It’s so wrong for the civilized court system to say that Indigenous history is hearsay just because it is taught orally. Just another way to hold back the indigenous bands and tribes.
I went on Ancestry wondering where my bloodline was when Jesus was born. As a native Oregon it was right here where I still am trying to live. My 5th great grandfather was chief Peopeomoxmox. 🙂 I guess that means Oregon area has the deepest roots of my tree.😊
Native pride nation wide yo yeeeeeeeee sheesh 💯
My name is les jones my 3X grandmother was Wel-Suni she was tututni During the Rouge River wars I don't know if she was stolen or given..the Chetco Indian chief Chetco Ben wound up with her. Chetco Ben gave her as a peace offering to Thomas Van pelt to stop the Genocide. She's writen down as Chetco Indian. She is part of the Silitez indian tribe. I need..NOT WANT I NEED TO TALK AN ELDER ABOUT THIS...I can prove all of this for enrollment what I'm missing is her enrollment number...I'm not after bennifits or money. I need what has been missing in my sole for 62 years to be back with my people. Can anyone help.. If an elder sees this please contact me asap
I'm Native American Lakota these white colonizers occupying so-called "America" will soon be a minority in 2054, same goes for the illegitimate state of "Canada" in 2036. Make America Great Again? No. Make Turtle Island Indigenous Again? Yes. 🐢🏝
I’m proud to be Klamath tribe the struggle we survived only made us stronger
"Kill da Indian, save da man". Don't make sense. We Cannot Run away from wese are.
I'm not so sure if God approves of genocide. Perhaps when hunting and fishing goes back to its overabundance and openness the controll of indigenous people will stop. Sorry my ancestors are killing the planet. There's no fish in my rivers that weren't put there. There's no land that is eviction free. If you have a heart of gold, don't tell others.
I did not know about the Donation Claims Act, and the process of how it happened here, in Oregon. This is an excellent video.
Thank you very much, this documentary is very close to my heart.
@@CMetzlerMedia and here i am watching again. thank you.
What I would like to know are of the stories of Sasquatch/Bigfoot on the Oregon coast and how the Native Indians handled their existence and did they have troublers??
And I would love to document that video! Could be very interesting...!
How long have these people been in the United States?
Did you watch it? At the very beginning it explains just that. Please do and I hope you enjoy it.
They look like they are mostly. white People... What percentage do you have to be for you to be recognized as a member of the Tribe? Is it 25% ? Why are they all White?
Murder thats why.
Hopefully you watched the video, it explains the attempted genocide of an entire race of humans and what they HAD to do to survive,
It is amazing for people to go from the Stone Age to modern civilization in 150 years. With only oral stories/mythology to go off of the claim of being here since "time immemorial" is bold to say the least.
I don't think you actually understand what was being said throughout the video. You can not just glean a quote from an Elder and twist it into what ever you are attempting to say. The history is there and easily accessible to anyone willing to learn.
You're rather shallow, aren't you? Do some more research then post a worthwhile comment.
Africans was raped by native Americans so which native Americans have Africans in their DNA trying to trace it in California African kidnapped in America native American heritage
I would like too see American Indians tribes make a movie 🎬 about the Indian game lacrosse. And who the they made the gears and the fights. With the rules broken .
I really appreciate your efforts. But, please stop referring to indigenous people as "Indians" or "Native Americans" as this land was not referred to as "America" before the settlers arrived. Thank you and much respect to you.
Well, I do appreciate your opinion, but here is the uncontested truth regarding the verbiage in this documentary. When I created this video I spoke with each Tribal Council regarding every word that was spoken in this entire documentary. Every word was scrutinized, edited, and then approved for content. Every word. The message of this documentary is the important part, and these are their words. Some of the Tribal Leaders and Tribal Board Members I interviewed, face to face, refer to them selves as 'Indians' or 'Native Americans' within this video. If you think any different that what is spoken here, please go to each Tribal Council and ask them. Here is a list of the Tribes mentioned in this documentary and a few other links that may help you: www.firstnations.org ctclusi.org/history/ www.ctsi.nsn.us www.cowcreek-nsn.gov www.coquilletribe.org www.grandronde.org

I was born and raised in Coos Bay. I’ve always felt a deep, spiritual connection with the land on the Oregon coast- specifically in the Coos county area. I believe that it is a kind of paradise that will remain long after our capitalistic society collapses.
Yes, the same capitalistic society that enable you to post your comments on this site with your techno device.

