some minor critiques about this scene; same as the Pearl Harbor movie they have used the "J" model B-25, the movie shows the bombardier using a norden bombsight as to the actual raiders used a DIY steel sight that only costs a cent(Pearl Harbor movie got it right though), the scene shows the bombers at a high altitude. Still the movie Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo depicts the Doolittle the best.

This scene from “Threads” is indeed realistic; as you can see none of the people in Sheffield had mega expensive purpose built nuclear shelters to protect themselves (if you had watched “QED: A Guide To Armageddon” you’ll know what I mean).

The scene would've been more acid/raw if they didn't put music in the background. I remember watching this movie as a kid and seemed to me so slow paced for a war movie. After watching saving private ryan this one was a bummer to be honest. Besides this scene, I can't recall any other good scene in the movie, maybe i have to watch it again now 25 years later.

Anyway, it's a nice view.

What happened to Jimmy is horrible. The tragedy of friendly fire aside, what really gets me is the scene with his legs. It emphasizes the fact that war is dehumanizing to its victims, and can render soldiers so injured that they are simply beyond help, and only capable of suffering until the end.

Should have dismounted the top browning (idk if it's 50 or 30) had a gunner in the tank also loading,a guy on the coax gun in the tank and a 2 man machine gun crew in the second story of the house or even 3 in the tank and a lone machine gun position. Classic ambush.

Interesting to note that, although the film is almost entirely fictitious, the Germans were indeed using Norway as a location for their nuclear weapons development program, and the base in the movie, although never existing, was supposed to be a heavy water plant.

Worst naval aviation scene in history. Apparently the director never heard of a Carrier Battle Group. Or CAP. Or a Hawkeye. Or CVN airwings intercepting soviet bombers literally 1k nm away. Like, even if somehow the Hawkeyes were down, carrier flight ops were down.. what in the actual fuck were the Ticos & Burkes doing lol?

Jeewizz, I didn't realize how awful that was when I was 19. I was angry. Of course I was. I was 14 when Platoon came out. I watched it every night it was in my town. 14 nights. I went out to aquire votes. It meant the world to me.

Probably the most masterful sequence ever filmed. I don't know anything that comes close to it. The amount of emotions that are compacted into such a complete chaotic scene and you can't do anything but be witness to the savagery of it.
