We would've fished three days but snow was coming in Saturday night and I am not a big fan of crossing Monarch Pass when there is snow up there. I highly recommend the Alpine Brewing Company. Good pizza, good beer, good service!

This is so informative I have an old donkey he’s been okay with the kids on his back while I’ve been leading him and just eager to please. The farrier said he should be a good candidate to learn to ride . I’m going to try with a bit less bridle and see how he manages on his walks around the property

Random question… what breed would you consider Sis? Or what kind of donkey would she be called? We just got a Jack that I cannot for the life of me figure out what he is. Your videos have been so helpful in learning how to handle him from a ranch perspective (thankfully he is already pretty well trained). We’re hoping to use him for packing one day and am looking forward to start collecting some of your pack gear for my husband as gifts!

How did you get your donkey to start running? Mine is 2.5 years old, and whenever we start picking up the pace, he starts getting a bit aggressive and he goes into defensive mode. And when I want him to start picking up the pace, he doesn’t understand what I’m trying to do

@@mountainridgegear8172 interesting, I have not tried that. How do you get them going when you’re behind them? We go on long walk around our quiet neighborhood. We live on an acre which he grazes, and then 2-3 times a week we walk around our agriculture (quiet) neighborhood for about an hour plus. Most walks go pretty well, while others he gets a bit frustrated. He’s a 2.5 y/o jack. I’m ordering him a pack saddle this week as well, as I believe a new discipline will be good for his brain.

A donkey's comfortable carrying capacity is 150 lbs despite what you've heard or read. Take their apprehension as a sign that they are communicating an intuitive physical resistance due to the pain they will endure but will not overly express because they are so gentle and submissive. Be careful with them, put them less to work, and offer them more of the freedom that they deserve. They are happy to help, but don't abuse this kindness. 🩷🩶🩷🫏🩷🩶🩷