When ever I research the Indians I cry cry cry when I think of how they were genocide raped murdered out of all the wars that hurts me the most the Indians they knew how to connect with the land
You guys the tribes they're on the coast of Oregon from Alaska are one of the 12 lost tribes of the children of Israel and if you don't believe me go to the Cleveland Museum in Ohio
Thank you for sharing this beautiful documentary. Our little school from Corvallis attended the celebration for the Siletz reinstatement celebration when my kids were young - such a honor - and so touching! - I am also a great grandchild of colonizers - I have my grandmother Mary's tattered Chinook jargon dictionary (she was born in Goldendale in 1881) - and my folks raised me with respect for the people of Warm Springs and other natives. My cousin Connie Bennett wrote about Oregon's to the S Alesea reservation trail of tears in her play Amanda Transcending, which was produced at Willamette U in the summer of 2019. The generosity of the people of Grand Ronde benefits many in the Willamette Valley, sharing culture and donating to local charities. In 2021, when they received extra doses of the vaccine, offered them to those in the surrounding community! I hope for respect and equity for the first peoples 🙏
In no way am I discounting your feelings about the history of your people, sir. Yet, at a certain point, this world will be in complete chaos until our Creator takes up His people into glory. This includes every person alive or passed that sought and gave His life to our Savior, and Lord.
I am very happy for you but that has nothing to do with this this attempted genocide within the United States of America.
Thank you for sharing this history which is hidden from us. To much colonization and lack of truth of history that most people don’t know. Bless you my relatives.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✊🏽
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you!
Much of Oregon Society continues to maintain extremely racist practices. Almost every one of Avery Charles nine sons were either murdered by racist Sheriff of Klamath County or put in prison on fabricated murder charges. Tony Charles was murdered by Eugene Police and his body has still never been found! He’s still listed nationally as a Missing Person. Adam Charles-Prison, Jason Charles-just released. How the Charkes family has been treated is emblematic to the rotten heart of how the powers of Oregon government work..
DON'T WORRY, THESE AMERICANS ARE GOING TO GET A SUPER BIG DOSE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE AND A HUGE WAKE UP CALL NOT THAT AMERICA IS DIVIDED AND IS COLLAPSING AND IS BEING TAKEN OVER FROM WITHIN BY OUR GREAT MANY FOREIGN AND ENEMIES WITHIN.. BUT THE DUNBED DOWN SHEEP ARE NONE THE WISER.
I'm a proud member of the cow creek people and after our language and much of our history was nearly lost, I am grateful for my family representing one of our seven feathers and my great grandfather fighting the government to get us federally recognized!
Thank you, the Cow Creek of Umpqua Band are dear to my heart.
7 Feathers? How about the 7th fire we are now in? Time to wipe out the government's elected Chiefs and Council! OR We move to the 8th Fire!
TRIBES AROUND THE WORLD ARE DESTROYED BY WESTERN CIVILIZED ALL THEIR CRIMES THEY HAVE DONE AND CONTINUE IN MANY WAYS
Beloved family. Sacred OWL WOMAN Texas
You left out the fur trade and Hudson Bay company as well as other fur company which tied to the native peoples and history of the making of Oregon. Poor research!!
Not really, but I understand what you are referring to. Believe me, there is much more information in my research that I just did not have time to produce. This documentary was researched and produced specifically for the various 'Trails Of Tears' suffered by the Tribes mentioned for the Sesquicentennial of Oregon State. I could not fit all Tribal history into one hour long documentary. A second feature was planned but never materialized sadly. This was intended to open the eyes of people who were celebrating 150 years of statehood to the fact that Native American Tribes were here thousand and thousands of years prior to 'discovery'. I hope you enjoyed it for what it is and thanks for the feedback.
@@CMetzlerMedia many people at Grand ronde and other tribes are related to fur trade families. They intermarried with Europeans . This makes history of Oregon look very one sided and part of some larger woke agenda.
@@LivingHistorySchool It is definitely one sided and my goal was to wake some people up, hopefully this small amount of Tribal history I represented here will help. I spent many hours interviewing the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Elders and Cheryl Kennedy touches on a small mention of Tribal tradesman in her interview.
@@CMetzlerMedia an example is the seven families of the seven feathers cow creek just look at their genealogy. They are all descendants of fur trade unions of a French Canadian trapper and a native wife. Same goes for many of grand ronde . A lot of history happened long before American Oregon trail parties arrived.
@@LivingHistorySchool Yep, that is the point of this documentary.

