First look at Proton e.MAS7 EV
Here they are... the first pictures of Proton's e.MAS model - the e.MAS7 - which will be the Malaysian automaker's first (of five) production fully electric vehicle.
Proton said that public perception that the new EV is a rebadge of a model from Geely is incorrect.
Proton personnel have been very involved in the model's development, especially to make it suitable for Malaysians and Malaysian conditions.
Over 700,000 engineering man-hours have been put in as the model was being developed. So it's no mere changing of the grille and putting the eMAS and Proton badges on. It is a car specifically developed by Proton as its first EV.
The e.MAS7 in the pictures is a prototype and many aspects are still under development by Proton R&D and Proton Design.
More details will be revealed in coming months.

Ir Ahmad Hadri Haris was a visionary almost 20 years ago when he lead Malaysia's initiative to encourage photovoltaic solar energy system installations. I did a couple of them. They are still operating and still reducing carbon footprint of the houses. Glad to hear Ir Ahmad Hadri Haris is now focused on the automotive sector - much improvement needed there.

It was not only about developing new models but also the first time Toyota had moved production and even development to bases outside Japan. The IMV series was developed under the leadership of Akio Toyoda, then CEO for the Asia Region and current Chairman of the Board. The IMV series was developed with local engineers in the spirit of genchi-genbutsu, ensuring the vehicles were developed to meet the specific needs of customers in the markets. As the automotive industry continues to evolve and customer needs diversify, the lifestyles of customers in Thailand - the biggest IMV market - also continues to change. This prompted Toyota to review the product line and return to its origins to create an IMV pick-up truck that is affordable and meets the needs of today’s customers. Referred to as IMV 0, the new model carries the Hilux Champ name but is very different in appearance from the current Hilux. It is presented as a mobility product for both commercial use as well as for personal use for recreational activities. Prices range from 459,000 to 577,000 baht (RM61,300 - RM77,000).
