Much appreciate the info, specially the last part of the bike going back because the trailer did not have any breaks.
Too bloody annoying
Cool video! We are on our 2nd Ural Gear Up, having owned the first for ten years. Our new Ural was made in Kazakhstan and is made very well. The 2nd generation fuel injection/ignition is amazing. The engine has much better power and torque and at 55mph-65mph is smooth enough that the mirrors are clear. I maintain our Ural with simple hand tools. The most important things to do to keep your Ural reliable and running forever are to follow Ural's owner's manual maintenance. Especially frequent oil changes (3000 miles maximum) using a premium full synthetic oil with the best additive packages (Diesel rated is great). I grease all the fittings and lubricate everything regularly as well.
They are good machines if looked after. Regular oil changes are the key no matter what oil is used. Cheers and thanks for watching!
World's fastest Indian is such an awesome movie, how he managed to do it on a shoestring budget I don't know, having gone to Bonnerville numerous times to set speed records. What a legend Burt Munroe RIP !
The Kawasaki triples have the best sound ever especially the earlier models , no question!!!!
Yes, I've covered these in other videos on the channel.
Love the story ❤ I will not ever own either of these two brands but I can appreciate the information presented.
Good honest opinion which is much appreciated by many I'm sure 😉
had an early 80s R100RS and I loved it. You could eat up the miles effortlessly and it would cruise all day at 100mph. However two things irritated me...firstly you really had to use the steering damper if the road surface got a bit dodgy, because it could throw a tank slapper if you didn't ride cautiously over loose grit, say crossing the middle of the road on a country lane. Second, with the side boxes on, it developed a weave at about 85mph when riding solo (absolutely rock steady without the boxes, though). Put a passenger on for touring with the boxes and it settled down and was good up to 120mph. I used to enjoy reeling in lads on 500s who had flashed past me crouched over the bars...over the next ten miles you could steadily pull them back just by riding steadily. It did sound like a bag of nails until the oil had thoroughly warmed up, and then it was just gorgeous to hear the exhaust note reeling out behind you . oh, I wish I still had it, but life......
Info boxes excellent. Great video mate!
Thanks buddy! Glad you liked it.
Yer mate it’s the GSXR750 in 1985 , and before that yes it was the Honda 4 & Kawasaki 900 .. trying to bring this factory special into the mix is a stitch up.
I’m confused by the tire pressure comment at 8 minutes: What is “finder”? "If it’s got finder in the middle, your tire is over inflated”. I assume that means no chalk mark in the middle because the tire is too rounded from over inflation and wore the chalk away. Similarly, “Finder on the edges”...Am I miss-hearing? Did you say “finer” as in the chalk mark is thinner or “finer”? Sorry mate... but I do love and recommend your videos. And you helped me build a nice little trailer that trails most excellently.
Fainter buddy not finder. I can't help my accent. There is a video on the channel on trailer tire pressures alone which contains a formula that works 100% accurate for any trailer, even caravans.
@@motorcyclecafe I blame the closed caption and my ears! Your videos are awesome! - I used the formula from the three part series you made, but I was watching this one again - after recommending it to another Yank over here - and I just had to ask. Have a great day, and “best” to your friend, Mick! ;-)
Thanks Mick, from your name i assume you are a shooter. Me too. Cheers!
Mini Bikes are the best bang for your Buck!
The record still stands because the class has been retired.
Just got my first Harley-Davidson a clean 1994 FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide with the Evo 80. Have hardly ridden it yet, I want to change out the tires and it seriously needs the new carburetor that was installed by the previous owner to be tuned.
Being an American myself, if I had the bike or anything to do with it, it would be back home in Invercargill. If it were up to me I would've had it buried with Burt, they spent their lives together, they might as well decompose together ! The bike is probably in the hands of someone that raced Bonneville back then, or some wealthy, selfish collector has it !
Have to but in and say the turbo (had 2 and 3 others) is just as reliable as the any other CX, only one I ever had a issue with was a EC cam chain.
good rundown. enjoyed the narration.
Thank you mate!!!
I just watched the movie a couple of days ago, it’s a really good movie, I’ve got the movie on DVD and have watched it several times since the movie came out
You might wel be right that it is the best motorcycle ever made. However for daily use I would prever the RT version which I basicly the same bike but more comfortabele. I now own a K1100LT and you could make the same argument about the K series being the Best Motorcycle in the World. See what I did there 😃.
I love this OG Ducati monster M900 ❤😅. I agree to the fact that new monster looks like KTM or even MV Agusta Brutale in my opinion 😂. This was lovely to look at ,ride and sounded Raw&burbly . Please do a video on history of Honda Hornet CB900F which arrived in 90s after monster M900 was released and Suzuki SV650 which was the cheaper reliable monster alternative from late 90s. Please do a story on both these bikes especially the Hornet because not much is known about it 🙌
I actually had the hornet lined up to do a comparison at the time but i decided against it. So yer it might appear on the channel at some stage.
The whole term suicide clutch is a load of shit, imo I have a 48 & 56 pan both foot clutch (not rocker) drop the clutch and they’ll just stall and not move more than a foot my shovel is the same, I like the term but myth busted 😂😂
I always thought the Kawasaki GPZ900 (the 1st Ninja) was the 1st, by definition, Superbike! It was 1st that I know of that had full Race fairings! I own a Kawasaki Z1 and by your definition all you needed to make it a Superbike was a set of Clubman Handlebars!
