Seqwater is the Queensland Government statutory authority responsible for delivering safe, secure and cost-effective bulk drinking water supply to more than three million people across South East Queensland.
We also provide essential flood mitigation services by operating the region's dams, supply irrigation water to about 1,200 farmers and growers through seven schemes, and manage catchment health and recreation facilities enjoyed by more than 2.7 million people each year.

Darren, it is hard to say and being a small relativley immobile weevil (unlike say a flying insect) it may take some years for it to build up in numbers and start to see an effect at the release sites. Good thing is the weevil is seems easy to breed in cultivation allowing it to be released to new locations.

"Discounted for other reasons" - political. "Dams need rain to fill them" - how laughable is this stupid video published in Jan 2022, a la nina year that has had enormous rainfall; eg three huge floods of the Mary river, Brisbane flooding again. The arguments are illogical - if we really live in a dry continent (yes Australia is dry, but the East Coast is not dry) then why keep growing the population? This lying must stop.
Where does the UV LIGHT play a role in water Purification processing?
it does nothing for RO system. As the video stated, the membrane already removes bacteria and virus from the source water. Some RO machine uses UV light as a safety net just in case the membrane failed to purify the water. But then I would worry other potential dangerous impurities. UV can't break that out. Activated carbon might do. Still, daily maintenance and decommisioning the membrane when it reached its service life will be wiser than only relying on UV. Doing both? might even be better

New dams have been damned by environmental nonsense and the mother-Earth worshippers of the green religion.
And has it ever actually been NECESSARY since 2009? No, because it's mostly a white elephant installed because of doomsday climate change alarmists and their dud predictions. At the time Professor Tim Flannery said the dams would all run dry. Now ironically these expensive desal plants all around Australia are consuming huge amounts of energy and money, adding tonnes and tonnes of more carbon emissions.
