I would love to visit Koror, Palau again. During the July 4th weekend of 1964 my ship moored on the west side of Koror. We had a ship's party in the village and marched in formation before a cheering crowd. I was impressed by the BAI structures with symbols representing the past on the island. I have a carved storyboard from Koror.

Taro farms was jus kids wwe ring . I remember wrestling my cousins and farting around in the taro field and my grandma was hella pissed yelling at us. Good times.

Palau wasn't taken from Spain by the Germans. Spain SOLD it to the German Reich 1898. Anyways it should not left out to mention the positive influences on an analphabetic partially cannibal population by that time. While Japan occupied Palau 1914 putting it under a comparable harsh regime German missionaries kept up holding their position serving humanitarian aid of all kind. Alphabetisation still was proceeded in the early 1930s by a German evangelic missionaire named Wilhelm Siemer on the West Carolines and Yap for instance. He is remembered and honored by the indigenes until these days.