Thank you for the links, great information. Initially, there was to be a follow-up documentary that included the rest of the Tribes of Oregon but sadly it never came to fruition.
Metzler Media- I very much appreciate what you have accomplished. Your educating, caring and sharing is important. Hopefully those you are educating (non native and 1st peoples) will take up the important tasks of continuing the vital work of learning more and taking to heart the continuing wicked consequences of the doctrine of discovery. ♥️🙏♥️
NOT GREAT. IT IS SO BIASED TOWARDS WHYTE GENOCIDE AND DOESNT SPEAK TO THE TRUTH OF TREATY BREAKERS.
Sorry you feel that way. All of the information presented was gathered from all five Tribal Councils and Tribal Elders and presented in their own words. All other information presented here was from Tribal archives and historical documentation. The many points of treaties broken for each Tribe is stated very clearly and describes each Tribes loss and 'Trail of Tears'. I thought I made it fairly evident in this documentary. That was literally the point of it.
Thank you I'm trying to learn about my tribe. Thank you for your help
RESPECT!!! Blessings for all NATIVE people 💕🇵🇱
What is the correct pronunciation for Ahantchuyuk ?
Hello, here is what I found: Ahantch·u·yuk | \ ə-ˈhän-chə-ˌyu̇k \ and this seems to be the most common: czcams.com/video/pSVIvyiB6DQ/video.html
Beautifully done! But saddened by the absolute shameful history of White European greed. I recently purchased over a dozen acres of land along an Oregon river and I was able to trace the land’s “ownership” back to the mid-1850’s. However, I would love to learn more of the historically indigenous tribes of the Coos Bay region. Any assistance or guidance on other information resources would be greatly appreciated!
Hello and thank you! Here is the web site of one of the Tribal Governments I worked with in creating this documentary. ctclusi.org
All the lands should be retuned to the original tribes
What is hopeful is each Tribal government is buying back their original Tribal lands when they can and when the land is available.
I WELCOME THE DAY WHEN YOUR HISTORY IS. TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS . I KNOW THEY DONT BECAUSE WHAT THEY DID WOULD EMBARRASS THEM EVEN MORE BECAUSE ITS STOLEN LAND AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE . I STAND WITH YOU AS I HAVE CHOCTAW BLOOD IN OUR FAMILY.
Your hard work is appreciated. The more I learn the better.

MEANWHILE. Keep fighting, fight the fight. May your Gods bless you all.
How do they know they are the first people? Humans have been on the earth a very very long time. The indians have been here ten+ thousands of years. There is no way to know that earlier people didn't come and go... maybe several times... but no trace has been found. Let's not be presumptuous.
Well, not sure why you would question the science of this documentary but I will try to explain based on what I know, This documentary most certainly does not presume anything regarding the history of the people who lived here. My first question to you would be, how do we know they are not the first people? I researched the history of who was actually present during the time frames mentioned, nothing was presumed. The earlier people you mention are by definition eventually labeled native people to the land, brought into what we call the United States from all around the world eons ago, thus becoming what scientist have deemed native people. Ancestors from Africa, Asia, etc., all being a part of the family of 'Indians'.
Any Tribal members wish to reply here?
Wow have you not study the history of these lands as a decendant of the indigenous people I can not understand your comment
Sad to see what has been done to your people.
Yes, the history is sad but the Tribes are moving forward and making amazing strides in reclaiming their lands, languages, and cultures.

Great historical program.
Thank you very much. It was and is very near and dear to my heart.
The government would recognise the native Indians now they been domesticated an assimilated
That land is sacred!! But you go ahead and build that Casino. What a joke.
Interesting that you see it that way. I encourage you to watch the entire documentary with an open mind and learn what obstacles have been overcome in order to just become 'human', let alone purchase/own their own land.
@@CMetzlerMedia No disrespect to you the film or the Natives. I grew up around Florence and i hate seeing how the Casinos have changed the area. It attracts a lot of low lifes. Its like the hoards of white men pouring in all over again. Ironic.....
@@johnmurdock3448 Thanks for the reply. I understand your point, I have been in many county commissioner meetings hearing the arguments on both sides of this issue. Each side has viable points, most of the negative connotations were driven by NUMBY type accusations and most of the positive arguments were driven by Tribal members just wanting their land back and the opportunity, which believe me there are few, to generate income for it's members.
"Fear of the Successful Indian". Many of us hate the way colonial settlements like Florence have changed the area. It attracts a lot of low lifes.
