Saw them in 2015. They were as great as ever. So privileged to see the greatest band in rock.

I went see her last sept and I had same thoughts as you I never went to jazz show but came out wanting more,the next day I checked for tickets a few days later as I was in Vegas for a few more days but tickets were too expensive but what happened a few days later blew my mind...I was walking past entry to the show bout 15min into show I chanced my luck at a late ticket i asked guy checking tickets if any left I told him my story bout being at show a few days earlier and fell in love with jazz but I was not able purchase another ticket he gave me a ticket and said enjoy I was in aue and so happy especially as the ticket was for best seats in house section 202 tight in middle i don't think I've ever been so happy sitting there watching gaga perform for free i never felt this could happen to me.best nite in Vegas in 20 years

A lot people don’t understand Her name but this is Lady Gaga means, Lady is her part Classic, Elegant and talent, and Gaga is her part Superstar, crazy, Artistc, and Rocky.

To add something here that no one has mentioned, musicians can back me up. Hall is probably not touring with a slew of 18 wheelers, loaded with stage, lights & PA equipment. So, this, contractually, is supplied by the promoter. Not all promoters ate created equal. This is why Van Halen did the brown M&Ms. The act may have the specs for PA equipment in the rider, but that doesn't mean that is what is going to be wsiting at the venue for the nights show. So, the sound guys may be dealing with old/worn, under powered, inferior boards, amps & speaker cabs. This, no matter how talented, is a sound guys nightmare. Having said that, i have sat in front of the FOH board, and been dismayed at how lousy the mix was. Maybe these guys are deaf or have tin ears. But, one would assume that the players would have somebody mixing the stage sound that is competent, because if you can't hear yourself.......... especially the vocals! Though that does not excuse Hall from yelling at his crew like that, in front of the audience. I don't care how much of a perfectionist one is, thats not professional. I've heard many a "star," give praise to their crew, and their hard work. Though, possibly, they are traveling bare bones, and hire these sound guys from local sound companies. As the saying goes, a good sound guy can make a bad band sound good or a good band sound lousy.

Elvis Costello the opener for Daryle Hall?

Thanks for this. Daryl has been gesticulating at his sound people for years - it's super distracting. You'd think he'd sort it out by now. I'm a big fan, but when my wife asked if I'd like to check him out again, I declined. Funny you mentioned Costello sang The Only Flame in Town - that would have fun for Daryl to come on stage for.

I thank you for your review. You did yourself a real solid by admitting that Elvis predates you by a couple decades, so you can be forgiven for your lack of knowledge and backstory on this legend. EC (I refer to him as the ~REAL~ Elvis) started in 1977 at the juncture of the Punk and New Wave eras. He really doesn't fit either of those genres completely, but he leaned a bit more punk. But his sound was decidedly more "pop" and he quickly established himself as one of the best (and most prolific) lyricists and songwriters EVER (not just among his contemporaries). He recorded his first album with a backing band called Clover (who would end up being The News of Huey Lewis and The News fame), but once he put together the Attractions band, they began laying waste to the New Wave/pop landscape. Steve Nieve (keyboards) and Pete Thomas (drums) still play with him to this day, but the bassist changed in the '90s from Bruce Thomas (no relation to Pete) due to a horrible falling out. It was a shame, because Bruce Thomas was a stone KILLER on bass. Still Davey Farragher, the most recent bass player, fills in admirably in the Imposters lineup. I've seen Elvis maybe close to 10 times over the years, and he never disappoints, and each show is a candidate for "best show I've ever seen live". Despite a long list of huge hits, his catalog is incredibly deep and varied. After doing the "pop star wannabe" thing, he diversified into all kinds of other genres: country music, orchestral music, collaborations with artists as varied as Paul McCartney and Burt Bacharach, and even a few changes of direction that I just didn't want to follow him down. Still kudos for not resting on comfortable laurels. I would heartily encourage you to dive into his back catalog to get a sense of what a great artist EC has been over the years: get a copy of This Year's Model (which makes his debut album, "My Aim Is True" forgettable by comparison), Armed Forces, Get Happy, **Imperial Bedroom** (possibly his best ever), Out of Our Idiot, Blood & Chocolate, King of America, Spike, Brutal Youth to get the best sense of his punk/pop legacy. After those, the diversification begins in earnest and while that might make for some spotty material now and again, it's not without some great music nonetheless. Hard to go wrong with anything he does.

