Witness the search as I find buried metal junk with a metal detector that can occasionally be classified as "better than junk". Historic finds will be recovered, researched and saved. All will be collected, reused or recycled to help make the earth a better place even if it's just from one discarded bottle cap at a time. Every hunt is sure to be a success!
4 Reasons I Packed Out this TV Circuit Board found while Metal Detecting in the Forest
I run across many things associated with my metal detecting hobby including discarded junk. On this last hunt I stumbled upon a shot up television deep in the forest. It's anyones guess how it got there but I put the circuit board from the TV in my pack and brought it back. I had 4 good reasons for doing so:
1) Human made trash does not belong in the forest.
2) This item can be scrapped and recycled as a low grade board. The savings in energy and primary ore are substantial. This especially applies to aluminum.
3) Metal has intrinsic value and can be sold for cash. It can be sold as is or the value can be enhanced by depopulating the board as I explore the joys of micro-scrapping.
4) This isn't work. Every aspect of finding, depopulating and cashing in is gratifying and a heck of a lot of fun. It's a win-win for all!

Surprise Find! Metal Detecting a Ski Slope in Summer
zhlédnutí 116Před 21 dnem
While metal detecting a ski run I come across the best find of the day ... a Leki Makalu Trekking Pole. Since these things don't come cheap I'll classify it as a treasure. #shorts #Leki Makalu #Treasure #Metal Detecting #Trekking
California Gold Rush - New Chinese Site Discovery. Opium, Porcelain and Coin.
zhlédnutí 543Před měsícem
Gary and I visit my friends property near the Klamath river where the closest largest town is Yreka which was very active during the California gold rush in the 1850's. This is an exploratory visit with no expectations on a section of the property we haven't yet set foot upon. After a day out detecting we are pleasantly surprised to have found Chinese relics including a coin from the 1700's, be...
Cashing in 17 lbs of Metal Detected Coins at Coinstar. Rejects!!
zhlédnutí 125KPřed měsícem
I take in about 17 lbs of coins found metal detecting to the local Coinstar for processing. Over 2,000 coins are counted. Rejects of over 100 coins. Options for damaged, mutilated, eroded coins discussed.
Ski Area Detecting - Success! Damaged Cash Value Recovered.

Cash found at ski areas gets ruined by the elements pretty quickly. This video chronicles the highlights of our last hunt (including finding more currency) and success in turning "trashed cash" to full worth. How mutilated cash is handled by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing vs. Federal Reserve guidelines to banks. Interesting key holder called the "Key Port" found. It didn't hold up too wel...
1850's Gold Rush Chinese Opium Box Found While Detecting. Amazing Condition!

This is about a metal detecting hunt to an old gold rush site where we have had previous success.
Not what I was Looking For! Explosives Found Metal Detecting.
zhlédnutí 92Před 3 měsíci
We didn't have much success in the way of cool historic artifacts but I did find a cache of blasting caps around old gold workings in Northern California. It's certainly not what I was hoping to find but all things found tell a story and this find is no exception. My last video was on finding anti-tank mines. I hope the explosives trend does not continue!
Holy Smokes! WW2 Era Anti-Tank Mine(s) Found While Metal Detecting.

We were hoping to find an old home site based on a pass through this area in the past that indicated some age based on square nails and other older metal found. While detecting along the way to the targeted area we ran across some big targets which when dug up looked like old camp stoves to us but in reality were US anti-tank training mines from World War 2. A complete surprise and shock to us....

Lyman Ingot found Metal Detecting!
zhlédnutí 967Před 5 měsíci
First ever find for me is highlighted ... a lead ingot. Also, a trip to the scrapyard to recycle almost 400 lbs of aluminum and lead. Lead is a very common find in the woods and near lakes and rivers. Detectorists provide a very valuable public service by removing it from the environment and recycling it properly.
Miles Away ... The Occidental Wood Stove Mystery

