Buick also produced the Century between 1936 and 1942, which was powered by a 5.2 liter (320 cu in) straight-8 engine that produced 141 horsepower. The Century was often called "the first muscle car" or "the banker's hot rod" because it combined the smaller Special body with the larger engine, giving it a good power-to-weight ratio and a top speed of around 110 mph.
