the app moises to remove the guitar track to make a cover and i hear an anomly that every bass tab and cover misses twice once at 3:24 and 5:46. he isnt playing what you are at those times. he doesnt even play it live. and its the smallest detail that once you hear it, you'll never unhear it. hes playing 5 on A 7 on D then 3 on A and 5 on D then goes to bar chord the 3rd fret on D A D.....try it next time you cover the pot at those times
Cool. This is the most close up of him playing czcams.com/video/zjgEDrrp2_o/video.htmlsi=DJ1yfj0CO8uvM8AX
Well done🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤌 🤘😎🤘✌️❤️💯 The OG son✌️💯😎 always a pleasure watching you annihilate 🤘😈🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥 Yo, on the main intro riff, are you picking the high d and g simultaneously like a chord, or is the high d all hammers and pulls? 😇….please if I may ask hahaha✌️💯 There’s just a gangster amount of some seriously clean guttural beefy low end on the high d hahaha🤌 If you ain’t picking that ish 🤘… then my man, the OG of this TOOL bass playing world on CZcams is strait hammering and pulling those cables like a savage hahaha🔥🔥🔥✌️😎🤘😈🤘 Keep up the good work bro 💯 For real, I’m curious about how that riff is played Good looks dude🤘
Thank you for the kind words. Definitely hammer on and pull offs on the high d!! Just picking the open and d…the rest is hammer + pull! 😊
Go bulls
I see you, UW Husky!! Rock on with your bad self!!
Tool kicks ass and you do justice to Justin’s riffs 🤘🤘
Great playing! That Wall is gorgeous!🔥
Muchas gracias!! 🙏🏻
You've inspired a whole generation of bass players, thank you!
Thank you. I’m humbled but honestly, it’s Justin who inspired a whole generation of players. I’m just sharing his music 😀🙏🏻
@@TOOLbassplayer That very well may be true, but it was your video covers on youtube that inspired me and countless others (I'd imagine) to actually do these bass covers on here and try to make them sound as authentic and well-performed as possible. Anyways, thanks for the inspiration! Your bass tabs on your website were also really helpful in helping me learn some of their songs ;)
@@TheEldorado1991 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Guitar much too loud in the mix
Thx for the feedback!
That open E sounds wet. Nice cover
I can see slight disappointment in your face after seemingly the only tiny little mistake you made in the entire song at the outro 🤣 amazing cover. Man so many parts to remember. Always love coming back to these videos to see just how much of an amazing bassist JC is.
What's your Pedalboard consist of?
Absolutely killed it! Brilliant and thanks!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey man, I've followed your channel for years. Great playing. Mind if i ask what state you're out of?

Justin really is such a unique and innovative bassist, you don’t hear really any other rock bands with bass tracks like this
@@SterlingSimmons22 💯
totally. right now after whole life at 29 we are having a band in make, imma bassist. this is my exact resposibility. see u if we make it😄🫡
@@danielzachar628 best of luck man, where can I find your music
Looking forward to see Wings For Marie (esp. 2) pls🙏
How does the 2 pickup music man compare to the wal in terms of tone? Could I get away with emulating Justin’s bass tone using it instead of a wal since they’re a real bank breaker?
I own a Wal and an HH stingray. They definitely sound different, but the stingray is in the ballpark with the grindy sounding mids and highs. The G&L L2000 is another bass that I’d consider similar. If you want a direct example, Forty Six & 2 was recorded with a Stingray, not a Wal.
Nicely played!!!