Great 👍 Review! Gaga is absolutely 💯 phenomenally the best vocalist/performer I've seen in 20years live in her Jazz/Piano residency shows. What an absolute TREAT to watch someone SO talented and enjoying herself SO much performing some of the greatest older songs mixed with some of her greatest but Piano/jazz versions. And Don't even get me started on "Americano"! YES

I actually like HOB’s. but, yes seating is the key. My go to spot is at the tall tables behind the floor area and in front of the to the Sound booth. A bucket of Corona on ice, and a beautiful evening. Saw Santana and Billy Idol there. Cool vibe in the venue. Even had a bathroom attendant with every cologne you may want and super good service. You just need to book a seat of choice if that is the experience you want.

My husband & I were at the June 27th show, as well. The words spectacular, fabulous, and phenomenal almost seem too diluted to describe the greatness we witnessed at this show, and I was sad when it ended. I could've listened to her all night. SO glad we took advantage of the opportunity to see her. Tickets were NOT cheap, but it was money well spent. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat to see this show again. And, again and again.

I appreciate your honest review. Daryl is not the same singer as he was during - Live from Daryl's House - best 10+ years ago. Age has firmly taken a hold of his once pristine voice. Also detest his legal blocking of John Oates's desire to cash out. I believe he'll regret it one day.

It always makes me chuckle a bit when people see Bruce for the first time time...everyone always mentions the house lights on for the encore! I'm not sure if any other artists do this, but it has been a Bruce staple since the 80s. It's such a visual to see, especially when he plays the big 80,000 seat stadiums. Also, not sure if he did it at this show at all, but it's become a thing that people bring homemade signs of song requests and if he's feeling it he'll take the sign and they'll play the song spot on without any prior rehearsal. He also is known to call "audibles" which is when he changes from the handwritten setlist and just yells to the band what's coming next. Truly a sight to witness, when so many big name bands are so structured.

I’m a huge Gaga fan, it was the best show of my life. The sound quality in that room is amazing and her vocals were on point! I started to tear up hearing her sing her songs on the piano and just hearing her voice so clear. She knows how to put on a show and her stage presence is on another level 👏🏼

I thought maybe I was overstating how incredible she was to my friends but after hearing your review I'm not alone in how amazing her performance was. I love the pop star Gaga is but now I am truly grateful I was able to experience the true talent she is. OG Vegas , OG New York City club. Being from NYC her ending with New York New York gave me chills! I can say this concert truly was a life experience.

Hi Joe. My wife and I were at the same show. It was the first time I’ve seen her. You nailed it with this review. This was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The old school Vegas show feel to it was fantastic. Two songs in and I was already telling myself that this woman is a generational talent. FYI - followed it up with Garth Brooks on Friday and I may have seen the best two shows of my life on back to back nights.

At each time she performs jazz and piano you can see she's 10000% herself. She enjoyed herself, she's happy, she just sings and wears extra vintage outfits. This just her. Thank you for your review I totally agree with it. It's good also she sings some of her old and new hits in between because of course a lot of people come to see Lady Gaga to hear her music. This show becomes a classic in Las Vegas! It's been since 2018 (if I'm not wrong?) she's performing it. Now the show has matured and she is just having fun with the audience

I was at that show tons of fans were at the front of the stage dancing and security kept trying to get them to sit down. This happened several times. And Daryl cussing at his sound guys? I saw some hand signals to them and once he had to wait a minute for them to change something, but I never heard him cussing at them. Are you sure this review is for his Las Vegas show??

Tony Bennett ended all his concert with Fly me to the moon and sang it without the mic or music And Michael buble did the same thing on one of his tours I’ve seen Tony Bennett 8 times and he was amazing

Interesting review. I’ve long thought her pop persona is not authentically her and frankly I don’t like it but it made her very famous. whenever I see her out of that be it a movie, the Netflix documentary and with Tony Bennett her talent shows through. She doesn’t need all those elaborate costumes and sets. Hope she does more of what she wants now that she’s achieved mega success because she is one of a kind and has a gorgeous voice

Saw both in WA state a few weeks ago and it was garbage

I saw Hall and Oate right before Covid in NYC and they sounded terrible. Squeeze opened and they were fantastic

That sounds like a great Costello setlist. I saw him live once. He was going through a "country phase." He did country versions of his hits. I hated it. I would have loved hearing him do his well-known songs in the traditional arrangements. Many of the songs that you mentioned were big hits.

the crowd has a lot to do with it too. I was at the Greek show a few days before, it was night and day more energy. This crowd was much older looking and sat down more.

Elvis sang SO flat all night. Not sure if there is some hearing issues going on. Energy might have been flat for both but Elvis actually sings flat tonally.

The high fee's is why I quit going to big shows. It is ridiculous

It appeared that Elvis band was Arc Angels also known as the band for Stevie Ray Vaughn. I’m curious if this was capitalized on at any point of the concert?
