    Thank you and appreciate the time taken to make this video. The only thing I'm missing with this technique is a boot lip that protects the clip of the rj45 connector from snapping off. I need to carry these cables to a different location to run HDMI over long runs, and the clips are the first thing that break. Any suggestions? Thanks

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 2 lety

      This technique can be utilized with a boot, instead of running the shrink tubing up and over the connector, use a shorter piece (cut in ½) and only slide it up and against the back of the connector. Then when prepping, slide the appropriately sized snagless boot (8~8.5mm OD for Cat6A shielded) up the cable first before sliding up the shrink tubing. Complete the termination, including the shrink tubing and then slide the boot up and over the connector. This may be a little tight over the shrink tubing OD but that will help hold the boot in place. Also don’t do it when the shrink is still very warm - as it may bunch up like an accordion because it is still flexible. Let it cool a bit before sliding the boot fully up.

    Is the colouringcode order different compared to the cat5e? Because there are wires in the cable that are completely white, no white-orange, white-green, ...

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 2 lety

      Yes, in a way. With the higher performing twisted pair cables like Cat7 and Cat8 and even some Cat6A, adding the color stripe on the white conductor has a detrimental effect on the signal performance. The cable won’t certify. So those conductors are not striped. This is why we teach performing the termination in stages, to prevent the opportunity to accidentally cross the wires.

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 3 lety

      Yes, that is an SF/UTP cable similar to our LLINX-HD cable. If it has a drain wire you can trim off the outer braid and foil and then fold the drain over the jacket and apply the copper tape over the drain wire to complete the shield contact.

      Hi Jesse ;) we're right with you, Ralph is the man! Here is his answer: The Shrink Tubing is ½” 3:1 shrink ratio. The Crimper part number is 100054LW and it does not have a strain relief crimp option. We do have another tool, (item # 12360C), that crimps the strain relief.

  • @ThePatata43

    It is perfectly explained. But I have a doubt. I do not have cooper tape and it is quite expensive for just making two terminations. I saw some videos that utilise the foil of one twisted pair. Would that be the best solution? I think that it should be bent by the half leaving the blue part hidden and wrapped around the strands. Or is it better not to twists the strands to cover more surface on the connection? Thank you in advanced.

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 3 lety

      Hello Jordi! Our method shown is a best-practices method, but there are other methods. If you review the instruction sheet, it also shows the wrapping of the drain wire around the jacket. With Cat7, you would use the braid shield instead, form a long enough drain wire out of braid shield strands (at least 20 strands to net the right wire size/copper cross-sectional area) and follow the instruction on the connector sheet at this link: www.occfiber.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Cat6A_Shielded_FTP_Instructions.pdf

  • @feds27
    @feds27 Před 3 lety

    FYI, you might encounter split pairs caused by this method. The added layer of copper tape thickens the overall diameter which then requires one to squeeze the cable to make it fit into the connector. This squeezing no matter how careful can cause the blue and green pairs to carve into each other and cause split pairs.

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your comment. While this is a common method and we haven’t experienced this with our terminations, we’re sure our audience would welcome your tips on how to avoid this in terminations. Please feel free to share!

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 3 lety

      Hi Shawn! The NVR would be the ground reference contact. The RJ45 jack should show a silver “bezel” around the RJ45 jack - that shows the jack is shielded. Simply connecting a shielded cable to that jack would suffice without any other connection needed.

    Can you put links to all these tools (Amazon?). Also would you have to buy these connectors also for making patch cables (would the cables be flexible enough for these short runs) or do you recommend going directly into a switch. Would you need a special patch panel to receive these; do they fit in standard cat5 sockets? Seems would be very expensive for a home network.

    • @LibertyAVSolutions
      @LibertyAVSolutions Před 3 lety

      Hello Jayson! These tools are currently not being sold on Amazon, but we can notify you once these have been listed on another seller's website. In reference to your next question, it depends on the length of the patch cable. This is not a super flexible cable due to the size of both the cable and connector, so very short patching would be difficult. For 10Gbps networking, a better option might be to use our pre-terminated Cat6a patch cables for short patching seen here: secure.libertycable.com/product-categories/262/Category-LAN-Data+Patch+Cables The majority of the use we see is HDBaseT and USB extension applications. The cable end connectors will connect with and fit in any standard cat5 jack. If you are referring to the keystone jacks, The Liberty Jacks are Keystone style, so they are interchangeable with most products in the market. However, the Cat6A jacks are 1.5X height, so they would not fit vertically in a high-density plate or panel -- side by side, no problem.

      Hi David! Class FA or “Cat7A” has been used for 25G networking. Class F or “Cat7” is a 10G infrastructure cable. It is a non RJ45 network standard. Most of the America’s sell Cat7 more as a premium “Cat6A” cable - using 8P8C RJ45’s for networking and HDBaseT applications. Liberty’s plenum Cat7 is actually a Cat7A rated product.
