Having fun looking at possible players but the wage differences are just blowing my mind, just have no clue what players are feasable.

Representatives are paid to drive up their clients value, He would be an idiot to not talk to other partys.lets be honest the club at high level would have no qualms of sacking him if circumstances change dramatically on the field.Taking out the spectacular last 2 seasons this season will be one of the hardest ever seen by a club going into the best league in the world,occupied by the best player's in the world.even if we buy 100 million worth of players we are up against squads worth billions .the fact he is prepared to stake his reputation on ipswich and not a club with player's worth substantialy more is commendable. Its going to be unbelievably tough with plenty of losses.but for me success would be being a better team than last year where ever we finish.

I had 9th place Prem finish screaming at me pre McKenna saga, i will stick with it now he-s staying.

Maybe they can offset some of McKennas wage as consultancy fees regarding his input on the rebuild of the acaddemy, as i believe facilities improvements dont count toward the financial fair play rules

On a point of law, you can't force any employee to work (it's called specific performance under a contract) as that's slavery! The remedy for the club is damages for breach of contract which is the sum talked about by way of the release clause. So the contract only gives certainty of the club getting a payout but he could leave tomorrow.

Such a great day for our club. There's no point in worrying about whether other clubs were spoken to or not (they clearly were). The end result is all that matters. I'm sure a lot of the noise came from his representatives, who clearly wanted to stoke the rumours to get a better outcome, wherever he ended up. It's their job to do that and, frankly, this is what happens when you have arguably Europe's best young manager, as opposed to journeymen, or worse, like Cook, Lambert, Hirst, McCarthy et al.

With Chelsea now receding, here's how I think it plays out next week, genuinely without my blue-tinted glasses on: 1. McKenna has (or has had) very high level talks with United. He's been open about wanting to manage them. Both he and United agree it's not the right time just yet but strong relationships are re-established using the awards and stellar record he currently has. Ashton is fully briefed on the situation as McKenna's eventual ambitions in that direction have been clear from the start. McKenna is now on a hot watchlist for succession when the time is right. Both parties agree to stay in touch. McKenna assures Ashton that he will be transparent. 2. Ed Schwartz comes in and hammers out a new contract with McKenna, probably a bit more money but also importantly describes his vision for Ipswich now we're in the PL. McKenna gets assurances it's not just about scraping survival as he wants to continue to shine as a manager. Player funds are available within the limits as much as possible. 3. Brighton may or may not come in with a solid offer. McKenna has a decision to make there, they are now a big established PL club but Tony Bloom insists on using his 'global data bank' transfer method which could be too conservative for McKenna (this is why de Zerbi left). My thought is that by next weekend: 4. Ashton and McKenna make a joint announcement at the end of the week about the new contract. McKenna says that he's never said he wants to leave Ipswich right now, and is excited to get back to work on building a challenge for at least mid-table next season. Bottom line results are that McKenna gets firmly on the radar for the United job in time (they may even offer him a lesser role right now that he turns down), and exactly the contract and player investment assurances he wants from Schwartz & the other Ipswich owners. Win/win. Pre-season planning continues.

Message to kieren mkena dont ruin your great career what youve achieved already with Ipswich by going to Manchester United and being sacked eventually stay with Ipswich and at least finish the job by keeping them in the Premier league then after achieving that youve done your job

If McKenna does leave whoever we get is going to be a downgrade unless we are extremely fortunate,we were once before of course,when Bill McGarry left for Wolverhampton Wanderers as he felt he couldn't take Ipswich any further and the Wolves job was a more prestigious one,this after winning promotion to the top division as well.But McGarry went and was replaced with Bobby Robson,so it can happen,whether lightning can strike twice in the same place who knows,we will wait and see i suppose.

People wont like this but If he leaves, i’ll be forever grateful for what he’s done for us but i’ll 100% be hoping he fails. To jump ship at the first opportunity at this stage is unforgivable for me. Why should I be loyal to him, if he’s not loyal to us? Next season, if he leaves then I’ld understand.

Looks pretty clear he wants to leave. If he doesn't, the only reason will be that the clubs he wanted to join went for others. That doesn't leave us in a good position. He's burned his bridges here.

McKenna likes Ipswich and the surrounding area and the schools for there children all in all they love the area IPSWICH TOWN FC want him to stay and IPSWICH supporters want him to stay and he is successful here so why would McKenna want to leave

The only people fully committed to any club are the fans! For players, managers and even CEO’s it is a job. If any one of them get a better job offer then off they go! After KM’s incredible success at Ipswich we would be incredibly naive not to expect attention from established PL clubs and if any of the big clubs come calling there is no doubt in my mind KM will back himself and accept the challenge! 🤷

Whatever we think the decision will not be influenced by the supporters - we must just wait it out.

McKenna has had one good season in English football where he significantly overachieved and that was below the premier league. In league one he had a massive transfer and wage budget and achieved what was expected.

I can see McKenna's thinking - if he stays another season, things don't go well and we go straight back down, his stock drops and the chances of a big job fall dramatically. He needs to finish the job here and keep us in the prem.

On Mckenna, been thinking about his situation, tough call to make but here is how i would look at it. If man united call with everything you want.. i think its a must take.. if not you will always wonder and maybe regret rest of your life. Chelsea call, i would say no, this is a poison chalice job where you will be sacked no matter what and this job will be available to him every 2-3 years down the road with their sacking history. Brighton call you.... i would stay with ipswich.. reason... do you think you can do better for brighton than where they are now? Mid table is highest i see Brighton getting considering the competition. imo mckenna can only lose form this position there and has better chance to grow at ipswich. Lastly i also feel if salaries/perks/wants are similar as a person of integrity probably also should honor his contract at ipswich.

Again maybe unpopular opinion but if he stays he has to build a Premiership "survival" squad from a base largely made from Championship or even Div One level players. Is that a bigger ask then managing Man U, Chelsea or even Brighton? In worst case scenario if he stays and gets relegated where does that leave him?