Its a very subjective thing for sure. I made a separate video on this very subject.
Age and weakness has precluded my ability to up,shift my 2007 stteet. Glide. I had hand clutch with shifter arm attachment mounted.. To me, it,is awkward as He'll. if. I really don't like it at all . If there Was any. Alternative I would not have done it. I rode tank shift harley In the past but were a piece of cake compared to this..i have a side car Mounted to my bike. Without it I would have fallen over. It is going to tak❤e a lot of time to get proficient with this new shifter. I am 85 I don.t lknow if have the time to do so.
We all get older buddy. You seem to be going pretty well to me. I too have a sidecar.
Megga!!!!
Would you consider a rebel 1100 a muscle cruiser?
No I am afraid they are just not in the same league compared to other modern bikes. They are still powerful though, a great cruiser yes, a power cruiser no.
Me and a buddy of mine have found two old minibikes and they get so many looks from my neighbors. Plenty of old guys give us the thumbs up but just as many dislike how loud they are.
Great information for people with, or getting a trailer thanks.
and thank you for taking the time to leave some great feedback!
Ducati: 240 kmh on the speedometer = 225/228 max realistically!
135 mph max - if you really dare
Handling and roadholding was horrible (esp. considering today's standards). Engine shaking was impressive unless you cared for carburator-synchronization on a daily basis. Still remember my tortured knees that were stuck between the tank and the fairing. Awful! Besides: between 7 and 8 liters / 100 km.
It is unfair to compare old bikes like this to modern bikes. In their day many riders loved them.
@@motorcyclecafe it was a big and heavy bike at the time and was trimmed to run sturdy straight ahead (you explained that in the video). Large front-wheel. I did not like that. As you mentioned: very narrow handle-bar! A mixed bag.
@@keinname629 i wasnt a fan myself at the time. Your pretty much correct in what you say.
€ 38.000,- ... approximately ... NO. I would definitely NOT buy it!
Good info thanks.
Thanks there are other much more informative videos on trailers in the channel if you look. Cheers
I think the Gen 6 is a brilliant idea/design. The GoldWing is capable of change with the times.
Regarding the Yamaha R1, a shorter wheelbase will make a bike easier to wheelie, that is why dragsters have such a long wheelbase.
Yep, no doubt about that
If the movies on I'm watching it
I enjoy your videos. I also rode many of the machines you describe as my friends and I owned many of them. I owned a T350J Suzuki 350 and can confirm that it handled better than my friends CB350 and better than Yamahas R5. The Suzuki handling was on a par with the Yamaha RD350 which I owned and raced later with the Yamaha having better acceleration due to reed valves and better braking due to having a front disc brake. The T350 was no slouch though as I once put mine (which was stock) in a flying quarter mile which was run in both directions. I was told my top speed average of both directions was 104mph. At that time I would have weighed around 60 kilograms which would have helped.
Bikes in those days were fantastic machines, I love them all. Thank you for your positive feedback mate. It means a lot to read comments like yours!
The best motorcycle is BMW R69S
The brough ss100 was the very first super bike.
At 72 I am still riding my 2 wheel 95 Honda ACE 1100. And for the past 18 years I have my 04 Ural Troyka. Never had so much fun as I have had riding the sidecar bike. It's definitely not a rocket, but if you take your time do back roads, it's a blast. And you see so much more. The wife loves the sidecar. In the Fall as she is in the sidecar, she has her coffee, GPS, 12v blanket, she loves it. Shes my navigator! And she knows when she has to lean when doing the back roads. I do try to keep the chair on the ground, lol I got to find a 12v crockpot to add to the sidecar lol
I just put an amp and speakers in my sidecar. They are great fun for sure!
Great, but what happens when you run out of things to put on the bike! lol. I also have a small stereo set installed, and a cargo trunk on top of the spare tire. Everyone asks what's in the trunk.....I tell them a Ventriloquist Dummy, lol I've run out of things to add!
AI shit is wrong!
No AI on this channel !
Burt Munro was an absolute legend..... Incredible story....
I appreciate the time effort and perspective you put into these nostalgic gems. I recently purchadesed a2004 ST4s the ST3's bigger brother and you are right it is absolutely stunning to look at and and even more exciting to ride. I was happy before but upon viewing this video masterpiece I am elated. Love that xs850 May all the great bikes of the era be remembered and restored and of course RIDDEN!
You need to differentiate between a "Mini-Cycle" and "Mini-Bike"! 😁👍👍🇺🇸
I had a 82 Yamaha XJ -750 Maxim also shaft drive! Best bike I ever owned as far as performance, handling and comfort!
Holy crap when you get to the scene where they're showing Burt's bike hanging up on the wall in the man is trying to explain everything about the bike. You would think he would Chase everybody out of that room until he was done speaking on camera. There was a kid in the background screaming at the top of his lungs and a woman screaming at the top of her lungs over something telephone is ringing off the hook what a crazy time that must have been trying to film and record this.😮
It was an original recording recorded off a tv. I could have fixed it but i decided to leave it as it was originally. But yes what a house to live in 😉
And it still is the worlds fastest Indian!!
and no oil pump when built by indian MotoCycle Company
Ducati 91sex on wheels! Changed the way bikes looked , wow.
A friend had a '50 Chief. He said the engine was about as sophisticated as a lawn mower engine.
A tad harsh but yes there were probably better engines but hey they looked cool.
My great great great uncle
You must be soooo proud!