Searching the forest for a new detecting site I get lucky and find an area occupied over 100 years ago. Rare items that I've never found before provide insight and clues into the occupants lives. But there is at least one mystery that remains unsolved .
1850's Shot Pouch Measure Found Detecting!
zhlédnutí 266Před 6 měsíci
A couple of measuring devices from the 1850's and a very early aluminum bottle whiskey advertising premium from the early 1900's are some of "better than junk" finds from this hunt in the forest.
great video and info about age of coins. 🙂well one idea, could be, make a metal plate with laser print, put it in with couns into a container, future people metaldetecting can find them and read and maybe do the same thing, read , write and put in something too.. it would be learning and fun. a bit like the Geo treassure. 🙂 best regards from Denmark
Nice job 😊😊😊
Roll those recjects and deposit them.
How about using penny wrapper's provided by your bank for free. You can wrap them and deposit or exchange for cash at said bank. I do this at my local Well's Fargo, they have no problems with it.
I always check the reject tray at Wally World when i shop there. Some folks leave the rejects, why I have no idea. Have found silver, good looking coins, and even a gold English guinea along with other foreign coins over the years. Most times though there is nothing, but as long as I am already there why not ?
Wow ... I do the same. Found a merc dime once. Awesome that you once found a gold coin. Congrats!
@@green594 Just about fell over, LOL
Jesus. 12%??!!?? It used to be 8% which I still think is ridiculous. Roll them up and take them to a bank
A leaky capacitor or battery is also terrible for the soil/groundwater !
A 1982- 1983 that is over 3grams is worth much more than 1 cent
Just the idea that you'd want to melt down pennies doesn't sit right.
Good job mate
what about aluminum windows ,requires 80% good aluminum refined with 20% aluminum frames,to get pure alum, relative
Beautiful finds!
Great video! I learned a lot, really tragic that such a beautiful country is being destroyed for disposable garbage. Also, although it really helps your video and is quite funny, creating AI images uses a lot more energy than finding one that already exists "Research suggests that creating a single AI image can consume anywhere from 0.01 to 0.29 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy. That's like running your refrigerator for up to half an hour, depending on its size and efficiency." I wish we didn't live in a coal and oil dependant society, as a lot of technological potential would be much more ethical
I wasn't aware of the increased energy required to create AI images. Thanks for the info!
Wrap those crusty coins up and deposit them in your bank account.
Great work
put them in a coin roll and put nice looking coins on the ends and then you get the full face value.
Thanks for helping Mr Green Detecting
Loophole - It is illeagal to deface and destroy any US currency unless the destruction actually transforms said currency into a more valuable state. There are machines that charge several quarters to press another image into a penny. The penny coin is defaced, but is made more valuable by what has been pressed into it. So, it is legal. You stated that pennies earlier than 1981 are pure copper and have a melted coper value of 3 cents. Therefore, menting it actually increases the value. That makes it legal.
Good argument.
You should take a closer look at the 1982 and 1982 d. An error on these coins are worth thousands if you find one.
Buy one of those penny press vending machines..and create a side business!!!
Coinstar machines reject silver coins, I find Roosevelt dimes left behind occasionally. So far, my credit union still accepts coins, but there's always a few careless folks who save beat up coins that will jam a machine. It's too expensive to keep them repaired, so a few goofs end the service for the majority. I throw away coins with road rash, mostly pennies and sometimes nickels.
I find corroded zinc pennies all the time. I just roll them up and take them to the bank. I always save 1959-1982 copper cents and wheat cents. I keep the wheat cents and sell the copper memorial cents by the pound.
Thanks! I have foubd a '92 penny worth over $10,000 maybeyou added another one into cerculation..thanks again!!
Wow that's pretty awesome! If I did put one back in circulation it wouldn't grade very well. Ha!
Is it graded and did you sell it?
Reject pennies make great 12 gauge slugs for Zombies.
Feed em the other half brain u don't use
That's really cool that you actually clean the coins. I made the mistake of taking a bunch of dirty "metal detecting" coins to my bank a couple years ago...they weren't very happy with me (small town...no coinstar machines around here). I did wash them off, but they were still in pretty rough condition
OH BY THE WAY ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET YOU ANOTHER WINGNUT SNUG THEM TOGETHER AND THEY WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
It’s a simple solution, roll the rejected pennies & take them to the bank. The pennies are still money in your pocket.
Coin star is a rip off!! They take 10-12% of what you put in them. I take my coins to the local casino; because they know you’ll most likely spend the $ there they charge you zero!
I always take the rejected coins and spread them all over where people metal detect ....they look like chickens picking up feed.... great videos 😂. Small bits of copper wire are also hilarious. Hours of fun watching the person running around looking for something better 😂.
Just spend those old pennies & coins. Clerks don't care. I get ripped taped bills all the time.
Honestly, I think you had a great idea burrying the jar of rejected pennies in a metal detecting hot spot. While it make not be worth alot, someone would get the thrill of finding it.
why would you give up the 10% at coinstar?
I sure wouldn't want to do that. That's why I opted for the Amazon gift card with no fee.
The reject pennies are fun to take back to a park and scatter them all over the place. Someone else can have the thrill of finding them.
Chào bạn video rất tuyệt vời chúa sẽ phù hộ chúng ta bạn nhé ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Illegal to melt a penny, but legal to come undocumented across the southern border. Hmmmm.....
I just roll up my trash penny's and use them at the grocery store. They weight the same as new penny's and work just fine if in paper rolls. Don't waste them.
Fun Fact! The US has never minted a penny as pennies were and still are a British coin. When we gained independence, the founding fathers wanted an unalike economy to that of Britains with our own currency, so we had our version of the coin made which is just called a cent or one cent coin.
Well, all our lives we have known them as pennies. But some British people don't like it for some reason.
Score!
12% service charge? Go to a bank and use their coin counting machine. You do not need an account with them.
The shipping to banks alone adds greatly to the cost of coinage.
I'm originally from Miami. Used to surf by the pier at South Beach. Long time ago! You sure are right about the shipping.
@green594 there are still people out here surfing at South Point Park. The pier down at South Beach 😄
SHOULD HAVE SOAKED THEM IN COKECOLA
I make it a point to save the nastiest reject coins and pass them out to the folks looking for spare change in town..they seem to take them no issue
Florida coinstar 10%
I saw another dude on yt seperate the pennies from other change then add salt, pebbles, and white vineger to the tumbler and they clean better. I been doing that.
Never clean coins
Collectible coins ... yes.
At least check for silver coins.
I used to hike the runs at Sierra Ski Ranch now Sierra at Tahoe. I found all the same things except cell phones, a few years before their era. I found a LOT of alcoholic beverages especially under the lifts. Lots of schnapps bottles. I shot many bottles with my .22 that day. The sealed bottles we took back to the summer home and drank. Beers are a bottle of champagne 🍾. I loved combing the slopes just no metal detector. I know of an old ski area that closed operated in era of silver coins. But it’s location is forgotten. Have to go back one day.
Ha! Yes ... go back to those old ski areas with a metal detector.
"One person's junk is another's treasure" "Salt" an appropriate area with the junk coins, then invite a curious child to use one of your metal detectors to find and keep some coins . . . Think about it, the child wins, the hobby wins, and you win.
Cool idea!
Watching from down in Redding. Good luck
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Go to Northern Nevada and look for Gold.
Sounds good to me!
