    If the person doesn't know ukemi, their wrist is going to have a VERY bad day. Something people never discuss is that Aikido's kote gaeshi and Aiki Jujitsu's kote gyaku nage (demonstrated) are two ends of a spectrum of force, and that one doesn't have to operate in the extremes on either end. Kote gaeshi is sometimes too gentle to be affective (depending on circumstances, and expertise of the user [it takes more skill to be nice AND effective]) and kote gyaku nage is on the extreme end of "let's F this guy up." The difference between these two throws is the axis of rotation. In the gentler kote gaeshi, the axis of rotation is "along" the natural articulation of the joints, folding the arm back in on itself, and collapsing the center to the ground. In the battle ready kote gyaku nage, the axis of rotation is orthogonal to the rotation of the joints, **requiring** an escape fall in order to preserve their operation. What most people don't realize is that these two different methods are not antagonistic. Meaning you don't have to pick one over the other. You can actually start with kote gaeshi, and blend in orthogonal energy to either direct the fall, or to improve compliance. In this way, you can dynamically dial up the aggression of the technique, WHILE you're doing it, to allow you to customize to fit the situation's requirements.

    Lo que no entiendo es..si querían tener su propio sistema hubieran trabajado en eso..pero lo único que hicieron fue tener las mismas técnicas que su maestro Ed Parker les enseño y cambiarles el nombre..que por cierto los nombres son más largos que las tecnicas..

    • @LeAnnRathbone
      @LeAnnRathbone Před 9 dny

      They did not change the names, originally Parkers system did not have names. They are the ones that put names to the techniques then Parker did the same with American Kenpo. Tracy added the techniques from the Katas where American Kenpo did not.

    Does Tracy Kenpo not teach the principles of Kenpo at all?? This technique, if attempted, is going to get someone clocked in the head. I often wonder how much time Ed Parker spent with Al and Jim, because they must've wasted many hours if this is their stuff.

  • @charlesreed5839
    @charlesreed5839 Před měsícem

    Have you ever tried this against faster punches? The timing seems like it would fall apart. The right jab-left cross would be much faster than the windmilling blocks and strike. The final strike, which I'd call an inverted backfist, also looks to lack any power whatsoever.

    I'm usually detest these keyboard warriors running around all the martial arts channels and telling everyone how they're doing it is wrong. However, I was pretty irritated when I saw the arrangement of your fingers when making a fist. Let's say you got your fist in the position of the end of a punch, right in front of you. Your thumb absolutely should be under (!) your fist - in an angled position of course, it should never be further than the knuckles. It should never be at the side of your fist. It needs to be under and tightened closely. The contraction by the thumb supports the other fingers so that the bunch of fingers actually becomes a fist. If you have your thumb sideways, it cannot support your fist, you lose stability. Also, if you got the thumb sideways, both of the joints in your thumb stick out in a position that's going to get you hurt. So, please try putting your thumb under (!) your fist, in an angled position. Throw a few punches with noticable force at a makiwara or a heavy punching bag, and you'll notice the difference. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, English is not my native language.

    I've done a lot of this type of stuff under different names, it has to be some of the most fun one can have. But of course, now I do all the new stuff like BJJ, Judo, and Kickboxing. One day I will go back. Also if you do one type of Aiki Jujitsu you have done them all, so don't get too bogged down with names.
