Good job mate I’ve only started working on these So far I’ve got two to run but seems like air gets in as it revs it’s guts out then stalls. Not getting enough fuel I suspect and air coming in is the culprit, you think so?

she looks lovely Joe mate you cannot go wrong with Quality Briggs and Stratton motors and luckily those ones are easy to work on for sure and the newer ones are a prick for some people from memory too.

Can you show us a picture how you connected the stop/start arm and spring to the carbs? I couldn't quite see.

Awesome work Joe mate and yep no kidding the piston and rings were fried like a burnt bit of toast however funnily you cannot put butter on that one though but yeah luckily the rest was salvageable as a good bonus and yep the blades too yep like pair of mushroomed leaves to me.

Nice video. I have an identical engine on a utility. If you wire brush the crankshaft thread before you undo the nut you don’t damage the thread and it comes of easily. Regards

As an American, I've always wondered why Austrailian lawn mowers have pivoting blades mounted on a center wheel as opposed to the flat iron, bar-shaped blade like mowers here have. I wonder what the performance difference is between the two designs. I'll be honest that tiny little two stroke mower performed better in that tall grass then my modern Lawn Boy mower did in the same type of grass. I'd love to see a competition between one of these old Victas and an old 2 stroke Lawn Boy. The old ones with the offset front wheel.

I was just given a mower with an old gv400 honda engine on it. It had been torn apart more than a decade ago due to a no spark issue. My local auto parts store can get a set of points for it, but not a coil. I've been looking at the chinese ebay ones. I ended up ordering one of those cheap china ones because an OEM coil is just more expensive than i want to spend on this machine. Tha ks for giving me hope that the cheap coil from ebay might actually work!

Seeing black oil in an aluminium parent-bore engine is always disheartening...

Nice Victa 4 stroke mate.....I have a Victa Lawnkeeper with a Tecumseh mower thats still powering on but I love my 2 strokes.

Nice to see you around again. Those B&S side valves are great...they just keep going with minimal maintenance required. My LawnKeeper is still going great after 20 odd years but the deck has rusted out now in the usual place near the left handle mount.

I've never seen a crank snapped off like that, otherwise a good day at the tip

grouse work mate and yep horrible life factor when people don,t put oil in their fuel for the mixture and yep removing the muffler/exhaust is a key way to peek through without pulling the motor apart for sure like a Chainsaw for sure and according to Donyboy73 that is yep he has videos on those ones by comparison too and i hope the green one has something very minor with it etc.

It's always the Govenor shaft on the GCV engines. I've got 3 that are leaking still

good scores mate and yep that Honda Mower engine looks like a good one and yep a air filter replacement should fix that one up for sure and as for that original Briggs and Stratton 3.5HP (Horse Power) engine with the snapped crankshaft yep funny how people drill start theirs but yeah luckily do they know it,s a increased risk of snapping the crankshaft for sure and i always pull start than drill start as it makes all the difference for sure and even the ones normally at the upper handlebars for shoulder pull starting yep a optional one too etc.

Every single one of those two stroke mowers should be saved. The 4 stroke ones usually lack the torque for the thick australian grass which is very annoying. Some wer good though, like the Kirby Tecumsehs or the 1980s Briggs on the Rover mowers, but other than that it´s victa two strokes all the way!
